You are a great teacher and you play nicely. I still want to buy and play Cello, i usually write my music on piano, but you know how that goes. Converting piano to string "string. "
Thanks Man. The output is low on this ribbon mic. Lucky the little preamp has some gain.
There is a Mod for the Nady RSM-4 that sounds promising. New transformer and screen removal. I'm hoping the end result will be more detail. What I REALLY need is a proper audio interface!!
Have you ever thought of bowing this all detached apart from the first 3 semis of the 1st & 3rd beats? I like to think of slurred bowing as the melodic line and the detached as harmonic. Especially in this prelude. 8 Semis to a bow is too romantic for me and Bach hardly ever wrote 8 to a bow. I like some of your ornaments.
while playing bach make sure not to clip some of the notes and you and slightly changing rhythms which in bach is not called for. this character is nothing close to that of bach. your vibrato is to tense you need to relax your left hand.
what is interesting is if you want a beautiful Bach closer to the fingerboard, sul tasto for a warm sound, or more metallic closer to the bridge, this would be more "negative" interpretation, both ways are valid, depends what you yourself see in Bach.
I don't know what that one guy meant about Bach's character, Stupid retard.(him not you) I am probably going to apply for the hill country cello institute and I need to play two solo pieces. One has to be a sonata (class one) or a concerto (class one). The other one has to be a Bach cello suite. I can play pretty much all positions and I can read tenor and treble clef. I need your assistance in choosing.
I don't know if you received my last e-mail because my sent messages folder was empty. Just incase, here's this. I hope you remember who I am. I was the cello soloist who you coached at YOSA.
i am going to continue this message on to another comment slot.
What is sad to me is a comment like, "Its not the bach c[h]aracter..." to be tragic. Owning seven different recordings of the suites (Wispelwey's 2nd recording being my favorite, closely behind tying for second-place is Casals and Rostropovich), what is so beautiful about these early 18th century compositions is their highly emotive, often contemporary sounding character and so, 'bravo' to you for your clear enjoyment of Bach and the courage it takes to post these personal expositions.

You play very beautiful! With a lot of feeling.
Try to do everything like in 0:45. That's the best part!

One thing I love about Bach is that each cellist can interpret the music in a slightly different way. I really enjoyed your performance here.

una buona interpretazione barroca, niente vibrato

Didn't really like this but play anyway you want. It's your decision to make and if you're satisfied that's very good.

Please give me a list of repertoire to choose from. Regarding the Bach cello suite, I would like one that has a range of styles, etc. Thanks, Peter
