@gerryrains - The 'great artist' was Nikolai Rubinstein (1835-1881), one of the greatest pianists of his time, the founder of Moscow Conservatoire, Tchaikovsky's friend, the younger Anton Rubinstein's brother.
The first performers of this trio (1882) were: Sergey Taneyev (piano), Ivan Hrimaly (violin), Wilhelm Fitzenhagen (cello). Taneyev was Konstantin Igumnov's teacher (theoretical disciplines)

Very rare recording from 1939. They only did the first movement. Later or, DFO recorded the complete work with Oborin and Knushevitsky..
