The MegaUpload takedown and arrests may be complete bullshit, but I don't think it was a response to the SOPA protests and blackouts. It does take time and planning to raid all their servers and arrest them all the way over in NZ.

@TheMolotovTaco But the part that amazed me was that a US judge said that the United States had jurisdiction to arrest people in New Zealand because MegaUpload had a server in the United States that had pirated content on it. Outrageous.

@MrBeresterk The Pirate Bay was already taken down (at least) once. It was back up pretty quickly, and the court comments from the former owners were quite lulzy.

@MrBeresterk My idea is, if they broke a New Zealand law, then their police will arrest them. But if they break a US law but are in New Zealand, then the US comes to New Zealand to throw you in jail, that's crazy. I'm not supporting what they did, but I don't agree with the US policy of "Do what the hell the MPAA wants because they pay us to."
