I got the note pads but i end up writing on anything that can be written on at the job site. note pad does not stay dry in my shirt pocket. a box flap works well as a grocery back side slip an atm slip.
Dr Z. I no longer write it down not only because my hand writing sucks but it is faster to take a photo of it with your phone. I was going to upload one of mine but I am not good on a computer either.
You're preaching to the choir, Doc. I've found myself writing model and serial numbers on the blank border of paper currency (single guys ALWAYS have money!). I now keep a pad from Beating and Drooling (ok... Heating and Cooling) in my toolbag at all times.
I'm a huge fan of the free 1/8" slot screwdriver that supply houses give away like Halloween candy. The schrader core remover feature is nice, but not required. The #0 Phillips end of the reversible shank is what seals the deal.
I probably should keep my note pad in my tool bag. I have a habit of sticking my note pad in my shirt pocket. Then after I've been out in the heat all day, my note pad is all wet.
Yep agree with the note pad for sure, I'd forget what i need by the time I got to the bottom of the ladder if I didn't write it down. lol my old HVAC teacher always said be a nice guy and leave a note for the next guy about what was done to the unit, I try to leave one as much as possable, but rarely find one from other techs, also a small pocket flash lite to hold in teeth is mighty handy, since my eyes arn't what they used to be! haha keep the vids coming enjoy them much!
yeah i installed a compressor today at theater and the the unit next to me went out and the note pad came in handy to write equitment stuff really is important
IMO most important item an HVAC tech MUST have in their possession daily......drum roll please........................... A lighter!!!...works great in tight spots when the lighting is just not enough, and for my money, when i was in HVAC, when i was frustrated with a situation, if i didnt have a light for my smoke, it would just ruin my day....LOL
This is so true. I don't work in the the trade anymore but I still carry around the leftover notepads I have from the different suppliers. I got all the freebies too like the the t-stat screwdrivers from every supply house and the notepads, pens, schrader valve removers and pt charts. I miss the supply houses getting coffee and donuts and chatting with the guys. Most of all checking out all the hvac tools.
hahaha true i got my whole center console full of there "freebies"

They are big in the mid west. Both deal with heatcraft and copeland.

That is probably is the cheapest tool and you can have as many of those as you want, Babe.

My handwriting sucks, too. I always have to translate my handwriting to the people at the supply stores.

The coffee, donuts and chatting with the guys is part of my day, too.

Video creators need those tools too... Truly, without them about 95% of spontaneous hilarity would never see the light of day.
--- I like the wondering camera.

I have a few pages in my notepad that's dedicated to my video making notes. The camera kept falling off the dashboard.
