Yeah, these treble boosters are no joke. I've had an Analog Man Beano Boost (NKT275 tranny) for a good 3 years, but I didn't get around to trying it onstage until about a week ago. Holy crap! I assumed it wouldn't work well with my Fender Hot Rod Dlx, but boy, was I wrong. My only issue is this: When you have the Beano's gain turned up to 2:00 or higher, it's too-big of a volume-boost if you're using the amp's clean-tone as your clean-rhythm sound and planning on using the Beano for leads only.
Many, many great players used Dallas treble boosters back in the day and even guy's that used Fuzz Faces where mainly using them as boosts as well, with the fuzz all the way down and the level the whole way up. The Dallas cuts through way better then any Fuzz Face though, and this MJM version is killer! Can do 60's and 70's without changing pedal's.
i have the beano boost and it is absolutely incredible. i always wished mine had more gain so I'm thinking about picking up one of these baby's... rangemaster's are totally tubescreamer killers in my opinion
Agreed treble boosters bridge the gap between a fuzz face and a tube screamer. They can cover alot ground and in my opinion sound 10x better than a tube screamer.
I'm wondering the same myself, though I have replaced several Analog Man pedals with MJM's pedals...(Sunfaces for the Foxy and London Fuzz.) They just sound better to my ears. :)
Kickass old school tones, I'm loving it. I've never owned a treble booster but they sound great. I love MJM's new facelift they've done on their pedals.
Wonder how this would sound stacked with a Germanium London Fuzz

I'd like to hear this with a Vox AC30, such an awsome tone Andy gets out of it on the Deluxe Reverb!
But i hear the AC30 likes to eat Treble boosters for breakfast, and shit out mind melting tone

@jaybals I second that !

bought this yesterday. i love the sound of this boost even though it gives you more of an overdriven sound than a boost.still rules.
also bought the seymour duncan tremolo yesterday and the catalinbread heliotrope. inpulse buy like crazy.

Is this like or in the same group as a Colorsound Power Boost......
Also is the Phantom Overdrive the same? Not sure which one to get Boost or Phantom
shineonprickley1975 2 years ago
is there a big difference between this and a mxr micro amp?
ASTROAVERY 2 years ago
huge. this is a treble boost. the micro amp is just a signal boost. this one cleans up any muddy tones and adds gain as well

does the spike add treble or brightness/presence?
purenectar 3 years ago
No what it does is that it only boosts in the bright register.

This is exactly what I like in a gain stage pedal. Simplicity.
Looks pretty swank too. =)
