I have a 2010 Roubaix Elite (just below the comp but with the same frame). Just rode it on a supported ride from the Seattle area to San Francisco on the coast doing about 80 miles per day, every day. It does as advertised - long distances at high speed. I can also speak from direct experience that it does NOT fail after 1000 miles (in fact 1000 miles barely took any of the bits out of calibration).
It's not everything you want in a bike unless it is the kind of bike one wants. It would not be everything a racer wants, for example. I would be more favorably impressed and trusting if you didn't do the salesman thing, and just provided facts. It's a great bike, I just bought one.
The Sirrus is a good solid bike. It's not a heavy-duty touring bike, for that you would look elsewhere. But it's certainly not going to self-destruct at 1,000 miles. In fact, the frame has a lifetime warranty for the original owner unless it's been crashed or abused.
I hope your not saying my really nice Sirrus Compact will just give out at a thousand miles. Is that all bikes give is that many miles? What do you mean by explode? The frame won't just brake. I mean I know it's aluminum but I don't intend to fall. I have my loaded panniers and bike ready so I am scared of your reply. Can you please elaborate?
I have a 2006 Specialized Sirrus Comp. I don't know what kind of bike it is. I know it's a road bike, but is it possible to take a bike like mine on an extended tour? Maybe a thousand miles with thirty lbs. of gear on the bike rack? If anyone could tell me I would really appreciate it.
@botchalism What do you mean? In general or with that much weight. Like a spoke would break. I'm prepared to fix flats and spokes on the road and other things.
@BWCC01 the shock dissipation throughout the frame is nice. Also, I am very uncomfortable on roadbikes, but loved my old specialized cheap mountain bike, that (not too low) lower hand bar seems interesting (this bike is out of my financial range, but specialized road bikes look interesting). does this explainer design bikes? seems quite knowledgeable.
Good overview, but you've got some concepts of the front end geometry a bit confused. An increase in fork rake results in reduced trail, not more trail. The increased rake is used to offset the effects of the 72 degree HT angle. With a standard 43mm rake fork and a 72 degree HT the bike would have nearly 65mm of trail, which result in excessively slow steering, they used more rake (49mm) to reduce the trail to 59mm, which gives you a stable bike that is still responsive.
@44pullups Steel is real. I have a Gitane-Performance and a Miyata-912 that I will never part with. Bought a 2005 Fuji-Roubaix aluminum framed cycle w / carbon seat stays and forks a few years ago and feel the same way about it too. If I were told I had to make a decision between the two steels and my Fuji though ? Bye bye steel.
Some pretty stupid comments here. This gentleman explained the benefits of a bunch of subtle features in a clear, non-technical way. Kudos and thanks for a helpful video.
Beautiful,I love you specialized however I wish you coud or maybe would utilize the same tech and give some of us who want the hard angles in the framing back. My stump mntn 2000/2001 m4 is a classic and ........I love it. I want another frame(med 19") from the same yr mint. If anyone has the power and it dosent cost a fortune pls let me know.
Hi you guys. I just has a new cylinder put in my front shock. It was warrentied so it went well. My question to you/ Will i lose air as THAT was my probem before the new cylinder was put in. i was told that i needed new seals in the front too but they were NOT put in today. I wish they would have put them in too as they told me that they should be replaced yearly. any comment would be appreaciated. Thanks
Reminds me of Leslie Neilson! He should do another Naked Gun movie.

I've seen issues where the older roubaix frames are breaking...if it were me, I'd stay away from specialized.
