  • my friend read the last one like thousand times.

  • if you end up loving The Catcher in the Rye, and the way that Salinger writes, you HAVE to read Franny and Zooey. It's a very descriptive pair of stories and it came highly recommended to me, and I did in fact love it also.

  • Do you read as fast as you speak?

I just randomly came across your video and im new to this passion of literature on youtube.I guess if you love it share it,keep up the good work :)

  • @darrenwalshsock Aw thankyou! haha I'm getting there - I think its all relative to how fast I THINK, which depends on the day :D x

  • @darrenwalshsock Im going through the same thing, I love watching book hauls and I read all the time now :)

  • "Waiting to exhale" is a great book the movie is awesome too!! Im sure that Queen Latifah is not in that movie though. lol.

  • I love that you've done a whole video on a book haul, i larveeee it. I LOVE reading like hella loads and i'm always hunting for more books to read. Currently reading three books at the same time :') i just see a book, pick it up and cant stop reading so i end up reading lots of books at the same time aha i've just finished water for elephants and i thought it was a fantasic book, read it on holiday. Really enjoyed it, loved the way its written. Do more videos on books and i'll love you forever.

  • Hello :) ! Once you've read Water for Elephants, could you tell me what you think of it please ? I don't know if I should read it or not. Thank you :). Great video by the way !

  • Extremely loud and incredibly close is amazing

  • I just finished never let me go ... SOOOO good unsure bout whether to watch the film as i just love the way it played out in my head. I really recommend his other books read An Artist of the Floating World and now reading The Remains of The Day. Hope USA was good.

  • This is the third time I've watched this :P

  • Due to your recommendation on Reluctant Fundamentalists and I loved it so I purchased the Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ and starting to read them tonight!

  • read a girl called Thursday by Lilian Harry it's sooooooooooo good :)

  • What is "Life after God" about?

  • @mahogonywhisper I will let you know :)

  • Apparently, "Unde the feet of Jesus" isn't a Christian book at all.

  • @mahogonywhisper no no, its not. but its still good :D

  • @jsutkissmyfrog I'm sure it is :D

  • water for elephants is so good...you will love it : )

  • @fourpartharmony100 oh God. I will deffinatly read that in daylight then.

  • How long would it take you to read all of these?

  • How can everyone afford to buy so many new books? :P I can barely afford the old, duilapidated copies off ebay.

  • haha i love it how you get all orgasmic over books! :L Do you read all those books at the same time? If you do how do you function with all that going on?!

  • I've not read either of the Douglas Coupland books you bought but I've read three other books by him (Microserfs, Jpod, and Hey Nostradamus) and they're all excellent. So I hope you enjoy the two you bought. He's amazing =)

And I read Waiting to Exhale about six years ago when I was in Japan because it was one of a handful of English books I could find... And while I was reading it, it came on the TV! Craziness. It is fairly trashy but it's not a bad read =P

  • Also thanks for adding to my already ridiculously long list of books to read over the summer! :@

  • Actually love the way you dictated how I was gonna get prepared and I paused this video and went and me a cuppa. nomnom! X

  • You make me want to read more :) You're doing a good thing and it's wonderful you're showing people more than just hair and makeup etc xxxx

  • Hey,

'Ishmael' by Daniel Quinn is one that I would recommend you to read at sometime, as it is a good story, easy to read and is very informative: has very interesting interpretations of some of the major stories in the bible etc.

  • You're amazing!! :)

  • I have In the Lake of the Woods! I haven't read it though. I actually canoe/camp up there! I'm scared to read it haha.

  • I love reading and that is why I totally love this haul. Best book haul evaaar! My favourite book: The shack by W. Paul Young. It is beyond amazingness. <3 Oh and you look very pretty. :)

  • @sdev1989 hahah I actually started that book and never finished it ! I'm so glad you liked it, reviews on the books will start next week!

  • Just to let you know, You've made me read :) i am so dyslexic and get really angry and frustrated with reading but i bought Ali Smith Girl Meets Boy and i have to say i am so hooked, thank you, you angel!

  • @katiiee3000 lol aww Katie! thats the best thing ever!!!! :D I'm so glad! I wish I could do the same for my boyfriend, he's dyslexic too - I never thought I could be in love with a boy who has NEVER read a book, lol. Do let me know what else you go and read :) also, i havn;t forgotten I have been tagged my you in the fashion tag, it will happen one day, I'm sorry!

  • @jsutkissmyfrog im currently reading Harvesting my Heart my jodi picoult

  • water for elephants is pretty good but I like the fantasy ones and the classics

    xx

  • You should do book reviews on some of them! The Catcher in the Rye is amazing. Holden Caulfield is a one of a kind character. I also recommend Bill Bryson's A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail. Hilarious!

  • awww..charlie and the chocolate factory used to be my favourite book, when I was a child. :D I could taste the yummy chocolate.

I think I need to read The Catcher in the Rye, too...I always want to, but then I never do.

  • Hey! I was overly excited when you pulled out the whole Roald Dahl package. I bought this a couple months ago for my 7 year old sister. However, once she is done with it I am taking it back. Haha. Great Haul. :Dx

  • That was a rather impressive haul of books! I don't think that I have read any of them, but I am very interested to hear what you have to say about Pullman's novel. Have you read any of his other works? I adore the HDM trilogy

I loved Roald Dahl's stories as a child, though the Witches scared the living bejesus out of me... especially as my grandmother had a large collection of mouse figurines.

Fun Fact: The Little History of the World was banned during the Nazi Regime for being too pacifistic

  • You've made me want to add like a more million books to my already extremely long "to read" list!

  • Have you read The Book Thief - i found it such a beautifully written book and a must read for anyone interested in history! Loved watched this, and I too have an obsession with new front covers!

  • Waiting To Exhale film, how can you not know about that film, must be a black thing lol, us black folks (abit of American twang/ slang, even though im British lol) all know seen, or know of the movie. I actually av it on DVD ;)

You need some arty type book in there, thats whats missing ;) lol. Cool vid btw. x

  • but isn't it always blah blah blah. YES DO MORE OF THESE videos. I LOVE them! I always need new ideas for books. Ive been in a complete and utter RUT lately, but I will order War Paint next. U know ALL. x

  • Oh, how I wish I knew more about books. I basically read a lot of books, but at the end I either say "it was good" or "no, didn't like it". I CANNOT EXPAND! WAR PAINT. YUP I'mma order that tonight. You've just solidified that for me! I thought I had a collection of Roald Dahl books, but you have seriously put me to shame. The TWITS. THE TWITS! Notes From a Big Country will be mine as well. I've been eyeing that up, too. Gotta say Never Let Me Go was MUCH better in book form..

  • When I was really little my mum would take me to the libary and I would always get "Elmer the Patchwork Elephant" by David McKee. Then when it was time to take it back I would either hide it untill the next time I came, or just get it back out again so no one could have it :')

  • OMG I have such a beautiful couple of Shakespeare's sonnets and Ant thinks I'm weird because I like to stroke it and smell the pages but you do it too :D Also, very jealous of your Roald Dahl books... I NEED THEM! x

  • Argh! How good was Vintage week on Lisa Eldrige? Loved her dragon fly headband too.

    Bill Bryson = <3

I absolutely love A Little History of The World. One of my favourite people in the world read it to me, and I will always have a spot for it in my heart. I hope you love it!

Never Let Me Go totally changed the way I thought about the people I know. How wise is Kathy H? She just knows so much about why people do the things they do. Loved it so much.

    xx

  • "Having a book and being able to throw them at someone" What haha? Slightly scary, if I ever meet you person I shall be bringing a shield along with me! Just wondering, have you read Looking for Alaska? :)

  • i have to say I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!! Also i really want to read The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ ..i heard of it a while ago but then i forgot about it lol you should do a review!

  • A review would be great :). I recently read For One More Day by Mitch Albom and it was such a good read.

  • I love Coupland! He's an author I get excited about, so I hope you like that book! I personally didn't understand what all the fuss was about regarding Catcher - much prefered Franny & Zooey! But it's true, they'd probably hold your degree hostage if they found out you hadn't read it! I love all your book reviews so please do some as you go! PS kind of a strange request, but would you ever post past courses' required reading lists?

  • I love your awesome personality. You aren't like normal beauty gurus all like reading magazines.

  • Amazing Haul! I loved Water for Elephants and Extremely Loud. I love book hauls and I need to give some of the books a read.

  • Water for elephants (the movie) was really good :)

  • What a fantastic haul

  • Love JSF- if you end up liking Extremely Loud, give Everything is Illuminated a try. And though I've never read it, people have told me Waiting to Exhale will make you inexplicably mad at any male near you. But that's just what I've heard.

  • I've still not eaten them and it's been about ten years.I need to eat them!

I have also been meaning to read about the French Revolution forever.

And er yes, seeing as I am trying to text you and it's not working, just to say, phone call before you head off on your adventures?I will actually text you tomorrow again when I go out for my haircut. I have to resist the urge to hack hair off again-I looked at a pic of Lily Allen.Enough said.

Now I'll stop spamming your videos with personal comments!

  • feeling really envious of your degree, trip to america, and that you're going to read all those lovely books :)

  • Kath, too many things to write... ok, I was literally just about to tell you that Bill Bryson had written a book about Shakespeare, and then you mentioned it anyway! Lol- read my mind. ON VIDEO. I know exactly what you mean about the rubbery matt niceness... ahhh, so nice.

How have you not read the fricking Catcher in the Rye?!

Argh, I need the Roald Dahl recipe book. I also need to find a recipe I read in one of my flower fairy books on how to make sugared violets.

  • I love your new fringe

  • @PeaceMilly04 thankyou! its growing on me - get it ;)

  • Never Let Me Go is a great film and an even better novel. All of the actors are fab. Love your videos too, obv :)

  • @yayglee haha thanks! I finished it, its awesome!

  • Have you ever read The Virgin Suicides? it's beautiful. Along with The Perks of Being a Wallflower, those two books have been read countless times since I bought them last year.

  • @loveislikemusic argh I ALMOST bought wallflower while I was shopping for these! Its been on my wishlist for ages. It is higher up now though thanks!

  • My lord that's a lot of books.

I am super excited for reading this summer, because I most likely won't have a job. Hehe.

  • i actually enjoyed a clockwork orange more than a catcher in the rye... but to each their own :)

  • @crazycookie66 oo well the only way to know is for me to read both then! done! :D x

  • I love your reaction to the design and cover art even as much as your reaction to what the books are about. :) only you could make a fourteen minute video that is so captivating that it feels short. I can't believe you are only days from America! Even though I will not see you, I will send you happy travel-y wishes. :)

  • Also, Water for Elephants - the film, was incredible so I'm sure the book will be.

  • @Hannindrome I will keep you posted!

  • I really want that 'A little history of the world' because I want a round up of everything too :)

  • aaah shakespeare my life :P i got to go see the new much ado about nothing recently. SO GOOD <3 lol

  • @TheLadybirdsPicnic thats my favourite play! Where did you see it?:)

  • Awesome. You're going to go far.

  • @alexfbarrett Hhaha I know, but go WHERE. that. is the question.

  • You've done some serious damage now.. I went crazy on amazon because of you! :D:D

  • @WidyaAndFriends hahah appologies! its good for you!;)

  • P.S. I have that Pullman book sitting on my shelf, I would love to see a full review when you have finished, ALSO I totally have never read any Bill Bryson, I feel like my life so far has been a mockery of a sham, what with having been a bookseller and now a librarian, and a literature graduate, how have i survived so long without it, you have enlightened me! I shall definitely be picking up mother tongue next time i'm visiting the old work place at the Waterstone's!

  • @MsBennett881 I just finished yesterday, I will probably do a review when I get back from travelling :) Let me know what Bill you pick up !:) x

  • Are you judging those books by their covers...?!

  • @aushnakilops lol, Yes, yes I am. I do it frequently. As an isolated activity, and not a metaphor, I have found it to be very acceptable! ;)

  • Love Bill Bryson - I love mother tongue! I really recommend all of his books, especially "A Walk In the Woods," and I recently bought a short history by him which I'm excited about! Also, The Catcher in the Rye. Love. I just bought about 15 books, and now I have to go buy some more. Every time i watch your videos I have to go buy books. I'm skint.

  • @voteforfran lol, when you run out of money, get thee to the library! NEVER to many books! x

  • I just had to share you with the twitter, I LOVE when people are so enthusiastic about books!! Especially librarians, it makes me all warm and fuzzy :D xo

  • @MsBennett881 haha being a librarian would be AWESOME. watch this space.

  • One of the best videos I've seen in a long time! I've been clearing out my bookshelf today and that combined with this video have really inspired me to read again. I'd got out of the habit these past couple of years because of school/college, but I'm really excited to pick up and read some of these books you've mentioned, especially those by Bill Bryson. :)

  • @TattyThistle hahah excellent! Let me know what you think!

  • I LOVE your book videos! I graduated from my english degree last year and u make me miss it soooo much! I'm on the final chapter of never let me go atm. You've made me want to read bill bryson! I love how much u clearly enjoy books and reading!

  • @TheCplusJ haha yeah I'm dreading leaving my course and not having an excuse to read all day. End of Never Let me Go, what did you think?x

  • I haven't read the book but Water for elephants is such an amazing film!

I love your passion for books! x

  • @ShopUntilYouDrop90 well then I cant wait :) thanks!

  • I made a sandwich.

  • @jp3d2k Good planning Commerade

  • yeah!!! i was waiting for this video!!! awesome :D

  • water for elephants the film is very good! :D xxxxx

  • @1rhistar1 ooo I cant wait then!

  • i used to love reading, but now i cant find a book which can hold my attention and make me want to read more and more until i finish it. Could you recommend a book which you think i might enjoy and really get into?

i love all of your videos always look for yours on my main page. :)

  • @meganrose87x if its your attention span thats the problem maybe you could start with quite wordy graphic novels? 'FunHome' by Alison Bechdel is like the best graphic novel of all time, and it has alot of well written ttext in it to get you back into the swing. As for actual novels, maybe try some short fairytale esuqe stories like A.S.Byatt Elementals, or Roald Dahl's Henry Sugar. Failing that, although they are not great works of literature, some of Stephanie Meyer's stuff ARE page turners -

  • @meganrose87x not just twilight, but The Host. Really good for being on the edge and making you read the next bit. But people have mixed feelings about that. Oooo and The Alex Rider seies - Stormbreaker ect. Hope that helps! Good luck x

  • you're one of my favourite youtubers! you're honestly so honest and down to earth, please keep making videos! :)

  • @hayleylikesbaileys haha you don't need to sorry about that, I certainly will :) x
