Wow typical fucking liberal "If we are meaning with them and talking with them offering them carrots and sticks" Bunch of fucking hippies. Negotiating solves nothing. The USA has an army, the best army in the world. USE IT!!!!!!!! Show your iron fist and kill the fucking terrorists.
You not serious right? Im no liberal, but you seriously think invading Syria or Iran (or Iraq) will just stop terrorism somehow? The major flaw with the "War on Terror" is simple you trying to fight the Islamist ideology at its extreme. Oddly enough planting US troops in the heart of the Islamic world doens't quell these beliefs. By your logic we'd have all been dead under a cloud of radiation circa 1962
Hmm, yes, and the US Army is doing brilliantly well in Iraq. Now thats no slight against soldiers in the US Armed Forces, but its a large scale conventional army and therefore not suited for the combat you're speaking of. As well, because the US has generally poor relations around the world, they can not possibly gain the support of local citizens necessary to win a guerilla style war. You can't win these wars with predator drones and smart bombs.
It was Powell who made the most eloquent and vocal argument for moving the war on terror to Iraq. He worked for five Republican Presidents who promoted him, gave him power and prestige. Now he turns his back on everything he ever stood for in his public life by and private life by supporting Obama. Why would anyone trust his judgment now? I sure don't. Is this a race thing or has he really radically changed everything he believed in?
Vote for someone because they inspire! Thats not voting because of issues! I dont see change when both candidates vote for the Patriot Act and The Bailout. I dont see change when both candidates have voted against lowering taxes! I dont see change when both candidates want to stay in Afghanistan. I dont see change when both candidates ignore the problem with our monetary system.
It's very easy to pick a handful of issues out of hundreds to support your assumption. There are a lot of changes to the system Obama is supportive of. Try going to his web site. You can do the same with McCain then compare them. You also have to take the change in Congress into considertion since it is them that passes any legislation before sending it to the President. So there are many factors in play to exactly what changes take place. This country is changing by the day. So will policies.
Unfortiantly I looked at both websites and there voting records at a site called.. On The Issues. I do not like that Obama promised to repeal the Patriot Act and did the opposite, banning guns, voted for Illegal Imigrents to have Social Security. Totally Ignores the constitution and hes not for a simpler easier tax system were your only taxed once. I wont even mention redistrubtion of wealth.
Mccain lies about being a conservative. Voted against raising taxes 3 times in a row, voted against fair trials for terrorist, Voted for social security for illegal imigrents, voted for the patriot act, voted for stricter punishment against drugs, Very pro death penalty voting record. Look at On The Issues. I am Voting third party this year even though I live in a swing state.
If it hadn't been for some big loser like Bush, sitting in the White House for 8 years, do you honestly believe Powell would have endorsed someone like Obama? Obama's political success is completely hinged upon Bush's total failure as a leader.
His political success is hinged upon the complete failure of the Republican party over the last decade. It was like a three ring circus of corruption every week. You had spying on Ameircans, outing CIA agent, K Street scandals with Abramoff and Delay, firing of US attornes, destroying WH emails, the war of lies in Iraq, the thefts of hundreds of billions of dollars, doubling the national debt, inept cronies and lobbyist contamination, pandering the the wacko religiou nuts, gutting the Constituti
Why focus on Obama's faith? Being a Christian doesn't make you GOOD; proof positive are the derogatory statements made here - not Christian. Love the Lord.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. You have heard it said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. (Matthew 5:43) When we love God with all our heart, we recognize that everyone is part of His creation.
Am saddened by Powell's support of Obama who openly supports the redistribution of wealth, unfettered abortion, the hate crimes and hate speech bills, gun control etc - everything that wars itself against the very heart of every Americans rights to freedom and liberty as outlined in the Constitution which he once swore allegance to. To further claim Obama is a Christian is also shocking and shows that Powell is equally uneductated in scripture!
Lies and right wing talking points don't hit it anymore. As far as the Constitution has gone there has been no bigger attacks on the Constitution than we have witnessed under Bush. He fancied himself as a dictator and said so just like McCain. His 1100 signing statements gutting our laws is more than the total of every single president in our history.
Who cares? He spent most of his time in the Army sucking up to politicians, which is the only reason he got those stars. His actual MILITARY record is mediocre, compared to most combat leaders.
Hell, he never even commanded a division.
Being picked as Nixon's aide and then Cap Weinberger's made him enough Congressional buddies to get him his stars, but everyone in the Pentagon knew he was just prepping for a political career.
He was passed over as division cdr since he had so little combat time, and almost NO time leading troops. He was strictly a staff man at HQ.
Keep in mind that as an Americal Division staffer, he was the one that WHITEWASHED the My Lai Massacre ... and only media attention got the case prosecuted later.
Since he was dumped as Natl Security Advisor by Bush, he has a real bone up his ass about Republicans.
This doesn't change my mind about anything. Everyone knows that Powell is a progressive. I expected for him to fall for the Obamamania. Obama is not a Christian by no means. Regardless of who he sits with. What he stands for says alot about him. So for Powell to suggest anything else than what Obama has protrayed is deceitful and I question those motives.
He was fine with you when he was supporting Bush in his war of lies. This sounds like nothing, but sour grapes. You tune would have been one of joy had it been the other way around. I know this from going to rightie sights that were suggesting months ago that Powell would support his old vietnam friend McCain. In fact McCain has been in constant contact with him looking for support. Cry to someone that will believe the fake tears.
MMM.. Colin Powell was the one who did not agree with Bush going war in Iraq. Powell has been constantly not agreeing with Bush policies, especially war in Iraq. Get your fact rights, and his endorsement for Obama is a huge slap in the face of Bush Admin. And please don;'t pull that 'blacks vote for blacks; because whites have been voting for whites for more than 200 years, and non whites have done their part to do so.
You might be answering the wrong person. I didn't say anything about blacks voting for blacks. I agree that it is a huge slap in the face for Bush and McCain. I support Obama. I also know that Cheney and Powell had a on going argument over the invasion and they hardly even speak to each other. What I don't know is why he presented Bush's information about WMDs to the UN. That's the puzzling part of he story. I hope he writes about that one day. Maybe cutting the Bush ties he'll do that.
We need that answer for him, im just tired listening to some closeted.racist tries to justify the reason why powell endorses obama because he is black. well, if thats the case, we can conclude most white people are racist because they have been voting, supporting, endorsing white presidents. how ironic huh.
Do I believe Obama is a racist? ABSOLUTELY. Will I still vote him? I have been given no choice. He is still the lessor of the two evils. If the Repub.came up with a 1/2 decent candidate, I would have voted for him/her. They put the nail in the coffin w/Palin.
This interview misses the point of Obama's statement that HE, AS PRESIDENT would meet with them. Powell said in other interviews and panels that the President should meet with them without the precondition of Sec/State having met with them first.
Gen. Powell thusfar has made only one campaign contribution. While he could have done so privately, he chose instead to do so in tandem with a press release: To John McCain for the maximum allowable amount...They are "longtime, good friends." He is also still known to be good friends with Gen. Schwarzcopf, who also endorsed McCain, as did Powell's own son. It is unlikely that any Obama endorsement is forthcoming...perhaps a trump card announcement of a McCain running mate is in the works.
Because I think to fix washington we may need a bipartisan ticket- and actually - obviously Powell would be a great choice - and his ethnicity in this case would be his primary minus - such a minus in fact - that it'll never happen!

why do they have such great "synergy" because they are both black?
Powell is a devout republican. he is just a moderate(which is probally why Bush dropped him)
obama is a hard leftist who is anit-big military, which is one of powells big GOP pro points
obama is pro choice, powell isn't
obama is pro-capital gains tax, and powell isn't
so were is the synergy outside of ethinicity
why do you think Powell sacrificed his legacy for the GOP
