  • Yes he has his own style

  • Hope to watch you again play in Manila soon. It's been a long time since you played here & in behalf of your huge followers here, we would be glad to hear your cool voice & see you perform again, Mr. Cool. Mabuhay ka MF!

  • MICHEAL FRANKS has one of the best male jazz vocals in music history, yes Tony Bennett,Harry Connick,Frank Sinatra etc,etc all good but this guy still going with the same voice if not better, good on you Mike.

  • Fabulous the greatest chill out song of all time for all you 9 to 5ers, its a shame about all the cheap talk on here from non musicians who think they sound sophisticated with words like a.....e come on get a life the music is for enjoyment and uplifting the soul, if its not for you then dissapear you wont be missed.

  • talk about the most unusual, touching and jazz voice ever(to say nothing of his composer talent)

  • what are you saying asshole, you want funny music listen to Britney Spears, you make me sick

  • @huharoto what are you saying asshole. britney sucks also. Franks makes me puke.

  • the fact is what do you know about music, what do you like, no man after all you are wrong about Frank

  • Nice music! I still love that song "Eggplant" from time I first heard it. in 1985! Still love it the same from 25 years ago!

  • This is the song we played on our way to FLA in the winter time from NJ on 95 ,for our cruises and the key"s

  • Argh I hate Till Broenner -.-

  • nice,cool, great musician,..i love your voice...n your technique vocal.....from 1995......bravo for MF..GOD BLESS U..

  • Gosh i looove Michael Franks.

I have been a fan for more than 20 years. My dream came true 2 years ago when i went to see him in concert in Tokyo at the Bilboard. We were at the most 60 people attending his great performance. There were just a few tables (it was a bar and restaurant at the same time) but it was heaven, a private concert with Michael Franks !!! And, i had the chance to meet him afterwards.I was so shy and impressed.

I definitely will do that again,he comes often to Tokyo and Osaka

  • Lucky you!

  • i know what you mean.....i met him 2 times for lunch and breakfast !! and visited more than 10 concerts.....in differnt frames.......my hero.......

  • @shinagawagirl aren't you so special and precious for being the shy girl.

    golly gosh.

  • @shinagawagirl How could you stand it. An almost private show with seemingly one of the classiest jazz artists of modern time. I guess I would have been pretty speechless too.

  • @Mrtiele:You bet! I guess i looked stupid for more than an our with my mouth open and my eyes shining.Especially after the concert when i met him,i was all trembling.I made him sign my favourite album panflet "Blue Pacific".Going back to my hotel,i was walking on a cloud...

I wish to have the same experience with Ronny Jordan (God i love him too)He played at the Blue Note in Tokyo last June, and i had to attend a lousy wedding in France (i'm french), i could have been in front of Ronny instead!

  • Amazing how he still sounds the same after all these years. Great artist! Post more recent stuff if you have it. I know he has a few tour dates in 2009.

  • would you know if he has any scheduled concerts in Asia?

  • In Asia i don't know. I'm french and live in France. In Japan as i go either to Tokyo or Osaka once or twice a month, that's "easy" for me. Otherwise on the Billboard Tokyo site, you can see the schedule over several months but it's written in japanese... I can't read chinese kanjis, just the Kanas, so i can understand a bit. But obviously, he comes to Japan at least once a year. And about the price i paid... It was nothing to me. Y9000. For a night like this,it's a gift...

  • So far I've never been disappointed at a michael franks concert. This IS GREAT!!!

  • i prefer the studio version. anyway always good to ear ;)

  • Nice..........one of the most underrated artist ever.

Keep playing Michael ! Your voice is golden !!

  • What a voice, what a sound, HE is unique!

  • Michael sigue tendiendo la misma maravillosa voz que hace 30 años... simplemente encantador... el mejor.

  • Even tho he aged some, his voice still sounds the same.Smooth and mello.Still the coolest.(:>

  • Saw him last night. His voice is as mellow and the music is a great as it was 30 years

    ago!! Maybe even better!!

    he has never changed. thanks

  • Yes, what is art never die.

    Thanks for the comment

  • amazing...

  • thanks!

  • wow! love it..!

  • what a moron ...that's a perfect bossa nova; very laid back, totally fits the song and sets a mellow mood. You said one thing right... "Dennis Chambers is a great drummer..." if you'd have stopped right there, you wouldn't have sounded like an idiot.

  • Dennis Chambers is a great drummer, but his bossa nova feel is terrible.

  • ----------La continuacion de algo muy bueno!!!!

  • yes, i think so

  • One of the most outstanding trumpet solos I have ever heard...soulful!

  • his voice never changes, he's so amazing

  • cool, cool, jazzy tune....makes me want to be "under the sun". thanks for your post and for adding me on your friend list. what great taste in music!

  • he look so old now,..wow

  • Jazz at its best..mellow, sexy and beautiful..Michael Franks is so talented..love him.

  • The feeling of peace inside you get from Michael is the best you can get from a musician.

  • we all love Michael,

    thanks Dotz2ro

  • Thanks to you

  • Brought my first LP my Michael Franks back in the 80's in my hometown Los Angeles. Now living in England, and miss this sound which to me is very L.A!!

  • 4ever cool...

  • Ang galing mo pa rin Mike! Ikaw ang aking pinaka paborito sa lahat! Kaya lang di pa kita nakikita hanggang ngayon, sana magawi ka sa Toronto. Mabuhay!

  • A great song by Michael Franks. Makes me think of sitting on beach just chillaxin' and drinking frozen cocktails.

  • Very nice!!!

  • U kidding me is that Chambers?

  • Precioso tema y magnífica interpretación!

    Un saludo,

    Elsa.

  • Gracias y enhorabuena por tus videos me parecieron muy interesantes

  • excellent, beautiful... thanks for posting...

  • Michael sei un grande.. la tua musica fa sognare...

  • This musical night out would have been worth every penny it cost. Every musician is jamming, holding nothing back.

You can feel the vibe, feel how they are grooving and enjoying it as much as the audience. This is not just a gig for them you are making music, very sacred music.

  • Who's the trumpeter? He's hot and a fine trumpeter, too.

I can't get enough of this song! It's wonderful to see Michael Franks back in fine voice. Most of his songs are insinuatingly haunting and conjure up places I want to be.

One of his very best songs!

  • The trumpet is Till Bronner is from germany, is a young new value for jazz and hes an important trumpet now in jazz, maybe like Rick Braun.

Its great see that something you like its feeled

    by other people. Thanks

  • The trumpet player is fantastic. Belisimo! And its great to see Michael Franks again. He is most famous in the US for popsicle toes!

  • god i love michael franks... his voice is hypnotic

  • brilliant song

  • I`m so happy !!!

  • ! PLEASE !! ¿ Is that A:C:Jobim on the piano??

  • Is Jim Beard, but Michael Francks has so many influenced from Jobim, they were great friends, His song "Antonio" his dedicated to Jobim, and the CD "Abandoned Garden" was made when Jobim died in 1995. I recomended to you.

  • Still Great as ever.

  • I put in 1o hour days working at a bar in Kentucky way back in the 70's......listening to whatever was blasting on the jukebox. My girlfriend picked me up one day after work and as I reached for the radio knob to turn it off....Popsickle Toes began and it was like breath of fresh air! Been a Michael Franks fan ever since!

  • Yes, then you catched the Mf feeling, congratulations, keep on listening, i need to hear it constantly, its addicted.

  • nice video.....

  • This performance blew me away. 7 minutes of oblivion and sunny dreams. Classic is classic. Thanks for uploading

  • Like a fine wine.

  • this man is magic

  • the coolest white man to date.

  • voice of velvet

  • Great music and thank you for posting.

  • Still sounds great!!

    Love it-

    Thanks!!

  • ha!!!!.se vale?.-claro....fantástico...un saludo a la distancia.-

  • This is one great singer you're on the sands you feel the wind the rain when he sings youre just there

  • This is just so unbearably smug and bourgeois.

  • cilamc - maybe in your experiences, you associate this with "smug & bougeois" because ...um... well bad experiences with "smug & bourgeois" people who listened to this musical styling? I just think its kinda weird to associate it that way is all. Just curious.

  • Legend.

  • I close my eyes...and ...under the Sun I am...Thank you Mr. Franks.

  • nice lyrics...timeless.

  • timeless ... better than ever!

  • This is amazing that you two are talking about the connection between John Mayer and Michael Franks. When Room for Squares was first released, the New York Times compared these two wonderful artists to each other. As you have both said, JM and MF both have that smooth airy sound to their voices that is just amazing. I am glad to hear that JM and MF is up there on your list, because they are both very high on mine.

  • wtfomglmfaog2g that is amazing that you made that connection too. MF has been my very favorite ever since The Art of Tea came out. No one since has really caught my ear. Then Room For Squares came out and my wife heard J. Mayer on the radio. She said to me "Hey I just heard someone you might like". Ever since Mayer has been my 2nd fav. They both hit that certain button in my brain. That is so weird that you and I both see that. I don't think others make that connection. Sonny, Penn Hills, PA

  • Definitely man. MF is just amazing! I've always loved his stuff. Like you said, when JM came out, I was blown by the maturity in his voice. That airy smoothness is so unique and heartfelt. JM is a bad boy! Crazy talent/gift. Great taste my friend.

  • michael best vocalist

  • It's amazing how much John Mayer sounds like him. Two totally different styles and generations. Wow. Michael is incredible

  • michael has always been such a favorite of mine how sad we get old but he still has that same sexy voice.. love ya michael

  • Michael Franks is no song writer, he is a poet and a gentleman

  • This is great! please keep sending the other songs (especially Michael Franks). Please let us know if you post/upload the better quality version to somewhere else

    Thanks a lot
