Whats funny is there are posting for lessons on you tube for playing these guys music Yea right... and im going to play 3rd base for the yankees next week Holy Shite ! Would love to see live been a long time since i heard them what a breath of fresh air
Aren't pop stars ashamed to make money off their "music"? Most of that drivel only thrives b/c people are so tasteless or elso uneducated about music.
why isn't this as populair as lady gaga, kanye west, beyonce and more of that crap. :) If you look up the definition 'music' in the dictionary there must be a picture of the rosenberg trio and not that other crap. :)
As excellent as this is, it's a shame to think that most people except for true musicians even know this music exists. I remember playing this song in high school guitar class as an ensemble 25 years ago. My guitar teacher was a big fan of Django
In a world of crap culture overflowing, it is wonderful to see and hear true musicians playing their collective butts off. I just bought a Dupont to play this. At my age -- 63 -- fat chance even though I've played since I was eight. But this is a whole other trip.
Great stuff, eternal music! seven stars, not five...
Pretty much this. I'm embarrassed for my generation's musical contributions. We have nothing like this to point at and say we're proud of. Instead, we have impossible amounts of in-and-out pop garbage the industry produces in bulk and hurls towards impressionable adolescents with no personality like shit at a brick wall, in the vain hope that something will stick and maybe even return a profit.
Hi everyone! Thanks A-bo for posting videos. Great quality, virtuoso band.
Some very inspired comments here... It's truly incredible that just about every city in the world has their own "Hot Club" band, drawing in the best players.
There is a new instructional book written by Stan Ayerhoff with charts and analysis of Django's playing. Playing the chords can be tough, remember he used basically two fingers, and the pinky finger only on the first few strings.
I always enjoy Django tunes, dude, I listen to his material probably more than just about any other artists', but when some poster begins using faulty logic, I try and correct it for him, that's if he seems like he's possibly able to stand the criticism. That's how people learn. When we learn how to play instruments, if everyone just bowed their heads in amazement, we'd never correct ourselves now would we?
How unfortunate . These guys could have been enjoying the music all this time. I wonder if they even listened to the incredible version of this Django tune. Boys will be boys.
More verbal dhiarrea from a sophist. "Judging from" does not and never did mean (at least in English) that you have to have a logical sequence of mutiple items or happenings to derive a conclusion. It;s used colloquialy often for induction as well as deduction. But then I think you already know this, but for lack of a retort, hair splitting was your best option. Sophist. Go back to law school. Ha, ha. I agree, though, let's stop. Besides I' m sure we both have better things to do.
first of all i'm not guido. in second place i'm sorry, but you didn't explain anything... and beyond all, any phrase beginning with the words "judging from" will always just be a deduction. you continue accusing and therefore just prove you don't have any intelligent thing to say. it might have been better if you just hadn't said anything for not making a fool of yourself. and now please let's stop and leave this space to those who want to comment this video.
Finally, you say, you removed your own posts. What are you hiding? The fact that you jump to conclusions too easily? Is that you Guido? That's got to be you. It's your style. I haven't seen you since Jersey. Where you hiding? Ha, ha!
BTW, that was humor, in case you didn't recognize it. Since I did the same thing you did, infering a wider meaning from one word, in this case your handle ( I prefer the term handle, not username or another simply because computer techies didn't invent the world in case you didn't know). Funny, but true. Ha, ha.
refering to specific subjects or objects I feel sorry for you. Many people do this, usually incorrectly, as in this case. The fact that you did this is not so much the problem as the fact that the conclusion was incorrect. I will give you some inductive reasoning: judging from your handle here, iMeAndMyselfAndMe, I'd have to conclude your one selfcentered mirror loving infantile, so you know what, write whatever you want.
Oh wow, the moron knows how to finish a paragraph with epithets. If you knew anything at all about inductive reasoning I wouldn't have to finish the phrase "deductive reasoning". Considering your last two sentences, I now know why so many of your posts were removed above. Your not only a sophist, but a nasty one at that, ha, ha. For an "Italian" though your English isn't bad.
by removing my posts i just wanted to cancel somehow ideally the fact that i wasted time discussing with a guy who doesn't know anything at all... just consider you haven't come up with one valid argument yet in any of the matters we've been talking about. i asked you to explain WHY - according to you - my inductive reasoning is wrong.
if you're just not able to do it in english, don't hesitate to express yourself in italian or german (unfortunately i don't speak hungarian) if this may help you... of course i'll reply in the same language then. good luck!
Wow, you don't give up easy. You should see if you can join the pro cage fighters, ha, ha. I do know what inductive reasoning is, BTW, but you induced incorrectly, that's all. I suggest deductive is usually more effective. Cheers? Aussie, maybe? Or Brit? Or maybe Bostonian American? Or maybe just a wannabe? How's that for inductive? Ha, ha. Cheers.
ah, well... since you claim to know what inductive reasoning is i beg you to explain why you think i reasoned incorrectly. actually you seem to have no clue at all about it since you've mentioned "deductive" (deductive what?). and no i am actually italian.. i just said cheers for using a polite expression for saying "now, drink your mom's piss". idiot.
Jeez, dude you better begin searching for that English tutor, as noone here ever mentioned quoting dictionaries for "every word" anyone has said. I meant exactly the word I refered to, none other. Don't infer "following meaning" where there is none. Funny, you should speak of logic when you have none.
i'd rather recommend an english tutor to those ignorants who write "noone" instead of "no one" ;) . furthermore, if you seriously want to accuse me of lacking in logic just feel free to do so. but just in case you don't want to get old with the doubt you might just be an ignorant smart aleck, you could read something about "inductive reasoning" and then re-read your post... you might discover you don't actually know what you're saying when you talk. cheers ;)
beethovenbix, of course you're absolutely correct. iMeAndMy.., I suppose must've blown his top, being that he had a bunch of his posts removed. Oh well, he shouldn't have started with the assinine comments in the first place.
come on, calm down... i only said this guy's name is stochelo and not stochello. just for the same reason why i wouldn't want to be taught english or french by someone who spells the word "connaisseur" wrong or logic by someone who says things with the following meaning: "you can't speak any language if you can't prove you haven't previously looked up in a dictionary every word you have said!"

lardinho.., and robmcgreal.., you two are Malmsteen fags. Stochello can play aggressively too, and has on some pieces, he just doesn't choose to everywhere. Simply AMAZING!! I've checked out his other Youtube music and Stochelo is just FANTASTIC!!! Come play Chicago! I would love to hear you in person! Unbelievable!
Best I've heard by far of Django style playing. Improvises just like the man himself. Now only if he could do it with 2 fingers, that would be somethin' else again.
Man, these guys are tight. Stochelo is one of the most tasteful guys in this style, if you ask me. J. Rosenberg is technically impressive, but he tries to cram too many notes in, and sometimes I feel that he's just stringing arpeggios together, but not really making music. I'd like to hear him solo with just eighth notes, just to see how much taste he has.
Stochelo is the wonderboy gone overlord of the manouche swing :) He and Nous'che are playing Eimers guitars, from holland. Stochelo Rosenberg Signature and Nous'che Rosenberg signature (large mouth) for this concert. Otherwise, Stochelo plays mostly his Selmer N°504, the one Clapton was dying for but never got to spend his dollars on in the last place :) Guitar stays in the Rosenberg family.
Beautiful rendition of one of my favorite Django tunes. Missed the clarinet harmony (or fiddle unison, depending on which cut it was). Stochelo is the king of the post-Django era to me -- best combination of passion, speed, power and good taste.
Rosenberg plays Dell Arte guitars often. And made in, of all places - San Diego, CA (Santee, CA) check 'em out: Too bad it's sold. They play beautifully! Check out gypsyjazz dot net
i wasnt sure what guitar he is playing here but he does own the selmer 505. eric clapton wanted to buy it from him but stochelo pulled out of the sale on the day. he bought it from a lady who aproached him after a gig and told that her husband had a guitar like his in the house, (his model at the time was a favino) her husband had died. on seeing that it was a selmer 505 he made an offer but she refused to sell it. after a couple of days she changed her mind and sold it to him
no, he is using an Eimers Stochelo Rosenberg Signature guitar with maple back and sides which is modelled on his Selmer. The guitar was made for him shortly before this concert.
Anyone have a clue as to what scales this dude is using? Please help i have no idea how to make my music into this kind of jazz apart from playing chords in such a way.

Jimmy and Stochelo are THE BEST!

Agreed totally. Stochelo seems to be a touch more creative and interesting to me than the others. They're all absolute marvels to watch though.

Rosenberg plays Dell Arte guitars often. And made in, of all places - San Diego, CA (Santee, CA) check 'em out: Too bad it's sold. They play beautifully! Check out gypsyjazz dot net

i wasnt sure what guitar he is playing here but he does own the selmer 505. eric clapton wanted to buy it from him but stochelo pulled out of the sale on the day. he bought it from a lady who aproached him after a gig and told that her husband had a guitar like his in the house, (his model at the time was a favino) her husband had died. on seeing that it was a selmer 505 he made an offer but she refused to sell it. after a couple of days she changed her mind and sold it to him
nutloaf 4 years ago
the selmer he is using is the guitar made after djangos. the serial on djangos is 504 this is the 505!
nutloaf 4 years ago
no, he is using an Eimers Stochelo Rosenberg Signature guitar with maple back and sides which is modelled on his Selmer. The guitar was made for him shortly before this concert.

Anyone have a clue as to what scales this dude is using? Please help i have no idea how to make my music into this kind of jazz apart from playing chords in such a way.

That was in 2003, a tribute to Django at Samois. I was filming at the same time as the official film was taken.
Love it.

I dont like that guitar. Doesnt sound "rosenberg" to me, and is one of the worst sounding i have seen him play on.
lordkazama86 5 years ago
he's definitely playing a different guitar than usual, but I like it, it sounds weird.
