As well from the spot where the kite surfer was the aproach path is about 100 yards down from them.

It's fake because first of all, that plane is travelling at around 180mph. The chute would never have catched the plane without rupturing and even if it wouldn't rupture, the guy would not have been able to hold on to the chute (way too much kinetic energy as it hits the plane). Also the parachute would probably never reach the plane in the first place. It's simply too short.
