hi im mexican and i love loas rice and now i know how to make it so i eat loas rice all th time well my diet still home made corn tortillas every day but i just love the laos rice
sticky rice is clearly lao food. lao people may have awkward feelin about thai listing it as thai food and even in international tv but then thai people have right to do so why? cause esan people were part of lao, untill french divide land and gave esan region to thailand now esan turned to be thai
esan pple is orgin lao, eat lao food, have lao blood, speak lao = esan food is thai food.
sticky rice is the core of lao food they eat it like bread or like totilla eat with other stuff.
Mr. LongHairThailand is probably into South East Asian women, specifically Thai women, or if homosexual, into Far East Asian gay young men, called a "Rice Queen." Either way is fine. He looks like a nice guy. One thinks lots of South East Asian women or gay men would dig him? Good luck!
you can cook jasmine or any kind of rice in that, all you have to do is when the rice looks good but still a little hard you are going to have to pull out the whole basket and run it under hot water (boiling) or soak it in hot water for a couple of mins, and set it back on the stove, and it should be ready in about 10 to 15 mins after that process. you should give that a try, thats how we make rice.. thank you
you need. Not all asian stores carry it but they should know what it is and where to get it. Jasimine rice is boiled. I'm sure you could cook jasmine this way if your stuck on a desert island but if you really think about it you'll end up with a great big mess. Hope this helps, The Pope
I have to use a cheese cloth because the bamboo container I use has big slits in it and the rice will just fall through. Anyone know the best way to clean the cheese cloth after its used?
I have never seen a cheese cloth used in Laos or Thailand. I always thought the cheese cloth was used to keep the bamboo taste from the basket out of the rice. Personally I like the takes it gives off. My guess it's a trade off because you still have to clean the cheese sloth..Thnks for your imput. The Pope
i want to cross the sticky-ness with persian/indian saffron rice, which requires Basmati rice saffron salt and butter... mmm... sounds good, but does it work?
kool vid. plan on making some thai beef with sticky rice for my kids today and maybe a little sweet sticky rice i grew up in a thai house hold so we enjoy thai food all the time
Where can you buy one of those steamers from?

you said that you cannot use Jasmine Rice with this method. Does this mean that only certain kinds of rice can be turned to sticky rice?
if so, what types?

It would be best if you use a cheese cloth when steaming the rice.... just a hint to avoid cleaning a very sticky basket...

Question - The rice that is soaking at the start, it that rice already cooked or no??
damofritz 1 year ago
@damofritz - no, it's not pre-cooked. Just soaked for 2 hours. The cooking part is the steaming in the basket.
