  • Wow this bitch is horrible she sounds like she's bored as fuck and didn't want to sing this AMY LEE sang this the best .... Omg this shit made me laugh

  • <3 Fiona Apple is the triple D tittays!

Amy Lee should have just stuck to Evanescence..

  • I love her voice don't get me wrong Amy lees voice is beautiful but with this song Fionas voice fits with this song you can hear the sadnees in her voice that's the whole point in this song emotionless sadness and depression

  • I love this song so much! So pretty, lovely!

  • Don't like this version at all..she sounds sleepy, emotionless, and boring..I prefer listening to Amy's version.

  • I love the version in the movie !!!!!:)

  • i like both versions, but fiona's version is so hauntingly beautiful that I prefer it over all others. <3

  • I love this version...the sadness she brings to it is perfect...

  • I love all the versions of this song! Let's just stop arguing over who's best and agree on this one thing: Danny Elfman, who wrote this song, is a genius.

  • Never even knew this existed

  • I love this version so so so so much. <3

  • if you think this is good listen to katethegreats cover... its just beautiful

  • I like all versions:) amys, fionas, and dark sanctuary, and the origonal

  • i love both versions this and amy lee both wounderfully B-A-U-TIFUL VERSIONS :)

  • I like the original, then Amy's, then Fionas.

I just think the song should have the sort of airy, hopeless feeling, other than the heavyish feel I get from this version. Just my opinion.

  • La versión de Amy es mas dulce y mucho mas emotiva y melancolica, adoro a Fiona, pero Amy es... Mucho mejor!!!

  • This is not bad at all, but to me the lyrics seem too fast paced with the music and her voice is a bit too low (and it sounds a little bored, I said little) Now it does show some depressed emotion (like a sense of hopelessness) in there, but not as much as say the original or Amy's. This is just my opinion. =)

  • Fiona's version is better

  • This is good, but i have to say i prefer Amy's. I'm not going to go into why, because ill end up with a bunch of people hating on me XD This is still good though ! I'm glad i listened to it,

  • Not being picking between this version or Amy's , I don't like this version due to the deep voice I like the movie's sweet high pitch because of Sally's innocent good heart shows in it but maybe that's just me

  • Dude I hate Amy's version. Emotion my ass. It sounds so contrived. Fiona Apple serves this song with the perfect monotone creating the perfect atmosphere. And Fiona Apple is VERY emotional. Listen to her other songs!

  • Way better than Amy Lee's ... just saying.

  • this sounds like adele

  • To everyone saying fiona has no emotion, you are fucking insane. It is meant to be depressed, and is how she made it, you dont think the woman can sing? look on here (youtube) Fiona Apple I want you Elvis Costello, then try telling me she has no emotion in her music... yeah you wont.

  • I like this version more but mostly because i think amy lee is a bitch.no offense to fans,i like her music i just dont like her.Plus amy has to strong a voice for this song.she doesnt have the almost broken sound that this song had in the movie.

  • This version just feels...flat. It doesn't feel like it's leading up to anything, like it's just going in a circle.

  • @EvanescereMemoria Are you cazzzzy? Oh my gosh fiona has so much emotion in her's, the song is meant to be sad. . . . .

  • If you don't like this version, then don't listen to it. Simple. :)

  • i fucking love this cover! <3 she as a beautiful voice <3

  • @phillipcairo Fiona = Purely amazing and most talented singer ever.

  • im sorry but i really don't like this that much... Sally's song is not supposed to sound dark, powerful, and all that. I think her voice is to low to sing this, and i think Amy Lee is better, but the original beats all, especially this one. she did good and if there wasn't an original i'd like it but........... there is.

    sorry.

  • @TheInvadingKittens No it is suppose to sound sad and depressed, and fiona is PERFECT

  • @RachLiefde sorry but i don't agree >> i think it has emotion, but the original is way better. i like this, but... the original is better

  • Screw you guys, I like the original better :)

  • Mmm, this version isn't that bad, but I think I prefer the Amy Lee version. I just don't get the same feeling I do from Amy Lee's version.

  • i like this versin better

  • I love all three versions. I don't get what people are fighting over. It's not like they are trying to replace the originals.

  • She sounds like shes singing from her nose this is horriable compared to Amy's or even the orginal for that matter but everybody is different

  • @OhioJuggalette23

You obviously do not know what someone sounds like singing from their nose. Besides that, it's a completely different genre. And no, saying 'she sounds like shit but I guess people have different opinions' because it's still pretty insulting. If you don't like it, that's fine, but don't just outright insult it, please.

  • @NekiiFTW Well hun seeing as I was number one in Butler county,Ohio chosen out of over 100 schools for the city wide honor chorus and served several years in vocal training since I was 3 years of age,Yes I do think I know A thing or two about music and how its supposed to sound and this girl sounds like shes singing from her nose,And also since it is a free country Im aloud to say she dont sound as good as Amy Lee,I said everyone is different,So they can have there opinoin and I have mine :)

  • @OhioJuggalette23

I really can't say I care what qualifications you have, because honestly, she's not singing out of her nose. I really don't care why you opinion matters to who, you shared it with the internet, and it did not care. Also, you aren't 'aloud' to say what you like, you are allowed to. And frankly, I can share my opinion that you need to get a reality check as well, because it works both ways 'hun'. It's not exclusive to you. Lastly, the internet is not a country, derp.

  • @NekiiFTW Ok...I like Amy's version better,I dont think this kind of sound/music/lyrics fit her genre...I happen to love her version of Across the universe,She does have talent but dont like this particular song for her! There is that better lol thats Constructive criticism not a put down,Im done cause this is beyond stupid to argue over what genre of music we like better than the other. If I dont like it,I dont like it im one person not that big of a deal :) Im not going to respond >Continued<

  • @NekiiFTW To anymore posts this is pointless :)

  • @OhioJuggalette23 So I get your like one of those people who live on the computer and pick fights with people over stupid shit...Gotcha and you can take it how ever you want to I really dont give a shit :) She SUCKS in my OPINION at this song it should have been left alone! I have that right...So get over it and I never bashed your opinion you came at me shitty after I spoke mine thats the problem with youtube people cant comment what they think of a bad or song because others wanna fight

  • @OhioJuggalette23 OR you can just leave us alone. We don't want to harm you. Leave us to us. Why the fuck were you here anyway? To start crap yourself? You know some fanbrat will trot along and start bull. Leave us alone.

  • @OhioJuggalette23

    INSULTINSULTINSULTWHINELEAVEMEALONEGOD.

That's what your comment looked like. You basically insulted me for critiquing your distasteful comment. I'm seriously doubting your opinion is worth any kind of credit, judging by your just plain disregard for any proper argument other than that she is singing from her nose, when it's obvious she's not. Honestly? Want me to leave you alone? Why not just stop replying? You keep saying you have an opinion and a right to it, then -c-

  • @OhioJuggalette23

you should know I have a right to saying mine about you. You were insulting and I replied, but you say that's petty? Wow. Maybe you can have your opinion and maybe you can say it sucks; fine, just don't expect me not to say something back. We have the freedom of speech not to insult other, ma'am, we have it to stop such injustice. Yes, you pretty much did bash my opinion right there, and please stop being a drama whore. You want to stop a fight? Stop commenting. I don't care.

  • @NekiiFTW Its just like I love Amy's voice but she did a cover on Heart Shaped Box by Nirvana I think she ruined it,The orginal was way better some songs people are ment to sing some are just ment to be left alone

  • @NekiiFTW Don't bother. He is an official douche.

  • I think both of the versions are fantastic! I just do this one so I can actually sing it without having to go into an octive. Can't match Amy with a boys voice. :P

  • I like Amy lees version better, sally is suppose to have a sweet soft voice and when Amy sings she has a more higher pitch tone to it, her voice is just too deep.

  • I love fiona's version. Amy's version is also good, the difference is that the two sing in different manners and about different things as well. this is more reflective of fiona's style and I like it. it's dark and sad, but subtle all the same. and it gives me the chills. <3

  • Fiona's voice just isn't delicate enough for this piece. I like her other songs, but this just doesn't blend well. I love Amy and Fiona, but I don't think of their voices suits this song. Catherine O'Hara just has the best compatibility. That's why she was picked.

  • I like the Amy lee version the best personally

  • IDK.. my favorite version is still the original by Catherine O'Hara. She was picked because her voice was so delicate....

  • I love you amy lee you are my favorit singer. I sang your song at the talent show .just to let you know l am a kid.nine in fact.

  • She is PERFECT for this song...

  • I really like her voice.

it's like she's so sad that she sounds low on emotion. and I like it. it's not like lots of other songs where the person is sad but they have so much energy.

she sounds like she's sad and tired. (which is a good thing for this song)

and as for Amy Lee's cover....I like it. it's just as good as this one.

it's not the same style though. so why is everyone comparing the two? that would just be saying which style you like better :)

  • I like both, but personally, I like the Amy Lee cover better.

  • For goodness sakes, you all need to just shut it about whose version's better. You all are the people that know how to destroy music and suck the beauty out of it. FIONA - Has a Monotone voice yet she does an AWESOME job, AMY - Has alot of emotion to her voice and she does an AWESOME job also. They both ROCK. They have different voices and GENRE'S. NOBODY should sound the same, other than this new shizz they play on the raido which is pop, all sounds the same. ENJOY UNIQUE-NESS!!!

    My last rant

  • Fiona Apple's voice is dead. There is no EMOTION. it's completely empty of feeling. She's singing in a monotone the music is just creating the illusion that there is feeling. Amy Lee has the voice for this song I believe. She's supposed to be singing about love that she cannot have, but it's not really working.

  • I love both versions. But Fiona's take on the song you can feel the sadness behind the song. Amy's voice is angelic but it was like she was trying too hard with it. I love both singers but I just love this version slightly more then Amy's.

  • @Rokkstarr6661 Agreed

  • they are both good artists with different styles so its just a matter of preference, i like this version but i also like amy lee's so its up to you. XD

  • Yeah not enough passion to melancholy, I think Amy's style was the most perfect fit. Like peanut butter and jelly

  • This version actually bores me. AMY LEE IS AWESOME

  • This version is awesome....but I think Amy Lee's is better :)

  • AWESOME!

  • Dear Fiona Apple,

Please perform this song live someday, and let someone video it.

    Thanks

    Your fans

  • @stillmattwest she didn't make this video though...

  • @64thquaver And...?

  • I like this cover, just about as much as Amy Lee's cover.

  • I can not believe that Amy's version is more famous. I just found this a few days ago and I'm furious I hadn't heard it before. I'm sorry but in my opinion Fiona is ten times better than Amy in general. Fiona's voice is just...........perfect for this song. I agree with uliekmudkipz, Amy's version brings nothing new to the table. It just sounds like every other song she's sung.

  • @ABTMommy I agree Fiona's version is WAY better. I actually love Amy Lee's voice (though Fiona's is, again, better IMHO) but all the whoa whoa's she tries to spice the song up with ruin it's melancholy feel. Fiona got it right. Sad, simple, haunting.

  • this chick sounds like adele in a way.... mybe its the raspyish voice they both share... i have 2say i like evanescnece version better.... they sing w/ more expression, and i dont think this is the best best voice 4this song.... but its still a verry verry good voice tho :)

  • To whom ever argues about which cover is better: Both Fiona and Amy Lee did a great job. You can tell they both put a lot of their own personality into their covers. Your musical tastes has nothing to do with the artists talent, they're both popular for a reason.

  • also all the evenesence groupies out here... can we agree to disagree? gosh

  • I like both versions.

  • This is better than Amy's. Its more sorrowful. And the music to it is very Beetlejuice, I love that.

  • This version is defiantly not as good as Amy Lees version. Fiona hasn't sympathised with how Sally would of felt. Yes she has put a darker twist on it but it wasn't needed for this song. Amy really went for it, she empathised with Sally and listening to it you could really imagine Sally singing like that, emotions overflowing. She cries out but Fiona didnt. Also Amys version is more beautiful and makes you want to listen. This version was just boring .

  • @Hann1099 Amy's version sounds like every other song she has ever sung. That's not my main point though, my main point is that you have terrible taste in music. Have a nice day.

  • @Hann1099 I find this one infinitely more sad and haunting because you hear such defeat in her voice (and if you listen to fiona's other songs it's different to those). Amy's is pretty, yes, but so was the original one. I happen to like this one because it's different and beautiful still. :)

  • amy's is so much better that wich one is better isnt even a topic its just unanomiously agreed upon

  • fiona's is beautiful. with amy's i feel like she's just trying to make it sound pretty. with fiona, she sounds sorrowful and defeated, and you get that feeling of night time and sally wondering the streets.

  • But all versions are beautiful.

  • I agree that her voice is perfect and tempo too fast.

  • i love this movie, i love fiona and evsence but i thnk amy lee does it better.

  • Fionna's voice isn't pretty enough, Sally had a sad And pretty voice throughout the movie, even this song. This lady lacks feeling as apposed to Amy who did it perfectly...also this version is song to fast..with dulls the effect

  • fiona is way better than amy :) her voice is dark and luring..

  • Amy Lee's version is much better. Fiona sings it like its just a song but Amy sang it like she felt it and these were really her emotions spilling out :)

  • Cathrine O Hara should be the only one who sings this song. Every other version pails in comparison.

  • @ThatHockeyChick98 Makes sense to me! Sorry I just put a lot of thought into it until it didn't make any sense! Ha

  • I honestly would've liked this version better than Amy Lee's had the tempo been slightly slower and sultry..... I still like it though her voice fits it a little better I think than Amy's, in my opinion that is.

  • amy lee's is better

  • I like all versions of the song because every musician has something genuine to add to the music and if it can't be appreciated then why do we bother listening to ANY music if all we are going to do is judge and criticize it? Can't we just enjoy it? Why must you guys knit-pick at every little detail you don't like about it? It's pathetic. I love ALL versions =)

  • Fiona´s version is so much better, and if you say there are no emotions in her voice, you are probably deaf...

  • This version blows. Totally, 100% blows. And Amy Lee's version is better, but not by much. You wanna hear this the way Elfman wrote it, then for fucks sake, listen to the original version, starring Catherine O'Hara. Stupid sheeple............

  • I prefer this over Amy Lee's version...Apple's voice is just so original and you can hear her resignation and tire :D

  • there isn't no love in this song ._.'

    Hate it.

    Amy lee's version is better!!

  • Beautiful, just beautiful.

  • Amy lees voice is too high for the song

  • @charsin135 How can she be "too high" for this song when the original song itself is extremely high pitched? Logic...

  • @everphantom charsin135 was talking about Amy's voice being too high, this is Fiona's version. I personally like both =]

  • @happydudeinthehouse yea that makes sense I guess I'm slow so I don't pick up on sarcasm even though I use it almost every day

  • @charsin135 Well you know what they say. Sarcasm is a sign of genius

  • Huh thts so strange ive never seen anyone who likes tht song .......... I guess i need to get out more rebeca black is a nice girl but i personally dont think she can sing ... Jst my opinion ... Oh welll i guess it doesnt matter tht much... My opinion tht is

  • @charsin135 haha, I wasn't being serious. Hence the Troll style comment. you can't add a sarcastic tone on the interwebz, I keep forgetting that

  • This describes me nd my guy friend all the time

  • I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG

  • Ew. This sounds so monotone. In my opinion Fiona is just singing it, not even. It sounds like shes just reading the lyrics and It sounds emotionless and boring. Amy Lee's version is better because she uses more tone to her voice and puts more emotion into it, and it doesn't sound monotone. Amy's voice has the airy and creepy/beautiful sound that fits perfectly for this song. Don't get me wrong, I like Fiona's music. But this song just wasn't that good of a choice for her to cover. Just sayin'.

  • @CookiesAreStellar WELL THEN -.- lol jk i agree.

  • @CookiesAreStellar I think you misunderstand the meaning of monotone. Also I don't feel that it's more emotion just a different emotion like what @Helzivsymph was saying. Sadness is not more of an emotion then anything else

  • it just seems a bit more passionately painful if that makes sense... i prefer this version because amy lee's version is more like a teenager complaining about her not getting a guy but this is more like the longing of an optimistic woman trying to be recognized

  • TheDobbyDies you are an idiot how do you even tolerate this crap

  • OMG THIS CHICK SUCKS AMY LEE IS THE BEST

  • @Lashawnah99 lolollool AMY LEE = JUSTIN BIEBER... You suck you stupid idiot. slipknot is best. rebbecca black friday omg bst song EVAAA!!!!111!!1!!

  • I like Amy Lee's version more

  • I love Fiona Apple's version the most because her voice is portraying the pain that Sally has for Jack. Amy Lee's version tells a story about how she can't find what she is looking for

  • Tone*

  • The way she sings it is so beautiful. The to e matches the theme of the song completely. I can actually feel the sorrow that she feels.....that fact that she can never be with the one she loves......a perfect replica of the emotions!! Bravo!!!!

  • its good but i still have to hear the other one but good job

  • How good!(Sorry if I sound old I'm only like 21)I find this better than Amy's by alot!

  • its good but she sounds like she was bored when she was singing i like it but i dont like how the musics almost totally different from the moves its good but i like amy lees version nd the original better

  • and will she see how much she means to me? I think it's not to be.

  • been a fan of nightmare before christmas since i was 7 =p (now 20) and i really do love this cover, who cares if it relates to the character or how it relates to the movie. Its a damn good cover imo.

  • I for one like how dark it is. *shrug.* Fiona's always had an amazing voice, period.

  • Dont like it. Taking away that it doesn't fit the character any more in any way at all, and looking at it by itself, I find her voice very slurry and unappealing. She doesn't sound as classical as it appears she is trying to be, and the music doesnt either.

  • @xavierrrr

    I completely agree!

  • Bellisima cancion :) amo la voz de fiona apple ... produce intensos sentimientos en mi!!

  • Great song ! I like Amy's version better though, because Fiona sounds a little unemotional and boring, and a little slurred especially the word "enthusiastic" . But this song is so great and addicting to listen to, I love it ! Still like Amy's better though. :]

  • Do not compare. Fiona Apple is a great artist, full of talent.

    She is brilliant, simply.

Go listen to those other songs!

  • Il ne faut pas comparer. Fiona Apple est une formidable artiste, pleine de talents.

    Elle est géniale, tout simplement.

    Allez écoutez ces autres chansons!

  • I adore this version of the song! Great sound and Fionas voice is amazing!

  • stop comparing amy to fiona. everyones gunna think 1st better, but guess what? ITS THE SAME SONG. go watch NMB4Xmas

  • COULD YOU IMAGINE IF LADY GAGA WERE TO SING THIS SHIT...OMG!

  • I really love Amy Lee, but somehow Fiona Apple just fits this song better.

  • @TheDobbyDies it does but what i love is that somehow fiona made this sound darker and it fits better i like it(:

  • I love both versions. Fiona's version I see a woman from the 30-40's era singing about her mobster boyfriend she just can't tame. Amy's I see a woman from a Dorian Gray/Frankenstein goth book singing about her love interest she can never have. Both version are beautiful in any case.

  • @Helzivsymph You totally nailed that imagery. Good call!

  • Fiona Apple's version is more dark but it is very strong and good. Amy Lee's version is more romantic and light. Both in essence fit with the film but are different styles. Fantastic versions though!

  • I don't get tire of this song

  • I adore this version, but, I have to admit, it wouldn't fit in the actual movie.

  • OMG I so totally love this song. I completely love it!

  • I don't see why people are saying one is better than the other, they're both good in there own way. Like, I really like this version, but the style of it wouldn't fit as well in the movie.

  • It kinda sounds like she slurring but its okay

  • I really prefer this version to Amy's. Amy's is good but Fiona give a more mysterious aspect to the song that I think is fitting.

  • "Shut up and listen" is the best sentence I´ve read around here !!!

  • I do like Amy Lee's version better, but never in a million years would I disregard any song that Fiona sings. They're both WONDERFUL artists, that come from different universes. That's what I think, anyways: complete opposite sides of the musical spectrum.. yet their inspiration for music derives from two common factors: sadness and anger. For the people that don't like Fiona you clearly have never heard any of her original work. Her music-- sorry, her art, is beautiful. Both are.

  • I came to this video to hear the difference and OK I'm leaving and not coming back to this one it's sucks! This is like bland, boring and emotionless... Whereas the other inspires emotion blah good bye fiona!

  • amy's is very theatrically sorrowful, whereas fiona's is more subtle and headstrong. i personally prefer fiona's just because i think it's a more interesting approach and really portrays a 'sinking feeling', but this is such a beautiful song that they both sound wonderful.

  • To be perfectly honest, I listen to both versions (Sally's, and Amy Lee's), and I've always liked Amy's version better...But now that I heard this version, I think I like this one just a tad bit better <3 (: They are all amazing though <3 Nighmare is one of THE BEST movies ever! (:

  • It's really beautiful <3 I love her AND Amy lee, they're both great =)

  • Sad, hopeless, and beautiful.

  • beautiful.......

  • Dang it, the song is over to quickly!

    Thumbs up if you agree!

  • I love this song. Fiona Apple's voice is magical. I wish she made more ablums then what she has, she is sooooo talented.

  • Though I'm a fan of Fiona, I'm also a much bigger fan of Amy Lee. This version is beautiful, and I especially like the background music, but I'm gonna have to say I like Amy's just a little more. But I still love this one!

  • I honestly can't decide between this version or Amy Lee's. This makes it sound so dead and melancholy, as if she's really given up, but the way Amy Lee sings it makes it sound as if she's still in pain over it...

    They're both amazing, full stop.

  • I have extremely mixed feelings on this version of the song.

On the one hand, I'm really not fond of Fiona Apple's vocals (No offense to her fans, I'm sure she normally does great stuff). She doesn't sound sad or lonely, she sounds bored!

On the other hand, I LOVE the background music, especially the strings and drums. They sound so lovely.

  • Love it!

  • Fiona killed this joint!

  • where can i get this song? ..fiona apple's version make it ten times better

  • Each lady put their own special twist to the song! Love both Amy & Fiona! <3

  • @lullaluna Amy Lee's is LACKING emotion?!?!?!? I think she puts more emotion than Fiona but I like them both

  • She wrote the song for the movie, look it up on pandora, you all are idiots

  • @julrichlewis Sally's Song was written by Tim Burton and originally voice in the movie by Catherine O'Hara so actually your an idiot.
