I know! The basics are over looked nowdays, if you can get your knee to you're head, then it is preffered rather than a perfect carriage. In my opinion, carriage first, thats what makes Irish dancing special, the fact that you CAN NOT move your arms. Shame, because these kids do have fab footwork, but not the whole package.

I am Italian descent like Simona, too. Was Simona born in Italy, or was she born in the U.K.? It's really cool to see an Italian girl do Irish dancing so incredibly well. Just proves you don't necessarily have to be Irish to be a top Irish dance champion.

erm, practice practice practice and just walk around on them and bear through the pain?

yep, walk around on them and concentrate on it, place your weight on the big toe of your foot and turn them out. If you want other exercises try Jean Butler's dvd.

...lauren has more bounce which makes me notice her more. she is brilliant! simona has very sharps jumps and movement on her lead around. that lead fits so well to the music and simona is naturally good!

caoimhe-she's got a very different style of dancing. different bicycles- a complete different step, as many look a bit the same. gerard is AMAZING AND A TRUE CHAMPION! and aiden garvey is excellent, too. i love cyra taylor the best in this video, and the best boy in my opinion is gerard carson!

Now Cyra turns your head! she stands out with her energy, height and that bad carriage is what makes me think she can excel beyond that! i think her carriage makes you notice her!

I dont think its the fact shes not got enough strength, tbh I think its a lot more likely that since its a parade of champions shes just trying TOO hard to impress, nothing wrong with that, but if she danced like that in competition she would get marked down a lot

I dont think it helps the fact shes right up at the front and therefore isnt moving around the stage and has less momentum for height/lift etc so shes pushing harder
