  • Let's all cry

  • Hey, what's up everybody... I'm here because all of you guys are Pearl Jam fans, and because, if you can deal with a little bit of 'spam', I'm here to promote my new band Overshadowed. We just got done recording our demo, it's on our channel, and we'd love if anyone could simply check the songs, leave a comment, or anything of the sort. We'd really appreciate it!

FYI, I came HERE because we love and respect Pearl Jam, and are hoping for whatever respect you guys might have leftover...

  • Awesome performance from a simply brilliant band!

  • Will they ever have a better band at leeds/reading fest again? ... doubt it.

  • August 25 2006, Bramham Park was when I got to see my favourite band-Pearl Jam headline Leeds Fest. Not just an ordinary gig, it was like a pilgrimage.

  • argentina's version its much better, just listen to the crowd its incredible

  • I LOVE PEARL JAM!

  • 'Please be good to one another' - To hell with any other religious book, the only the one i follow is Vedder himself- wise words.

  • Hatalmas !!!

  • @ 1:57

singing this must of gave him the chills

  • I was at this gig. almost 100,000 people at the Reading Festival and it was truly awesome... love PJ, xxx

  • Was there.......Amazing, the best live band i have seen by far,and by good fortune seen them 3 times, wish it was more though, eddie vedder is an inspiration

  • I was there! It was amazing!!!

  • nobodys fault but mine! one of my 2 favorite bands playing the other bands riff!

  • my dream came true saw PJ '09 Austin City Limits..and i want a rewind so BAD..my heart wanted to come out of my chest..LOVE LOVE PJ!!

  • Brings back fantastic memories of a brilliant night !!

  • my life will not be worth living unless i get to see pearl jam play this song live....

  • nobody's fault but mine :)

  • wow, they're aging gracefully

  • I play guitar, and this is my absolute favorite thing to play. I never get sick of it.

  • The Montana sticker on Jeffs Bass is cool, i lvie in Wyoming so thats pretty awesome

  • I FUCKING LOVE MIKE MCREADY. Absolute Master!

  • let that guitar melt into your mind..

  • addicted to there music... its not even funny

  • I was at this gig and a sometimes watch this video and others from the festival so thought I'd leave a comment. Fucking excellent gig, fucking excellent band, absolutely brilliant!!

  • love them, love Eddie! they are GREAT! <3

  • the craziest song ever!

    PEARL JAM 4EVER!!!

  • WOW something I didnt realize until the thousandth time of watching this is that Mcready starts filming the crowd and the band at the end. definitely taking the experience and memories in.

  • Yeahhhhhh

  • Eddie is to me a direct descendent of guys like BB King, Robert Johnson, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, and even ladies like Tina Turner, Aretha Frankln, Janis Joplin etc. And I meant that in that when he sings, he pours 100% of his soul into what he's singing, so much that no matter what it is, he connects with the listener in such a profoundly human way that you can't help but marvel at the beauty the world still has to offer through music.

  • Anybody know what year Strat Mcready plays? I see him with that one all the time. It looks like a 70's or older.

  • @justfine77777 It's an original 59..... 59's his favourite number

  • @mrShowaddywaddy cool dude.... I can't afford a 59......:(

  • @justfine77777 well, you can always buy a reissue with relic paint... theyre about 2-3 grand but not like 20 GRAND!!!! and they sound about the same...

  • I would give my life to have been at this amazing concert! Thanks for your blessings Eddie

  • We love you Pearl Jam!

  • i was there......lost all that remained of the plot when this came on! ha ha Pearl Jam are just.....WOW!

  • pure excellence!!!! such a great song..

  • Please, anyone tell me what is the tune he starts playing @4:16 ??

  • Led Zeppelin "Nobody's Fault But Mine"

  • aah... is Uncle Eddie a bit cold at 1.57. Bless

  • I want that ratty ass Strat he is playing! That is a sweet geetar!

  • I love how they really seem to appreciate their fans, it's awesome!!! Mike has real passion playing too, it's great to still see that in guitarists.

  • This song rocks even though the music is sort of cannibalized it works because it honors the original artists and Eddie has so much soul .

  • 5:05 I absolutely love how Jeff Ament and Eddie Vedder sit there as Mike plays and just sort of share that moment, staring out at the crowd. It really reminds me of the good things in life.

  • i couldnt agree more, absoultely the greatest feeling probably to see all that theyve done

  • Seeing Pearl Jam is definitley something I have to do before I die. They are absolute legends! I'm going to see Alice In Chains in a few weeks who I also love, but I think I would trade those tickets for Pearl Jam anyday!

  • Alice without Layne... I'd definately agree with you. You know what man, I love this music. Cheers to good concerts in the future!

  • lol. Cheers!

To be fair though, I think Duvall is still pretty good in Alice but you're right. Alice without Layne just won't be as good :(

  • can you imagine Pearl Jam without Ed ? haha

  • you already missed, seeing REAL alice in chains... i missed them too... without layne staley they its not the real band... his voice was maybe a little bit scratchy, but very unique!!!!

but pj live was my best concert so far...2006 in vienna!!!

  • @innschbrucka

Caught AIC in 91 with Staley in KC, loved Man in The Box and smoked a ton of turkish hashish at that show, one of the best i've ever been to.

About that Time PJ erupted, maybe 92. Also fortunate enough to have seen them last October '09 in Austin TX, I've dreampt of seeing them live. all these years, two great bands..I am fortunate. and honestly, PJ still keeps getting better, take care of eachother out there.

  • @0hoodster0 I hear ya broheem...but if it was still Layne...the thought of a trade for ANY band wouldnt even enter my mind for a second....know what I mean??

  • @theenigmajjames Yeah I get you and I think I'd have to agree with you too

  • @0hoodster0 alice in chains and pearl jam in the same fucking day in PORTUGAL!!!!! 10/07/2010

  • @0hoodster0 yeah man... do it.

  • @0hoodster0 if this was a choice like 14 years ago i'd go with the aic tickets. but i 100% agree with about know.

  • @0hoodster0 Ive seen pearl jam loads of times mate and ye you would trade Alice in chains tickets for Pearl jam!!!!

  • @0hoodster0 Well said PHIL!

  • @Chevtherev My name's not Phil?

  • @0hoodster0 oh yeah, it's 'fairy' isn't it?!

  • @0hoodster0 I second that!

  • i was at this gig and this left me almost in tears! However, i do love the version on live at the garden. Plus, the riff was written as a semi tribute to Hendrix, hence the similarity to little wing and the ease that mccready occasionally slips into it durin his second solo

  • Wasn't that Nobody's Fault But Mine by Zeppelin though?

  • yes

  • anyone know where i could find this mp3?

  • It's on the Lost Dogs album.

  • thanks bro

  • This vid really shows that Eddie and the band never got wrapped up in themselves. Some bands get to the big time and they are "we're so awesome! we love ourselves! Buy our stuff!" - I love when Eddie grabs the binoculars and looks out into the crowd - making a connection with them and waving. Its really powerful. The man knows whats important. People, memories, experiences... not materialistic possessions. You can just tell hes taking in the experience, because once its gone, its gone.

  • nicely sad:)

  • Terrible tom, thats why I love Pearl Jam, they have been around for over 2 decades, still writing great songs, still performing brilliantl live, and the thing is... they know they are fucking good, good live band with brilliant songs, they know they are so far better than the stadium rock norm of U2 etc!! Pearl Jam are simply brilliant!!! They dont need to get wrapped up in any rock bullshit!!! To be quite honest who needs more than Led Zeppelin and Pearl Jam? OK bit of Simon & Garfunkels good!!

  • @TerribleT0M very poetic man. couldn't have said it better myself

  • @TerribleT0M A quality comment my friend...spot on

  • @TerribleT0M Simply put, this is just more than music to these guys. Its more than just music to us fans too. Its that simple. Some people just don't or can't understand that.

  • @TerribleT0M You are absolutely awsome. You have it figured out =)

  • I think this version, from the Reading Festival, is the best version I've heard of this song, so far... this is how good music should sound like.

  • TRue!

  • My brother, he's fought in a war

and he's not coming back again

On the wayside, I got to listen to the president, what he said

My brother, he's coming home in a box or a bag ...

Does anybody still have to wonder what this song is about? Pretty obvious now, don't you think?

  • 1; every (live) version has different lyrics

2; even he does not know the actual lyrics, theyre lost

  • I always found the intro riff similar to little wing by jimi but a good song nonetheless

  • Potato waaaaave!

  • you wouldn't say that if you were there...

  • oh man... how i miss the early 90's

  • I was not even alive when pearl jam was big and I still recognize their awesomeness! ROCK ON PEARL JAM!!!

  • i know mike mccready has a tubescreamer and a phaser,

    Guitar -> Tubescreamer -> Phaser -> Amp

    or

    Guitar -> Phaser -> Tubescreamer -> Amp

    Help Plx ;d

  • I'd say tubescreamer before the phaser so the phaser signal doesn't get distorted.

  • wiat you mean amp--tubescreamer--phaser--guitar right?

because otherwise your phaser would get distorted.

  • No, if you run the tubescreamer after the phaser and guitar then the phaser signal will get distorted.

  • oh, i had my facts wrong then. thanks.

  • i've found it, The phaser goes thru the tubescreamer;

    guitargeek(dot)com/rigview/256/

  • i would say phaser then tubescreamer

  • It sounds like he's using a univibe, not a phaser. That's just my opinion though.

  • its: guitar -> tubescreamer -> phaser -> amp

  • 2:32-2:34 yes bow down minions soon you will all be mine bwa ha ha

  • seen them plenty of times everytime he changes the lyrics awesome Pearl Jam on cohnan obrien june 1st

  • no eddie vedder rocks my world

  • Mike McCready rocks my fucking world.

  • people/singers changed by the age.. but pearl jam still rocks..

  • EDDIE VEDDER BEST SINGER, MIKE McCREADY & STONE GOSSARD BEST GUITARISTS! I LOVE PEARL JAM ALWAYS!

  • lol at the zeppelin lick. gotta love mike.

  • i know how much reading meant to the guys

i was there when ed was in tears at the end

it was the best in the uk since finsbury park

    xx

  • Hope this isn 't a stupid question,

but what's the connection between Pearl Jam and Reading Festival?

  • Next to Leeds a few days before it was the first festival they'd played since one a few years back where people got crushed to death, so they were really anxious.

Also they'd never played the festival before.

  • He sounds fucking awesome, man.. No one sings like Vedder, past or present..

  • He sounds borderline decent. He doesn't have the same power in his voice as he did in the early 90's.

  • dont judge his voice soley on this performance.

i do know what you mean though, his voice isnt the same as in 92 or something....but do you really expect it to be?

  • Yeh Badfish and Cobhammer, he may not have the anger in his voice that he had then, but the point ur missing is that he doesn;t need the power anymore. The music's changed, he has more soul to it now, which I personally think makes him a better singer.

  • LOVE THIS GUYS

  • Mike McCready !!!! FUCKING AWSOME XD

  • it's great song! Great band! Excuse me for my bad English (I'm from Bulgaria ), I have no words to explane how this song change my life! But please, don't curse on hip-hop music. Don't forget that Pearl Jam also have songs with rap bands like cypress hill - Real thing from OST Judgment night - and this is great song too. With peace and respect! And long live Pearl Jam!

  • amazing song, its a shame others from the same generation as me don't see it as something beautiful.

  • i forgot to add, THANK YOU to the poster of this video, it really is appreciated!

  • yeah thats just stunningly beautiful to be honest! pearl jam are living legends... they've stayed true to themselves and 18 years on they are still churning out quality and put on incredible live shows! i cant wait til the day i see them again... here's hoping itl be soon!

  • amen to that man...they play what they believe and feel they are a real class act, they play every show like it's their last...god bless pearl jam. bringing you moments like this since 1990

  • wow this is an amazingly clear recording, u usually cant get something this good on pearl jam songs. and thankfully this is my favorite song by them, i believe metal and rock will have it's time in the spot light again, and kick this shallow stupid ass pointless rap to the toilet. long live pearl jam.

p.s thank you for posting this, it's the clearist version ive seen, it really is a great song.

    5/5!

  • What scale is mike using

  • I believe that he plays in an E major pentatonic

  • confirmed

  • lmao r u serious?

  • nearly every guitarist improvises solos live dumb ass

  • well said.

because it's just so very true

i do it live to, there's nothing wrong with it at all.

personally i think it give's a little something to the audiance that they didn't expect. and i get to express myself and it keeps the show alive, and simply put it keeps me happy lol.

  • when r they gonna tour again? anyone know? theyre awesome live

  • I thought they ended this gig with Alive and Eddie very emotional and thanking everyone?

  • lol i love how jeff nd eddie r just chillin at the end ahhhahaha

  • it dont sound right when he pronounces the words correctly.

  • crazy seeing matt cameron on stage again...too bad not with soundgarden, these guys look like the put on a great show though.

  • I think he meant contendedness? is that a word? lolz

  • They really are a class act. Play every show like it's their last.

    CMAx

  • well put

  • temaso hueon

  • It was Nobody's Fault But Mine... not Achilles Last Stand.

  • :D That part of Zeppelin is fucking funny :D

  • ...that was a nice touch at the end to play a bit of Achilles Last Stand by Led Zeppelin!! Quality !!

  • Five stars

  • haha mccready trips at the very end

  • This was one of the greatest moments in my life.I asked a random girl next to me if she would care to dance during this song. We embraced each other and just slow danced, Christ she was beuatiful. The song slowly ended, I hugged her and shook her hand. We thanked each other, said our parting ways.I walked off into the darkness with a feeling of contemptness and hope in the decent folk of society.I did'nt even ask what her name was. I dont wana no either! I whish mikes solo could of lasted forever

  • how sweet... thanks for sharing... pearl jam has a way of spreading the love!! BEAUTIFUL!

  • man, that's something..

  • nice. very nice

  • man thats great.

  • luck you!!!

  • see...it's moments like this that make it all worth while. everything we put up with in our daily life and all the shit that is out there this fake ass rap stuff and all that...it can all be made better by something as beautiful and true as a dance like that, it just makes u forget all those things and sets you free, im glad u got to experiance that. you are one of the lucky people who go tto experiance the power of pearl jam live...it's all made worth while by these little moments like this.

  • Probably the best comment I have read on You Tube. Nice to know we don't all hate each other and our opinions :)

  • notice how the lyrics are different in every live version of this side. nonetheless, pearl jam is the most kick ass band ever and eddie vedder is my idol. great song!

  • Does anybody else see the similarities between these and little wing? Still both really good songs

  • ahahahah yeah of coursee. there are interviews that u can read that explain all that to u! lol

  • lots of songs are played in this style i.e. under the bridge. btw this is the funnest way for me to play guitar.

  • I agree. I wish I was better at it. How did you get good at this style.

  • All i must say is that THIS VIDEO JUST PROVES HOW GODLY AMAZING PEARL JAM IS!!!!!!! Yellow Ledbetter is my favorite Pearl Jam song and Pearl JAM IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE my favorite band of all time!!!!!! And as a vocalist myself, i proudly admit that Eddie Vedder IS AND ALWAYS will be my vocalist idol/HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!! VIVA PEARL JAM!!!!!! (all this coming from a 16 year old)

  • I am 17 :) not much people of our age ( i think) listen to pearl jam or know much of it. I know quiet a lot of it. And Pearl jam IS Pearl jam. Nobody can cover it. They have that one special thing that not much people have. Neil young has a bit the same and Nirvana to. All grunch (well Neil young before it.) Pearl jam is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!!!!!!.

I play guitar and i want to write songs like Pearl jam :)

    grtz wim

  • ahahah i believe u mean grunge....and i personally believe that there are millions upon millions of people around our age who listen to Pearl Jam, they just dont admit it! Oh yeah, and they are coverable! lol...my band and i are gonna start working on our own version of Yellow Ledbetter! lol (not to ruin it of course)......i dont know how long it will take, but i personally will make sure that we can make Eddie proud!

  • Sorry is grunge i know :p mistyped xd.

It could be that you're correct about the people of our age. But i am admit it :p Pearl jam just rocks. Well if you practice long enough on Yellow Ledbetter you will make something nice i think. But it never will have the same feeling like PJ plays it.

But maybe thats good because pj = pj.

Good luck on the song :)

  • hahaha yeah. agreed. im guessing we'll work on it for about 4 or so months so as to create some serious amazingness! lol....and u'd be suprised. while yes, it of course will never have the same feeling as pj because as u mention pj does = pj, the feeling will be quite similar as my voice, while not the same as Eddie's tends to be very grungey.....so i guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. :)

  • Well can you add me as a friend? :p

you can show me then how you did :)

I hope you make something very good!(not much people or almost nobody has brought a good one i think)

    greetz

  • hahaha yeah. definitely! lol

  • Added :)

i can play the intro of it now :) :) so happy xD

  • Haha How do you just jump into nobody's fault but mine in the middle of the solo? Amazing band...wow
