I had the HONOUR, in 1992 to play this as solo oboe accompanied by the McGill Wind Symphony as part of a Nordic festival at that University. Gorgeous piece. I must make a MIDI accompaniment and play it again.

our choir sang this with no accompaniment for heritage festival annaheim 2010 and won 1st place gold for concert choir.

Fäbod doesn't mean cattle barn. It was a place in the forest or hills where young people would stay with the herd all summer long. A lonely place, as the music portrays so well.
