  • Can someone help me as well? I am trying to play Super Mario Strikers and I followed all of your steps except I installed the MIOS patcher thing through wiigators installer. I go into neogamma and try to load the game. It starts to load on neogamma. Neogamma says, "reset drive" and the it crashes and resets my wii. Can you please help me?

  • @THEmaroonBANANA not MIOS, cMIOS

  • someone can help me when i select zelda wind waker for playing it my wii restart and when i press to play it restarts again can someone tell me a solution

  • I'm running super smash bros melee but I'm having an issue where the game will stall at certain points like when selecting game mode/character/stage and sometimes in game. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

  • @flantasticflan First, make sure you have revision 44 or higher. Another trick is to backup your SD card and format it to have 64kb clusters. Do this right click the drive and select "format" set the allocation unit size to 64 and click start. This will delete everything on the card, so I reiterate; make sure you back everything up.

  • So, last time I checked I was using DML r21, (I think)

Now it's at DML r47, how to update?

Because I have lots of files from the DML r21, nusd . exe, md5 . exe, WadMii . exe

etc etc, so can you tell me how to update to the latest revision? Also, will this help to reduce the sound issues?

Mario Party 7 is barely playable and NTSC SSBM makes weird noise when you press start before entering a level.

    Thanks in (GB)Advance

  • @speedruntrainer The instructions have't changed. The only difference is that you'll need to rename "DMLr47.elf" to DML.elf", as noted in the description. It won't fix audio bugs on "audio streaming" games like the Tony Hawk series. But yes, it makes Melee run flawlessly and probably Mario Party 7 as well.

  • Another question now :P Can I copy the files of my Wii SD Card and just put them in a SD HC?

  • @DiashyGuy To answer all your questions; Yes, you can use the same SD card. I believe this should be region free - though I think I read memory cards are region specific, so take caution. And yes, you can simply transfer all your current data from a SD card to a SDHC card and everything will work the same.

  • Thanks you it's working very well. I just need to buy a faster SD Card!

  • And if my Wii is PAL I must use a PAL game?

  • Can I use the SD Card that I used to hack my Wii?

  • Thank you for this tutorial but do I have to name it "game.iso"? What about copying to the SD card more than 1 ISO?

  • @honimeagel Yes. Watch the video closely, you need to keep the same file structure shown in the video or no program on the Wii will recognize the game(s). Because all Gamecube games have a unique disc ID (which is the 6 character folder name), you can have multiple games on the same card.

  • no usb compatibility=?

  • @Nekradude No. And it is highly unlikely there ever will be USB support because the Wii uses the same internal hardware to utilize USB devices as it does to run Gamecube games. The two conflict and it doesn't work.

  • @Robrob2315 Yes you can with Configurable USB Loader v70, its had Gamecube USB support! They have a integrated MIOS DIOS support (or something like that). Go check it out, I just found out (couple minutes ago). Do a tutorial for that one so everybody can enjoy Gamecube games (which are much better then Wii :)

  • @DemoScener It probably does the same thing PostLoader does, it will read the games from the USB drive then copy them over to the SD card before booting them from the SD card. Thanks for the tip though, I'll try it out. I have links in the description for all the programs that support Dios Mios Lite, if you want to check out some others.

  • @Nekradude Yes, you can play Gamecube games via USB with Configurable USB Loader v70. I'm just figuring out on how to put the ISO's on the HDD (file structure etc).

  • I boot my game and go to a green then black screen only for my Wii to reboot.. I have a disk (madden for gamecube) in the drive too.

  • @Rayan9976 I found this happened on certain revisions of DML (roughly between r20-r35). Make sure to be using r44. If the problem persists, I recommend using another method to boot the game. I have included download links to other programs that support DML in the description.

  • @Robrob2315 Thanks for the response. I'll test those.

  • @Robrob2315 Tested Neogamma with DML r21 and r44. r21 reboots the Wii and r44 does a green flash to black screen.. When I run with USBloader the ISO isn't being played the game in the disk drive starts up. So I start up The Wind Waker but Madden plays.

  • since i can't use the cleanrip program or neogamma because my disk drive in my wii disn't work, would this work using a combo of downloading a gamecube game iso file (of a game i own oviously) off the internet and using postloader after the work is done 2 play it?

  • @knuckles900 Yes, downloaded games will work. Just follow the same steps following the instructions after 2:22. The name of the ISO before running it through DiscEx is not important.

  • Good Job Man!!! It's a good tutorial :)

  • I tested Luigi's Mansion and it works flawlessly thanks so much, I subscribed.

  • i'm trying this right now, really nice done tutorial. Two thumbs up for that. I will comment and see if it works for me.

  • 1- Judging by your recent online activity & experience, do you perhaps have an explanation for the relatively long loading times for the backups loading off the SD card? 0.0

2- Please take your time. I'm in no rush. Lol Thanks. :P

3- For all people having trouble with Neogamma & other loaders, you guys could all try the (very) recent Mod of CFG Usb loader. Simple & works like a charm. Your Cube backups will automatically show up along with your Wii ones. Not to mention; cool covers. :)

  • @Anim8rDude I should add I download link to that. I love CFG USB Loader for its stability.

Loading times may be a little slower than using actual discs. If they're drastically slowed, that may be contributed to a low class SD card (class 2) or perhaps older cards that do not have a class rank written on them. If you're using r44 and a newer SD card, class 4 or higher, I see no reason that you should have long load times.

  • Is there anyway to save without using a gamecube memory card?

  • @MegaCubanX Yes there is. If you go to the Google code page for DIOS MIOS Lite (Google "dios mios lite code" and it will be the first link), navigate to the downloads page and grab the version labeled "precompiled r44 with nmm" and follow the steps above, as well as the updates in the description. Be forewarned; compatibility is speculated to be around 50%, and it may be a long time before that number rises. For now, I - and the developers - recommend using the default version.

  • Wind Waker and X Collection work perfectly. Testing Sonic Adventure 2 Battle [U] now.

  • Can somebody help me? I get everything onto NeoGamma, and once i select my game it says its resetting drive then audio re streaming set, then just RESTARTS the wii. what do I do?

  • @zooyork6633 Do you have a disc in the Wii's disc drive? That normally occurs if you have no disc inserted. If the problem persists, I recommend trying a different program to boot the games.

  • Can i still play GC games with a burned disc and official games too?

  • @psxdc64x Official, yes. I haven't tested with burnt games though.

  • Attempting to run The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker [U] and Megaman X Collection [U]. Will report back with results in a couple of hours.

  • Thanks so much this is awesome! I was trying to figure out how to do this for awhile. Sorry if this has been explained, I skimmed through all the comments and didn't see it, but is there anyway to save multiple games on SD card and choose which game to play at any given time? With not being able to change the name from "game.iso" I imagine I can only go with one game at a time, is that right?

  • @hippie07 You definitely can have multiple games on your SD card at one time. If you're using NeoGamma, just keep arrow-ing over to find them. Other loaders like USB Loader GX and WiiFlow display them like they do Wii games on a USB.

  • @danielkillsya2 Pokemon is still one of the few problematic games, but it should still show up. Try using something other than NeoGamma.

  • Im trying to play Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes and Im getting this: error module 'shared/mgso.rel is too big and some numbers.

Also I installed it like on video using DMLr13.zip. What do i do now to use this DMLr47.elf.

  • @Chomickass I updated the description for what to do for newer versions, read that.

  • Comment removed

  • @Robrob2315 Now my Wii is resetting after i load a game in NeoGamma. I have a disc in the drive. Before it was crashing after Konami logo. WTF!?

  • @Chomickass update to r44 and try something other than NeoGamma

  • @Chomickass I thought this didn't work with multi-disk games. Not that that's whats happening to you now, its just that I don't think you'll be able to swap "disks" later.

  • I went through step by step on the tutorial but since my disc drive is dead so I tried using PostLoader, I can see the game but it shuts down my Wii as soon as it tries to load it. So I tried WiiFlow but I can't find where to change it to the sd card from the usb. Anyone know where I change it to the sd card? I read some earlier posts that said they thought you might need a working disk drive for PLoader, but then someone else said you don't??

  • @granny7891 I believe I said in the video you don't need a disc for Postloader, but I later found out I was wrong. I don't have much information for broken drives, sorry. I would search for the newer Dios Mios Lite thread on GBATemp for your answer.

  • @Robrob2315 Thanks, I'll check that out. Do you know how to switch WiiFlow to the sd card? I can do it in Configurable USB Loader but it doesn't see the game.

  • @granny7891 Wiiflow does not allow you to boot Wii games from the SD card, if that's what you're asking. If you're looking for the DML menu, it should automatically recognize your Gamecube games if you switch through the menus Wii games -> NAND emu -> Homebrew -> DML. You may want to look for the file SD:/apps/wiiflow/wiiflow.ini and make sure that DML is enabled.

  • I found the "partition" option. It did see my AC game but it died on boot. I opened the config file and the first line has this [DML]current_item=GAFE01

    dump_list=no

    last_cf_mode=1

  • @Robrob2315

i have the latest cMios v10 do i need the dios/mios lite thing or can i just use my cMios?

  • @dude22072 No, you need DML for this to work. Don't fret, you can still play Gamecube games from the disc drive like normal, though I'm not sure if backups will still work.

  • @Robrob2315 just used clean rip to rip Legend Of Zelda: Four Swords and it worked i dont have dml though but i loaded from SD. i used both neogamma and postloader both worked

  • how can i update my DML version from r42 to r44???

  • @2000alexl Use the same method you did to create r42, and use the link in the description of the video (as well as read the instructions before it)

  • @Robrob2315 if i install it with the same way which i installed r42 with the only difference the download of r44 will the r44 overwrite the current version??

  • @2000alexl Yes.

  • @Robrob2315 ok thank you very much!!!

  • everything is loading well but when i try getting off the start menu from luigis mansion it freezes

  • doing something wrong can brick your wii?

  • @15Ibans Nothing shown in this tutorial has the capability to brick your Wii, even DML itself. Though as a precaution for other Wii modding, it is smart to install BootMii.

  • Hey man, great vid...but I've been having a lot of problems with this...

I got some completely different wad made from the program you suggested. Not only that, but after I tried using the installer for the Wii...it could not find IOS236...tried an installer that won't let me use it again because i accidently hit that i intend to use it for piracy. After I tried something else to create a WAD it had the same file name you had but I got Error -2011 or something along those lines....please help!

  • @2PACSHAKUR92 nvm i switched back to IOS 222 and it worked!

  • @2PACSHAKUR92 I would not recommend using the Wii-based installer. I feel it's unfair to trick people with the piracy question and require IOS236 and the MIOS files already present on your card. All of this could have been done online and on-the-fly. I've updated the video description. I hope this helps, if not, PM me.

  • @Robrob2315 please help me when i clean ripped eternal darkness it came out as a GCM file plz help and tell me how to covert it to an iso

  • @ShadowOfNexxus just rename the end of the title from ".gcm" to ".iso"

  • are the GC Iso's region specific? Like if my Wii is from USA, can I play Pal or NTSC-J? I've only gotten one Iso to work, the rest do not load, even though some are NTSC-U.

  • @iSupportTheeGameDude I'm fairly certain it's region free. If you use the latest revision (r44) almost all games should work.

  • @Robrob2315 I'm using the latest revision (r44) and I can only play 2 games, the rest won't work, wii freezes. I've also checked the ISO's by emulating them on my computer and all of them work. Don't know why it's not working on my wii lol :p.

  • @iSupportTheeGameDude I don't believe your IOS's will affect game-play. In case you haven't, it wouldn't hurt to install d2x cIOS v7 (Google it). I'd do that, then try different methods of booting (Wiiflow, postloader, USB Loader GX). It may even be the games your using or your SD card.

  • @Robrob2315 From what I found out, certain games have compatibility issues with gamecube backup launchers like neogamma. I google'd a gamecube backup launcher compatibility list. Most of the games I downloaded had compatibility issues. So, I had to follow the steps given and now my games work :).

  • Hello brother Asher you a tutorial in Spanish esque I do not understand

  • I dont get the option for "load GC games via DML"? help pls

  • @QL8842 Are you using the download link I posted for NeoGamma?

  • @Robrob2315 Thats what it was!!! thanks your a life saver!

  • How would it work with postloader? Neogamma didn't work since my wii doesn't read disks anymore even after replacing the laser. I tried postloader but when I select the game the wii turns off. Any idea why? I used DMLr21 if it makes a difference.

  • @311Kurisu I've read that even if you have a broken drive, you at least need to have a disc in the drive. Hope this helps.

  • @311Kurisu same problem i have did you manage to fix this ?

  • @311Kurisu i installed DML12 that fixxed it ;)

  • The only wad I got from doing the "create wad" process was RVL-mios-v10.wad

Shouldn't I be getting the wad named after the version I have or something?

  • @TheEvilAxeman9 I followed the instructions in this video and had the same problem. I updated the link for DML_create_wad. The method should be similar. Just make sure to rename DMLrxx.elf to DML.elf and place it in the same folder, then run "create_wad.bat" and it will prompt you with a few simple instructions.

  • @Robrob2315 Alright, thank you.

  • buy a cheap sd gecko clone on dx deal xtreme for 3 bucks,it is more reliable than this for boot gamecube games.

  • okay i resolved my other issues, but now the game i am trying to play will not work it neogamma knows the backup is there it trys to load you get a green screen the wii resets and goes straight to home menu doesn't even load my backup.

  • it first starts off saying DVD error 03023a00

  • I says DVD+R/bad burn/DL problem? when ever I attemp to play a game, It reconigizes that the backup is on the card but it will not play.

  • On Mario Party 7 I still have sound issues every few seconds so the game hangs too, yes, I used FSTFIX.

Do I need to use FSTFIX on that iso I play again? Or doesn't that work?

  • @speedruntrainer There are plenty of games with issues like this. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do but be patient and hope that future updates will increase speed. The current revision has much better speed, but has issues that still need to be resolved before it will be a featured download on the Google Code page.

  • Actually found out why it didn't work for me. Make sure not to rename the .iso that was created in DiscEX to a different name. It must be still named "game.iso", else Neogamma will not recognize it. So for example:

[GLME01] (game folder) - [sys] (folder) - game.iso (do not rename!)

    Hope that helps

  • I fixed it you have to put the folder that the program makes in the games folder

  • my game doesn't show up on the thing when I click a what's wrong please help me

  • @thesupergamer85:

Your game has to be in this path: sd:/games/(Title ID, if you updated your iso with DiscEX, it will automatically have it)/game.iso with the sys folder filled with boot.bin, apploader.img and bi.bin.

  • @DinerSals i did that but it wont show up on neogammer when i click DML

  • @AzureFlameKite64:

Your game has to be in this directory: sd:/games/(Title ID)/game.iso.

  • @DinerSals i did but i think im missing the dumpinfo file and bca of the game for it just like in the video but i cant even get it because the dumb cleanrip keep saying invaild file

  • @AzureFlameKite64:

No, the dumpinfo and bca file are totally not needed. They are just leftovers from CleanRip, you can do without them.

If you have trouble ripping the game, just find a iso online. It's not illegal if you own the disk.

  • @thesupergamer85 Could you be specific? What are you using to boot the games?

  • I follow every step and my game wont show up on the DML when i click it...... Help me please

  • On Neogamma, why I can't choose the option Load GC games via DML?

  • @speedruntrainer:

You have to have the latest NeoGamma. Head to wiihacks and find a guide that will help you.

  • hey man i need help. when i put loz ww it looks all glitchy and takes 5 min to go to title screen. Also when i play mario sunshine. it takes 4 mins to title screen and every time i go in a level or die it takes like 2 min. i am using r21 the latest. Thank you in Advance :)

  • @96zeldafan Use a better SD card =)

  • @HedgehogGamers well i guess

  • @96zeldafan:

I used to have that problem too. Did you use the Swiss patch at any point? Your game will run faster without it.

  • @DinerSals umm i think because i just followed this video and patched it but idk if it was swiss patch though

  • i softmoded my wii with modmii pack.... i got wiiflow now! what i need to do to get that dios mios thing running and play gcbackups from wiiflow via sd....

  • I got an problem the DML would read my game its wont show up?

  • OK, so I did every thing you said to do, get the game, put it to games, blah, blah...

but even with a GC game in the Wii, NeoGamma and PostLoader don't read the games. What gives?

  • @DinerSals Are they failing to boot or are they not recognizing any games at all?

  • @Robrob2315:

Nah, I got it working. Just wished the compatibility was better with more games.

  • How's the compatability with this? Do alot of Gamecube games work?

Also, is it possible to use backups from the internet to go on to Dios Mios? My Paper Mario 2's bloke and I wanna play it again.

  • @DinerSals Yes, every game I own has worked so far, but there are a couple of problematic games. And yes, they will work as well.

  • last question, do I need to uninstall r13 so I can install r21? If so, how?

  • @nielalvaro Nope, it will just be overwritten when you install r21.

  • How do I turn r21 into a .wad? I can't understand the FixELF thing, Pikmin 2 is not working!! >_<

  • @nielalvaro The steps should still be the same, just download the latest revision from the Google Code page and watch the video very closely.

  • Yea I did. Seems like it can't detect that the game is there.

  • do I have to be on d2x56v8beta(r41) IOS to run this. I am "no games found" when selecting GC from DML

  • @YoshinJa No, you don't. Have you followed all of these instructions?

  • @YoshinJa I had the same problem too. The games were outputted in the .GCM format after I used GCMUtility, so I just changed them to .ISO(by adding ".iso" to the end of the file's name via renaming). It worked fine after that, maybe that's your problem?

  • hi, i'm having some trouble with discex

i'm trying to compress zelda four swords and the thing says that it is compressing, it goes all the way to 100% but no folder with the game is found

i'm wondering if i'm doing something wrong because i am using to most recent version of discex

btw fixelf doesn't work either (another version of discex)

  • instead of making wad can i just play from usb with uneek?

  • @super1313131313 Unfortunately not. The older version was capable of this, but compatibility was very low and the games didn't not run very well. You can run this through sneek, but for the time being uneek is unsupported.

  • Thank you very much, I run F-Zero GX, it's near perfect performance. Thx my friend! =]

  • Dude, why does CleanRip say Motor off when I try to rip my Star Fox: Assault and Metal Arms disc.

    P.S. I'm on IOS58

  • will clean rip effect anything on sd card

  • @LBProcks47 It shouldn't, no. In my experience dumping 20+ Gamecube games, I've had no issues.

  • I would like to confirm that Neogamma will NOT work if your DVD drive is broken but Postloader does work for broken drives.

  • @SuperrSonic Thanks so much for confirming this. I've had a broken disc drive for 3 years now and I've been dying to play my gcn games again. Can't wait to try this out.

  • @secretchaos1 BTW Wiiflow works too on broken drives and uses 3D box covers.

  • @SuperrSonic Sweet, thanks for the tip.

  • question i saw a folder called "gcsaves" whats that for...?

  • @theevilgeniuz Backing up or replacing Gamecube game saves. Search for NuGasa

  • @fruriu: you did'nt get it did you> a WAD of Melee?

  • @nielalvaro Yes it works on a black Wii. It will work on EVERY Wii that is Gamecube compatible. New Wii's like the blue sonic edition that dont have Gamecube controller & memory ports will not be able to do this.

Just make sure your Wii has Gamecube ports & you'll be fine.

  • Does this work on a black Wii? I can't try it 'til Friday 'cuz I'm grounded. Please reply.

  • offtopic what do you use to record wii output?

  • I got Animal Crossing and Sonic Adventure to work with a broken dvd drive with postloader, once the drive is done with the annoying three clicks it boots the game fine. Thanks for the guide! :D I can't confirm Neogamma because it tells me it didn't find any games. Idk why.

  • Postloader shuts off my Wii when dml boots.

  • @SuperrSonic I tried my own advice and found the same thing. Sorry, it looks like you will need a disc in the drive for PostLoader.

  • Lol, I didn't know it worked without sneek+di

Could this work if your drive can't read discs?

  • @SuperrSonic Possible. I just found that PostLoader as well as Neogamma require a disc in the drive in order to boot. Try it and report back.

  • Hmm, looks useful but so much work for just one game :/

Do you think you could possibly send me a wad of melee? D:
