social justice will cripple the american way of life. It is understood to mean (becasue no one will clearly define it) that everyone is entitled to the same standard of living as everyone else. As in, where is the justice of our social or economic system that some people live really well, and some live near poverty, even though they both wrok really hard.

Social Justice is the idea that you should give one section of society more benefit and preferential treatment than another based on perceived wrongs that occured in the past, and make it into law for all time. It is all about what one side says versus another. Social Justice is based on emotion and perception, not logic and wisdom.

"Equality of opportunity" is impossible without making sure everyone has access to a basic minimum of resources (like free education, healthcare, etc.).
For a society to be truly based on merit and hard work alone, you need to remove the vast inequalities created by chance.

i think social justice would be individuals affirming social morality from that platform.
that is, not merely observing that the market provides, but moving your corner of the market to provide for people who need it.
for instance, my company asked us to take a pay cut. they cut the management pay first and deepest. the result is that no one was laid off and everyone kept their health coverage.
