  • @kingmitdemding123 Actually it's the little passage from "More Than A Feeling" by Boston! Only played differently.

  • Smart harmony can be used without the pedal right ??

  • @3010smejo yes.

  • @line6movies and the loop ??? Can be used without pedal ???

  • @3010smejo yes by pressing the Quick Loop button on the amp. However, you'll nave a lot more control if you trigger the looper from an FBV pedal.

  • @line6movies I ordered the 75 Watt one ... Its amazing !!! However, the smart harmony is on songs like Black sheep pretty stupid -.- ... But I played both parts with loop and it sounds very good !!!

  • @kingmitdemding123 Hi, it is just improvised. Thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • is this the same as the smart harmony on the M9?

  • @NHBluesMan no they are two different effects. Pitch Glide allows you to sweep the pitch of the signal with the expression pedal by several octaves up and down. Smart Harmony layers tones to create guitar harmonies just like if you were harmonizing vocals.

  • How to use the FBV shortboard for using whammy like the Tom Morello solo ?

  • @Guitarpocalypse you have to set the pedal on your amp to "tweak" that effect. Check out the advanced guide for information on how to do that specifically on our website under "Product Manuals".

  • So the Pitch like feature is exactly like a Whammy Pedal???

  • @ExLxExMxExNxT Yes. The Pitch Bender will work like the Whammy.

  • @ExLxExMxExNxT No... the Pitch Glide is even better than a whammy Pedal!!!

  • Was that Schism at the end? :D AWESOME

  • Can you turn the effects on and off with out the padal board, if not can you tell me the name of the pedal board you use so i can get one thanks

  • @VinnyBenson You can turn the effects on and off on the amp by turning the FX knob clockwise and then counter clockwise all of the way down. To do this on the floor you need either an FBV Express MkII pedal or an FBV Shortboard MkII pedal. You can find out more about these pedals at the Line6 website.

  • 3:02 - slayer's raining blood, awesome

  • Can you use this to get a lower pitch for like getting a sound in drop A while playing on a guitar with drop C?

  • @Gishki The pitch glide will go two octaves up and two octaves down. I think what you may want to look into is something like a James Tyler Variax guitar which has alternate tunings that would do this.

  • is the pedal he using in the price?

  • @sotosxboxakias Hi, The FBV Shortboard MkII and FBV Express MkII are sold separately.

  • wow..Nowi know why they call this smart Harmony!!! Great video by Andy from line 6, but i think what he forgot saying, is that once you choose your key, scale, and the +/- interval, set the MIX parameter at 100% and now play it...

you'll see how fine this feature sounds, and those notes that can not be harmonized, kinda automatically be left out even if you picked it..the more i get to know these amps, the more i appreciate what they are capable of ..

  • can this emulate harmonic scales?

  • Is for this amps (Spider IV) 75 and up?

  • @Rock52Drummer Yes. Only for the 75 watt and up models.

  • i was wundering..do you need a shortborad or can you just have an fbv express

  • @TheKirkHammett1 An FBV Express will work as well.

  • @line6movies how do u get it to turn on on the express?

  • @22ndfretfreak92 Do you mean how do you switch from volume to wah? If the pedal is new you may need to push down pretty hard on the pedal to activate the little switch inside the unit.

  • @line6movies No what i was trying to mean was how to turn the pitch glide on.I figured it out a week after watching this video, you just select Wah(or Vol.) =control in the edit bank of the pitch glide.

  • @22ndfretfreak92 ahh got it. Sorry for the confusion.

  • lol andy walls

  • lalakiller54,

you only need the pedal, if you want to use the wah, and/or to shift between tone with different intervals while playing.

But, you can use the smart Harmony and pitch glide feature without pedal too. all you have to so is:

    1) Turn on the effect using the FX1 numb

    2) Press the preset button

    3) Select mode (Firmware 2.0 offers Pitch Glide, Smart Harmony, and 2 Band EQ)

    4) set you parameter

    5) once you like a sound, save it in one of the 4 channels

  • do you HAVE to have a pedal board to use the smart harmony?

  • @lalakiller54 You can use the Smart Harmony effect without the pedal but having the pedal will give you more control over the effect.

  • to V100BB, you're wrong bro....you just need to figure out how to use it. I had issues with it too, and guys at Line 6 helped me through it. I guarantee you, this pitch glide is awesome and sounds as good as any out there....

  • thanks line6movies, Nick from Line 6 community support, perfectly resolved my matter. you guys rock

  • do you have to have the pedal to do the smart harmony?

  • Hi line6movies, you said in your response that: You have to set the Minimum value for your expression pedal to 0% and the Max value to +12.

how do you suggest i do that? I am assuming that you are not talking about Calibration of my FBV board (0 to 127) so, are you talking about setting Heel position at 0 and Toe at 12+?? cause i have tried it all...still not getting an octave. It's alwasy more like a bit wah. so..what about POS and MIX levels then? thanks again for your help

  • @rahk0505 I think this would be best to move over to the Line 6 Forums where you can get some back and forth help. If you go to the Line 6 website and then go to /communuty/community/support - Scroll down to ask a question and post there, you will be able to get help. Thanks!

  • Does anyone know if the SPIDER IV's pitch glide is capable of producing the sound used for the Guitar solo in "Marooned" by Pink Floyd (Division Bell). I need to know how to get that sweet octave up pitch...Setting anyone, pls???

I am using a Spider IV 75 and FBV short board MKII. I have played with the setting in every possible way i could and can not get an octave, why?? the sounds pretty much is just more like a wah.

thanks in advance for any help....

  • @rahk0505 In response to your question about "All i want is the normal pitch with the pedal at the heel position, and then be able to produce 1 or 2 octave above, when pedal is at toe position." - You have to set the Minimum value for your expression pedal to 0% and the Max value to +12. Try those settings and see if they help.

  • I have this amp, and While it's not terrible, I wouldn't reccomend buying it.

I use the harmonizer on here, and it sounds different, everytime. Pretty unreliable.

Just teach a friends to harmonize with ya, works 10x better

  • @NickGiovanniMusic The Smart Harmony shouldn't sound different every time unless you change some of the parameters on the effect and don't save your changes. If you need some help with this, please reach out to Line 6 Support, they would be happy to help out. Thanks!

  • That pitch glide is an insult to Digitech.

  • iron maiden, slayer, then the white stripes....

  • hi, i have a line 6 spider IV 150w

and in the back it has to outputs for speakers

now my question is, can i use it like a head??

does it sounds like the spider IV 150hd??

what kind of speakers can i use??

  • @pakoguitarman You can connect any 8 ohm mono cabinet to either speaker output. This will mute the internal speakers on the Spider.

  • oh my god... TOOL!!! HELL YES!!!

  • YEAH! ACES HIGH!

  • lol. was that a variation off raining blood?

  • @slipknotfan141 Bahahah, it definitely was. I laughed when I saw him playing it.

  • @EvilHippy38 me too :P

  • I WANT 3 PITCHES! and it to figure out what key I'm playing it in

  • no defiently does not come with it. Infact it's an additional 200 bux. But i must say if your using a line 6 product it does control almost everything with in the amp. it's defeintly worth the money. only thing that sux is it's really hard to engage the wah.

  • Hey, i have the line 6 spider III 150 but i wanna turn it in for some minor repair (the guitar jack game out) will i get it back or will i have to pay an extra 100 for the IV?

  • @Charbok12 Hi, you should visit Line 6 Support on the Line 6 website to get help with this. Thanks!

  • is that the footswitch that comes with it or does that come seperate?

  • @herokight The footswitch comes separately. There is the FBV Express MkII and the FBV Shortboard MkII.

  • still sounds like a spider, sucks

  • at 2:44 he is doing the little riff from more than a feeling! but the last chord is wrong but big deal

  • This guy reminds me of the bad ass from No Country For Old Men

  • Were you playing satch?

  • Why did you leave all the neat features out of the 30w model. It makes me sad cause I live in an apartment and am poor so the 75w is out of my range in every situation at the moment.

  • what footswitch is better..

Line 6 FBV Shortboard MKII Guitar Footswitch or Line 6 Floor POD Plus Guitar Multi Effects Pedal

  • SCHISM!!!!!!! ZOMG!

  • 2:44 More Than a Feeling by Boston. Perfect effect tone.

  • how do i turn my fbv express pedal to change the pitch? it onlys wahs for me

  • You can access this on the amp by pressing down on the presets button and then using the 4 way switch to scroll to FX 1, turn the presets knob to select Pitch Glide, and then scroll down on the 4 way button until you see options for FBV Control.

  • can anyone tell me whats better..

line 6 spider IV 120 watts or the spider IV HD150

  • the hd150 is for gigging and big shows because it is only a amp "HEAD" and it attaches to a much larger cab for serious wattage. the 120 is a combo amp all you need is a wall to plug it in to (and a guitar of course) but the maximum volume wont be any where near the hd150... hope that helped

  • you could EASILY use the Combo version for any size gig. It has outputs to connect an extension cab. you can also run it direct to the PA.

  • @Kessa6809

for the HD ull beed a cab as well. Go with the combo.

  • Can you have a harmony effect an octave down? Because some stuff requires that... and just more simpler to use that than a quick loop.

  • Yes.

  • That little bit of Schism at the end was awesome!

  • @insideout666 yeah and he did raining blood to

  • How do I activate the smart harmony without a pedal?

  • You really can't. You can turn it on but without a pedal you won't be able to glide between pitches.

  • can you use the pitch glide to make your guitar sound de-tuned?

  • Yes.

  • is the 15 watt version the same as this? and how many amp models is there on the 15? cheers

  • Visit the line 6 site /spideriv and there is a compare all page that will show you everything. 15 has 4 amp models.

  • how exactly do I get it to the pitch glide setting?

  • Press the presets button, use the 4 way switch to navigate to FX 1 and then turn the presets knob until you see that effect.

  • i just got my frist line 6 and its a spider IV 75watt. as of now i'm selling the 100watt head and boss pedals because this sucker does it ALL AND its SO SMALL!

  • what head

  • aha niice the last two songs he played parts from were atreyu and tool played a bit diff lol

  • Dude (the guitarist) ur a maiden fan :d aces high there :DDD that's awsome to see ppl like you. And if I'm not mistaken ur using adrian's jackson signature ? :D

  • to make the pitch effect i have to buy a line 6 pedal?

or i can do it with any wah pedal?

  • no the pitch effect is already no the amp the pedal is just a easy way of controling the amp while playing :P

  • Just got the 150 combo yesterday. Man there is alot of stuff to read up on and watch. In between blotting up the blood from my ears of course. I never heard anything louder in my life!

  • What is the Quick Loop?

  • If you look under the video listing, there is a video titled Spider IV Quick Loop, that should help you out.

  • lol pretty much all of it im jst not good at doin stuff like this

  • schism :)

  • this is really confusin

  • Hi Matt,

Let us know which parts are confusing and we can work on making some videos that help in this area. Thanks!

  • does this work with the express pedal?

  • The Spider IV works with the FBV Express MkII.

  • how do you access the smart harmony? I can't figure out where it is.

  • Turn your effects 1 knob to Pitch Glider and then turn the Presets knob one click to the right.

  • thanks.

  • Aces High :]

  • somebody knows if the Line 6 POD x3 Live has these features, or at lease the pitch glide one?

  • The X3 Live does not have Smart Harmony or Pitch Glide.

  • what was that riff at like around 230? its awesome

  • Aces High - Iron Maiden, and it is very awesome :)

  • anyone know the last song he played

  • "Schism" bass bridge part.

    the band is Tool

  • shiiiit this thing shits all over the spider III. i gotta sell my spider III for one of these bad boys

  • what kind of guitar does this guy have

  • This guitar is a Jackson "Adrian Smith" signature series, with the original black pickguard replaced with a white pickguard, so the strings are easier to see during demos.

  • Dang. I would return my Spider III for that Spider IV. That thing is SICK.

  • Me too!

  • Me three!

  • I Must say that i was not statisfied with the sound of my spider III 15, i think it was pretty good for metal, but the clean channel sounded very "digital" and the crunch channel couldn't give me the right warm tone to play blues or Hard Rock. So if you're looking for an amp that can produce a warm sound and sustain, i would go for the vox vt series, for metal the Line 6 series are an okay choice, though you may want to look in to the Roland Cube Series.

  • I had the same situation with the same amp. I have found a solution for getting proper clean channel for my fingerstyle practise, just try crunch channel with gain all way back. works fine on my alnico 5 pickups in a les paul

  • Can u do the harmonizer thing without the shortboard

  • You can adjust the Smart Harmony parameters by hand on the amp but you need the pedal to sweep the Smart Harmony in a live situation.

  • all spiders suck unless they make a tube version.

  • There's the spider valve which has pre and power amp tubes. Normal Spiders sound perfectly fine.

  • wrong tubes aren't everything. i have 4 tube amps and just got my spider 4 and i love it. of course the tube amp has a better presence and fuller tone but when mic-ed both amps react and sound the same. this amp isn't really made for the hardcore guitar player that has gigs every night but for guitarists playing for their schools and maybe getting some small gigs this amp is perfect.

  • thats why i got the valve

  • ur voice doesnt suit ur face XD

  • this effects are compatibly with the x3 pod live??????????????? please somebody can answer me,,,,,,,,P.D. sorry for my bad english, i speak spanish

  • Not compatible, the effects are built in the amp, not the pedal.

The Pod X3 live already has the pitch bender.

  • somebody knows which song belongs that riff 3:06 sounds very familiar

  • Sounds like Raining Blood from Slayer ...

  • yep for sure

  • sounds like a slayer lick

  • raining blood, remixed =) all line 6 sounds on their website are popular songs, a little remixed, because of the rights, I suppose...

  • To me, Turn your 6-string into a 12-string suggested it was polyphonic, but in the video it appears to be a monophonic effect.

On these two effects, this looks more like coming up to par with the Digitech RPs instead of raising the bar.

  • i'm just want to ask if this pedal come together with the amp..!! just someone asnswer me!

  • no pedal is seperate

  • it doesn't come with the amp

  • SPIDER 4??

  • aces high! Oh, you should've done a part with the octave above to show the 12 string-ish emulation.

    But overall, pretty good!

  • I sthere a blasted HARMONIC MINOR to harmnonize with, or any other scales oither than teh NATURAL KEY?

Is it just me, or does every manufacturer these days not know that there are scales otehr than the natural key?

Digitech(with their HARMONIZER Pedal!!), Boss, Line 6...even EVentide in their pitch factor pedal....

Only TC Electronic Nova Sysyem and the Digitech RP series have 'Intelligent' harmonizers that do more than the natural key on the mid and low priced stuff...WTF?

  • You can see, he selects which scale to harmonise with.... look at 0.30. And I'd love to see some strange harmonies - melodic minor, jazz melodic minor (ascending and descending), harmonic major, hungarian, whole tone, half-whole diminished.....

  • Q: What are the specifics of the Smart Harmony effect on the Spider IV (75-150) Series?

A: The Smart Harmony can be placed pre or post amp, and can perform diatonic harmony for any root note (A through G#) from a unison (no change) to a ninth interval (up to seven steps) above or below the root note. The scales included in the Smart Harmony include Major, Natural Minor, Pentatonic Major, Pentatonic Minor, Harmonic Minor, Melodic Minor, Whole tone, and Diminished scale.

  • I dont thing so...its like a beginners amp...beginners start with tlike pentatonic shiz. Maybe if they did intervals..just do a major 7th in a minor scale..and you got harmonic minor.
