19:40 HIS REALLY SCARY FACE HE SHOWS THE COUPLE IN THE MODEL CEMETERY "ya like it?" SNAKES AND STUFF. HEH CARTOON IT MANAGES TO MAKE IT LESS SCARY BUT STILL BIZARRE.
Omg to all the ppl who don't know or remember this show. The cartoon was before the movie and the movie was by Tim burton aka not accurate. Burton makes his own twists.
@theechaoticpsychlown: NO. The movie came in 1987, a year before the series, hence the use of Day-O (due to legalities, Harry Belafonte was probably paid for the song's use), the wedding ring (seen on Lydia's finger in Out of My Mind), & the double meaning behind the "anniversary" of the two "friends".
@Kanani4455 the tv show doesn't follow the movie. The anniversary is for them having met and becoming friends a year before the start of the show and shes 14 during the first 2 seasons i think then shes 15-16 in the later ones if i remember right.
@mgskid: The show does reference & loosely follows the movie. Tim Burton's involvement is proof of that. In fact, BJ was supposed to be a good guy in the film--although the original script had him wanting to RAPE his future "wife"/"best friend", even though she was meant to only be 12 in the film & subsequently near-13 in this show per her character bio--but because the film needed an antagonist & BJ was the only one qualified, there you go then.
@Kanani4455: She is near-13 following the film, which lead to this show. But the "marriage" was one-word off from being complete--although the "until death do you part" portion is irrelevant, since BJ is already dead--and Lydia still has the ring (per Out of My Mind), not to mention the fact that Burton wanted BJ to be a hero yet put him as the film's antagonist since the film needed one & since BJ is so good at bugging people. Plus, a deal's a deal, even with dirty scum like BJ.
I remember seeing this show but I don't remember it THAT well....all I remember clearly was the movie. Wasn't Beetlejuice technically the "bad guy" in a sense? why are they friends in this show...me confuzzled.
@Starpooch: People need to quit saying that. It was never specific what Deila was to Lydia in the cartoon. Sure, Lydia calls her "mom" & "mother", but many stepchildren call their stepparents by their formal titles of "mom" & "dad" as much as they do their biological families (if they know them, that is).
"or are they acctually married here?! I don't think the cencores would let that slide"
Remember, this is Burton. He lives off of the living with the dead. BJ was just his first foray into that controversial world. Corpse Bride continued it & the long-planned sequel to Beetlejuice--the film, not this cartoon that's loosely based on the film--would also continue it too, as long as Keaton, Ryder, & Burton are all involved.
Never watched the show as a kid, did watch the movie. But this show is awesome even now, the art n stuff is so rad :3

@TheGrizzzle Actually, quite a while before. This ended in the late 1990's I believe, and that's where Tim Burton got the inspiration. :3

I just started watching this.
and it's amazing how everything is made acording to the movie
exept for the fact that the maincharacters from the movie aren't there
and that Perky and Beetlejuice are best friends right now(which should be weird after him doing the whole pedo-you-will-marry-me thing) XD
or are they acctually married here?! I don't think the cencores would let that slide :P
Great show anyway^^<3
