Actually, Brits, the "Kenny Everett Show" and "The Kenny Everett Video Cassette" were shown in the US, in syndication. I believe, about five years after broadcast in the UK. Problem was, at the time, they were considered a bit too"racy", for many markets, and only bought by big city stations. Where seen, however, the shows were tremendously popular with adolescence males. Benny Hill, was thought more "silly", than sexy, so got more airplay. I would say, of the two, Kenny's were the better shows.

Times were different when BH was going in late 60's and 70's (the prudes didnt rule the TV complaint lines then and the station exec actually catered for all tastes) So you just continue taking your showers n a gray raincoat at night with the light off darling and you will be ok. I agree. I was just 15 when he had his shows on Thames and we used to idolise Ken at school. Of course, the thought police have put an end to this kind of humour for good.

By far the best thing of Kenny Everett's show was Kenny Everett. His stage persona has never been surpassed in British comedy. He could have read a weather forecast and made it funny, just by being himself. Genius.
