  • Well that was interesting still stud house well the stud come in stand sizes not custom and it will flex a lot when using it that why it's only use in commercial not house build and 11 weeks to frame a house wow

  • nice tips

  • This has been a lot of help to my Design Tech coursework, thanks for uploading it!

  • 11 weeks.!!!!!! wow.. fired!!!!! too long

  • @five4allday thats probably becuase they were waiting for permits plumblers electricians and stuff like that. I have been on jobs that took a yeah and its cause we were waiting on other tradesmen.

  • Its hurricane 4 proof ? Because I will like to have one but I live in Puerto Rico which is in the Caribbean Sea and the island have been hit for 3 to 4 hurricanes during each year.

  • jajajajajammmmmm

  • I'm not to confident about metal after seeing WTC 7 collapse.

  • @fromthe209 Out of everything I've seen on youtube over the past 10 years, you, Sir, made the stupidest comment ever. Congratulations. Don't forget to have your meds refilled this week.

  • wow

  • Nice idea but the cost needs to catch up to the technology. In this eco friendly world we live in today we still think are time is most important and thats why wood age is still in demand. This house in question 7 weeks verses one week wood.

  • I want a 25 by 25 home, now how much?

  • The company I am looking at out of Texas offers man made walls (interior & Exterior) with their steel kits which is better and the windows and doors also. The price is right since the cost of wood in the mid-west is very expensive. I want to build one here in Arkansas sometime within a year.

  • 10000 degrees lol

  • i like metal, in the bath room when a stud warpes it pops the tile off your wall.

  • The only way to do trim work in a steel house there has to be wood involved and as far as termite damaged they are right about the moisture but metal and steel will rod if it's exterior especially on decks(joist hangers) in summer wood expands and metal shrinks and winter it does the opposite but craftsmenship looks great. (Crawford Construction)

  • Steel framing ligther than timber. making it faster to erect! Doesnt rot! IS compatible with timber for nogging out. Frames are dead straight when delievered. Best part of all. YOU dont have much shit to clean up at the end of the day, the only tools youll need is a Ramset, drill, screw gun, and a level. Once Framing is delievered Ive seen this shit ( framing only) go up in 2 weeks. PERIOD.

  • smart man, yes metal over wood anyday, the only reason someone should pick wood is they dont have enough money to afford the metal framing, cause yes its more, and they, for some reason HAVE to do it now and can't wait. Other then that, metal framing anyday.

  • The first thing you need is a brain, hands, measuring tape and a job.

  • All in all, if I was building in CA, I'd be looking at a concrete exterior, steel stud interior - make it as fire proof (and for teh next 25 years in CA - riot proof...)

  • anyone who says that you can do more custom work with metal more so than lumber is an idiot. I've been in high-end custom carpentry for over 15 years. I want to see real custom metal work stair cases and foyers with radii in the band joists. these guys obviously don't know any better.

  • what the hell does he mean metal doesn't rot? ever heard of rust??? They make fire retardant lumber as well. Lumber is way better.cheaper, faster, easier to work with, and stronger. lumber homes are stronger because of the weight of the material. as far as mold, ever heard of mildicide? on average it takes 4x longer, and thousands more dollars to use metal. Lumber is also recyclable...do the math first

  • Galvanized is the metal dude. Galvanized

  • 13 years experience , he,s just a baby, never trust anyone with less than twenty years or more, peace

  • I have been in the trade 28 years and steaddy, no layoffs, because safety is first, then hard work and never cry like the tapers.

  • Comment removed

  • So what youre saying is that he sounds like a blue collar steel worker?

  • how can metal rot when it is galvanizied. We have had thousands of studs sitting out in our stock piles for several years and they still are fine. granted after 5-10 years of rain and snow they might start to rust. Once there enclosed in a building there good forever.

  • im doin a big side job now finishing a friend of mines parents basement with all metal and they've never seen it before it blew them away how much better it is over wood after some simple examples and once some of the walls/bulk heads were up.

  • hey monkey i'm with ya bro been building homes for 26 years now i,m doing metal and i would never build my house with it lmfao what about rust

  • they dont rust, and thats all you have over metal? metal is always stright 100%, no wayne, no rot, no knots, no crown, no bow twice the fire retant with-stand, and you can tuck and hide and do so much more along the 'custom' lines of framing with metal its no contest. If a customer can afford the little bit more metal is over wood, there's no reason why not to use metal.

  • The only "why not" is the cost... it's still considerably more money - I'd rather have a steel stud house... but the cost is simply too much... + I've got a 1957 house... and am not likely to ever do a ground up house for myself .... too much tension...

  • i'v been doing metal studs for 15 years and I did wood for 2. I prefer metal over wood anyday. It is always straight. You can get different gauges so it is stronger. The reason why you don't see as much in residencial is simply the cost factor. You buy a 8' 2x4 for roughly 1.80-2.00. Metal on the other hand will run you about 4.00. "1988 monkey" has no idea what the hell he is talking about. Get out of the old and in to the new retard.

  • agree with brian, monkey is an idiot! metal framing rocks!

  • hello , i am lek, can i ask ?? my husband is english and the work here has gone so hes looking to do metal stud in other countries, where are you? is metal a big thing in the usa ? and what do they pay for building this way ? please. my husband has worked with this for 12 yrs and he has all uk pass tickets so he is very qualified, thank you for any reply. xx.

  • funny how you say it is fire proof. steel stud melts to the heat faster then wood burns. learn your stuff man. wood framing is far better then wood framing, why do you think it is still used? real carpenters hand cut roofs have fun with your "custom metal homes"....retard

  • Metal is much better then wood, but the cost is higher. That is why you don't see it in homes that much.

  • Wood is for fires and termites! ICF concrete and steel is the future of home building!Energy efficient and last a lifetime and more!

Steel melts at 2700 degrees.Wood starts to char between 390 and 530 degrees and ignites between 530 and 930 degrees. As that guy said, wood is still used because of the cost of the steel and extra labor to install it! Wood is for fires and termites!

  • good video. steel stud layout is a good trade.

  • Thanks!
