I have seen all videos on youtube according to nord lead 2, it has much worst sound that nord lead 3, buy nord lead 3 or of course Access Virus if you a "trance" man.
@DarrenMalla I own a VIRUS TI the sound is different but is a great piece of gear , sure the best is to have both of them a virus and a nordlead-2x or3 they sound very different great synths both
I m also planning on getting a nordwave or nordlead 2x cos the 3 is nowhere to find :(
@DarrenMalla The TI in virus stands for total integrated, u can use it almost like a normal vst up to 16 midi chanels, the only drawback is that u don t have 16 different outputs for each midi track for the virus.
I m sure u can setup a nordlead as an external instrument so u send midi data to the nord from daw and receive back trough your soundcard in to your daw (via 1/4 audio cables), audio from the nord.
Either one u get it s a winn virus is more confortable to use but both sound good
@ginocote because if u buy it with 1$ or euro is like its free ...that 1 dollar wont change your life course ...thank you Alan for the patches ...great sound design...
@LittleNegrillio I would say it's true when it comes to PsyTrance music.... because the 2X is sharper (I just uploaded a video with psytrance sound examples with the 2X)..... for Trance, alanmarcero is right
I saw many nord lead clips but no one is re-created set Soundovi used by "Chicane" or "Steve Helstrip" from "The Thrillseekers-a". Will someone finally try to? Remember those atmospheric pads?
@alanmarcero So what effects/stacking did you use for the first part of this demo? (The Alt+F4 bit.) I just downloaded and installed your presets on my NL3 and I'm dying for that sound!
the first one is from audioplacid, moonflight , lovely track . and if you like that sound check out my playlist , got some nice trancetracks filtered out of the youtube chaos. , just if you like always welcome to my channel , . a playlist specialist in progress , all kinds of music sorted out by genre ,.
The NL3 has a much better filter. The Nord 2x has more cutting/in your face oscilators.
NL3 is much more versatile, more poly, great sounding unison mode which doesnt eat poly. It really baffles me that they dropped the NL3 to continue making the NL2x. Maybe it was because source certain parts (i.e. the encoders).
The NL2x is fine....but I would only spend £500 second hand for one....and it would need to be mint condition. NL3 I would pay upto £800.
@wonderwaffe its a good synth but better to save up for the virus TI2, thought about getting the nord wave first but after i saw how versatile the virus TI2 is i got it instead.
soz mate x.x Now all I gotta do is get a NR3, things sound AWESOME, I had no interst in getting one till I heard this. <- totally a virus guy :P I'll also save the addy after I've gotten a chance to check em out :3 if they get used in something commercial I'll return and give you your part. :3
@BlackGnosis You seriously wouldn't pay for this patches? I mean, if you can afford the synth itself ... This is after all a great freakin' set of patches and i seriously hope people buy him a beer for making this and distrubiating (i'd love to spell-check that word) the way he does. I say this because i've made a couple of banks myself, for private use, and know how much work it can be.
@Glisevask *offers a brain* I dont have a NR3 to drop em in, I've saved the address after I've had a chance to drop them into a NR3 I'll pull it up and pay him, for all I know I might not get my hands ona NR3 at all. (Distributing.) These are a great set, but my issue is I kinda need the synth to drop em in first :D
@Glisevask I used to think they were Norwegian due to the "nord", but it turns out their founders name was Hans Nordelius. Honestly before this vid, I hated nords and thought them as paper weights/useless over priced synth, but the NL3/NR3 clearly has not only epic sonic character but also the flexibility to be as awesome as a virus or a ms2k :D I just love how aggressive some of the leads and gental and soft the arp'd pads are in this patch set from the vid. puts my Roland JP-8080 to shame.
@BlackGnosis Yeah, i can see why you would believe that! It's a shame norwegians have a tradition for hating the swedish, because they make alot of great sound hardware and software!
I feel that it's wrong to compare the nord's to other synths because it's not trying to be something it's not. It has it's own character and either you like it or you don't. I do love it!
I feel that it sounds a little "plastic", but in a strange, good way. And i dare say it's one of the worlds most sexy synths! =)
Seriously, i can't even find this synth at ebay. I'm so near just taking the bus from Oslo til Stockholm and make Clavia make one for me. It's all about the 2X, but the 3 is no where to be found. =/
They were unable to get the parts they needed to continue production. GREAT SYNTH, I have used one before. I currently own a JP8000, Virus KC, MS2000, MS20 and a Revolution R2 TB303 Clone. I love synths!!!
@moreya85 The 2x is nice, it soudns a bit more "analog" than the 3. The 2x will not load patches form the 3 and the 3 will not load patches from the 2x. Many people actually own both since they are quite different.
@moreya85 Just released an Andromeda bank. I also have a Waldorf Q and XT that need patch banks but I'm still not 100% sure I'll be dedicating the time to them.
@moreya85 I like the idea of the 2X. I had an original Nord Lead a few years ago. It was pretty intense but lacked a lot of modern features so it was sold. As for new patch banks, eh, not really. I still have a Waldorf XT staring at me, begging for a sound bank. :D The Nord Lead 2X is probably the most likely hardware synth to get a patch bank from me, but I'm most likely going to branch out into software synths like Largo and some Arturia instruments.
@moreya85 programming synth is so simple man... and the documentation that comes with the Nord is so well done if you're new to synths... after a few reading, I can tell you, you will be able to do any sound you want.... since I have the Nord, I never used a preset ever again... I make all my patchs
@moreya85 Just released an update to my Andromeda bank. A bank designed specifically for the VIrus A/B/C is in the works and also a JP80x0 bank. Planning on doing a VSTi bank after that, too.
this is how a true analogue synth sounds like
youtube.com/watch?v=OCCm00KESUk
btw virtual analogue is the same as VST but with a good soundcard that make it sound closer to a real synthesizer
