  • @ binarydood, wow, exactly this game was just a piece of art on the screen, and through the great storyline, strong complex characters, and one hell of a soundtrack, only game i like as mutch is the sequel after this game, ff3, aka ff6 =)

  • I love how people talk like this game was made nowadays... It's 20 years old! Until the day this game was made, no toher game had a deeper storyline! Nor better music or characters... this pretty much was the start of the Golden Age of RPGs...

  • My first rpg was Ultima II which came out in like 82 haha im old....

  • 0:02 Wtf was that noise?

  • @BillyCauseyjr I played Chrono Trigger first but I still love 7 anyway.

  • In the SNES version, if you never use Meteo or White Zeromus never countered with Weak.

  • can someone give me there save file please my save files are always messed up for some reason where all the letters are mixed together

  • Those were the days... Elemental and Cure spells were numbered, Flare was called Nuke, Bio was called Virus, and Tornado was called Weak. Big Bang was also quite devastating if I do remember correctly, I had to keep Rosa on the heals constantly. Still my favorite game ever though. Great story, great cast of characters, great everything; a truly epic classic.

  • 4 was my first, and it was awesome. I followed it up with 7, and it too was awesome. Can't all we FF fans get along? (Except for X-2 fans?) lol

  • @BillyCauseyjr I don't know... Dragon Warrior compared to this game was like a sidequest... And american released FF3 was a few notches above this IMHO.

  • I loved VII for many reasons and I still think it's one of my favorites, but it's hard to tell if it's the best or not...

I also love Wild Arms, Breath of Fire, Dragon Quest (Warrior), Mother (EarthBound), Threads of Fate, Jade Cocoon, Lunar and Klonoa. :D Those are some really good games (series).

The Legend of Dragoon isn't half bad either.

  • I even feel pretty close to Zelda... I loved Link's Awakening even more than Ocarina of Time, and I feel so close to the female characters like Saria and Marin. :) Same for Ribbon from Kirby 64. <3

They were like my little sister or something that I had to say goodbye to as I grow up and live somewhere else. :(

  • Lastly, I suppose Star Ocean is great too, or at least Star Ocean: The Second Story.

  • well i like all the final fantasy games but i dont think ff vii is overrated :)

  • Final Fantasy IV was my first. Back in 1992!

  • OLD SCHOOL BIO FTW!

  • I love the music

  • I think I might plug in my SNES in again just to beat this guy :D Geez good game and good memories here

  • So is Zeromus suppose to look liek anythign or am I just not seeing it!? haha is he suppose to be a big mass of junk? Or...

luv this game so much! :-)

  • how are we meant to read what they're saying? slow down.

  • FFIV kinda reminds me of a star wars movie. Anyone else get that?

  • i did...the end when the characters are coming back to life for the final battle reminded me of dragonball z

  • Final Fantasy 7 had a weak story and 2 dimensional characters. It also wasn't helped along by the desire to release it as fast as possible, creating a whole slew of plot holes. FF4 was brilliant and endearing, not to mention ALL of the characters had depth. You're entitled to be a raving FF7 fanboy, but leave the other ones alone. Ok?

  • im a die hard ff fan and im nnot trying to start a debate with u more curious, but what plot holes r u talking about in ff7? i agree a few things could have been done better but what r u talking about

  • It's called a classic. Sides, if you just look at how many fucking games it sold, and realize, "Oh it's just my opnion FF7 is better." Then come back

  • Then why are they remaking it for DS? If it was so fucking shitty, why not FF7? Or FF5 or 6? CAUSE IT ROCKS. Look, people bought,

*quotes from wikipedia* In Japan, nearly 1.5 million copies of Final Fantasy IV were shipped to retailers. As of 2006, nearly 3 million copies of the game (including original and PlayStation re-releases) have been sold around the world.

And to add to this here's some more information. (Next post)

  • Major reviewers have called Final Fantasy IV one of the greatest video games of all time, noting that it popularized many common console role-playing game features.[70][71] Reviewers have praised the game for its graphics, gameplay and score.[70][58] Reviewers have noted that Final Fantasy IV was one of the first role-playing games to feature a complex, involving plot. Nintendo Power proclaimed it set a "new standard of excellence" for role-playing games.

Also it was produced in 199, fucking,2.

  • you must be another wow playing fag

  • I would just not bother with that guy. :B Especially since he considers FFVII to be better than this game, he's just not worth your time.

  • the cecil battle is sooo hard plus cecil kinda gets weaker when you battle cecil against himself

  • i have this game on my emulator and its kinda hard but the storyline is perfect without this ff then all of the ff would be worthless

  • so, who cares about "back then". its still boring fighting and childish story set to primitive music. ff7 at least had decent story and bearable fighting.

  • to theletter23:

but this was one of the first final fantasys for the snes besides without this one ff 7 would problaby be something else :P

  • great, we couldnt have had "a clockwork orange" without "the jazz singer" but i dont see anyone ranting about boring black and white movies.

  • Anyone can write any story. But FF IV's was EXCELLENT.

  • few people can write an excellent story but with your tastes i can see why you dont know the difference.

  • what makes ff 4 great? it has a story anyone could write.

  • theletter23 FF4 is one of the most memorable games of the FF series. I will never forget the moment I beat this game. I don't know who you're claiming to be. Roger Ebert? And who are you to compare FF4 with FF7? That's like saying Tron sucks because it doesn't have as good effects as The Matrix. State your bias. Because my imperssion is a fool who thought he was wise.

  • understandable, nostalgia is the only reason someone would like this game. and i am not criticizing its graphics (if thats what you mean by your matrix/tron example). after all every great book has less digital information then a videogame.

  • Nostalgia wasn't/isn't the reason I loved/love FF4. I love the storyline, the gameplay, and the music.

  • story is childish and shallow

    gameplay is tedious and repetitive

music can be bought orchestrated and listened to without playing the shitty game

  • The story is great and actually the exact opposite of what you stated. The gameplay is once again the exact opposite of what you stated. I didn't say I couldn't listen to FF4's music if I didn't have the game, but some of the music wouldn't exist without the game.

  • what deep plot element am i missing in ff4? i would think reader of classic literature like myself, or maybe even some serious critics, would have picked up on it.

  • FF4 had many things that made the plot good. It had love relationships, sad deaths, many swerves, and Characters like Palom, Parom, and Edge brought comedy to the table. Then you have the whole best friend factor between Kain and Cecil. Then you have the Brother factor in Golbez. How many times were you given a new main enemy? First it seemed like it was going to be the King of Baron, then it was Golbez, then it was Zemus and Zeromus (the reincarnation of Zemus).

  • it had cliche, annoying, un-challenging love interests. childish japanese humor. stock brother/friend elements which are resolved quickly and completely and predictably. what does it matter that the "bad guy" changed? did that really enthrall you so much? i never thought rydia died because it is a japanese cliche for untimely deaths to be fake, i can see right through it. if it was a good game find me a serious PhD critic who liked it.

  • It wasn't childish at all. The love interests certainly weren't annoying, or cliche, or un-challenging. The bad guy changing numerous times made for good swerves. It wasn't Rydia not being shown that makes one believe she is dead, it's that and the fact that Yang or Edward (one of them said this) mentioned that she was swallowed, that makes one believe she died. I don't care if a PHD Critic liked it or not (though that's not to say there isn't one), fact is it's a great game. It's a fact.

  • Not to mention the amount of times you thought a Character had died, only to learn that they (especially Rydia) have grown older and stronger. Then you have the sense of betrayel from Kain (even despite the fact that he was being controlled by Golbez, who was being controlled by Zemus). Look at how many main Characters there were too.

  • watch some anime, i bet you cant find a single plot or theme element not found in a sub-par anime. and every element has been done better somewhere else.

  • Watch some anime? You really should do some research before jumping to conclusions. I grew up a huge fan of Anime. It's ironic that you think it's a cliche for fake untimely deaths to happen, yet in that game an untimely death happens to Anna, Edward's GF. FF4 was fantastic all around, and I had seen a lot of Anime before I ever played that game.

  • you want me to research your habits?

  • I want you to research before making an assumption about the respective topic. Like instead of instantly assuming I don't watch Anime (and anyone who knows me would seriously call me an Anime nerd), perhaps you can ask me if I do first.

  • i was like five years old when i watched my mom beat this. it was really one of my first great childhood memories.

  • One of the greatest final boss battles ever. But still it doesn't compare to VI's battle against Kefka with Dancing Mad, although it was hell of a lot easier than this. God, how I hated Big Bang!

  • two things...first off..i just beat hard type..and they RETARDED down the text for american gamers lol rediculous..i'm glad they remade hard type on the ps2 ..and second off..A** HOLE IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE READ AT LEAST HALF OF WHAT WAS SAID! but hey..at least i got the gist of how stupid they made us feel by making the game THAT much easier back then..big bang should be hitting for over 2 grand and flare(nuke) shouldn't be doing 9999 ever lol

  • FF4 is my fav FF out of all i still remember when i use to ply it lyk 8-9 hours in the week end just so i can get all the crystals

  • lol...u finish this game in lv60+++? i'm only lv50 belows and finish the game 1...but tell me...where u get Splyh?!

  • Sirloin: this is the FFII(US) Easy Type. The Big Bang does like 700+ here, but more around 2k on the JP version. The only way I could beat it was to dart 12 Ragnaroks. =p

  • what level is cecil?

  • Ah...the one that started it all :D

  • edge is a ninja.

  • whos edge??????????????????

  • Haha, I remember doing this battle like a million times, and being like, ok one more time then screw this. Everyone was dead except rosa and I shot one arrow at him and he died.

  • heheheh, reminds me of my finest final fantasy moments.

  • Why does the earth have two moons if in this game they refer to the "Moon" (singular)?

  • I dunno, maybe just to make it look good?

  • WTF? this is for NES and SNES? is the one on the PSX the NES port?

  • This is my favorite video game of ALL TIME!!! Zeromus was so hard back then, but now he's cake lol

  • He really varied his attacks w/ Rydia. I always had her calling Bahamut or casting Meteo from beginning to end.

  • I miss this game.. like so hard core..

  • titoso...i always hit 9999 never any lees with kains jump...

  • Zeromus is just an ass kickin waiting to happen.

  • this is the damn easy one. in the Ps1 i played almost 50 hours extra training.

  • I feel and second that, except with less extra training because I'm still doing it.

  • WOW cains jump over 4500?! when i first started playing it did a fair amount of damage but OMG 4500?!

  • Gotta love that Holy Lance. :)

  • is the gba easy or hard type because zeromus was so easy when i was at lvl 50

  • WHoever did this needs to let us read what it says.

  • Agreed. But then again I have the game and beat it plenty of times, I just found it annoying where he would skip the big stuff only to pause on the small stuff.

  • He didnt dart the spoon for 9999.

  • At least he did with Excalibur for 9999

  • I dont like SNES sound

  • The person in who made this video seems to have made the battle quite hard for himself. Whenever a magic attack is cast on Zeromus, he will counterattack with a powerfull ability, like Nuke. when i fight him, I just use reguler attacks, and wait till he does Big Bang to cast a big heal on all party members. It might take a bit longer, but it works quite well. But I have noticed on my game that the Big Bang hurts my characters quite alot more even when they have about the same HP.

  • i love ff4 final boss theme is better on the SNES then the gba version, for some reason they sound different why's that?

  • they made changes to the port ironically, so even though it very much the same game, they've made some noticable minor changes.

  • I agree. I didn't get the same effects music wise with the GBA as I did the SNES. Whenever I play the SNES game, I get a shiver when I hear Golbez's music...didn't get that with the GBA. I was disappointed.

  • Edge Is My Dude! Ninjas Is Tha Shiznit.

  • ok as i was saying in part 1 the last time i played it was when i was 9 and i sucked than and now im 12 so im alot better and my cain has 7000 something hp same with cecil my summoner has 3500 something my lightmage has ... 5000 something and edge has like 5000 too

  • nobuo uematsu fu_kin owns.

  • Kain is so damm cool!

  • Nice job... Snes versio is much more easier than ps1

  • I hate Bing Bang!

  • how the hell can you last through big bang?

  • yup

  • best game ever

  • Well, I remember playing the American SNES version, and it usually did around 1,500 damage to my characters. I guess he's just well equipped or something.

Then again, it's been ages since I played the 'Easytype' version. I only play the Hardtype, PS1, and GBA versions now...

  • Actually, did you steal the Dark Matter? I'm sure it's in the SNES version too, isn't it? ("DkMatter" or something.) Or were you just at high enough levels to that he wasn't a threat anymore? xD

  • i heard the SNES version was based on the Easytype version of the game, so he probably isnt as much of a threat as the PS1 or Super Famicom Hardtype versions

  • ^_^

  • Lol...Zeromus...

    Hey! Try beating me!

    *Uses Tidal wave*

  • Nah, maybe that Omega guy...;)

  • Omega....

    (Pulls out a laser)

    Omega:OMG!!! *Shot*

  • oops i meant 2000-3000

  • ye this is the easy type snes version

  • is this the ps1 version or snes? im wondering why big bang only did like 800 istead of 200-300 like the one for gba

  • This is the SNES version

  • Great video dude. Zeromus wasn't hard to me when I first fought him. But I still love that battle. Great job.
