  • Then why exactly was Great Britain so terrified of the loss of the supplies, food, petrol, ammunition, weaponry and raw materials from America?

I'm assuming you're saying the war would have been the same without the daylight bombing campaign, the massive numbers of US aircraft, ships, troops and defenses ..right?

History recognizes a few key facts, that being that Britain was not in danger of being invaded by force..but was not winning the war until the entry of the US.

  • Ok..simple.

Following the battle of Verdun in 1916 France and Britain had come to an agreement that following the end of the war, should it be a victory obviously, that Germany would be made to pay for the battles of the Somme and Verdun.

Following the US entry into the war and the following surrender of Germany, France and Great Britain demanded massive sums of money in the form of reperations and economic penalties on Germany for "causing the war" when in reality it was a dispute ...

  • between Serbia and Austria.

The US officals, under the direction of President Wilson, demanded a "just and fair peace", aka..no victors peace, just an end of the war. Eventually President Wilson became ill and had to leave and the person he left in his stead buckled under the pressure from Britain and France.

The amount of money, economic sanctions, punishments and general destruction that was left in Germany at the insistance of France and Great Britain led to the horrible economic

  • and political weakness that led to the rise of the popularity and power of the National Socialist movement and, by default, the rise of Adolf Hitler.

THAT is history and THAT is why I say that the greed, lust for revenge and stupidity of France and Great Britain led to the rise of Hitler and the condition that led to the second world war.

  • lol i love how the opening title of this video declares

    "Let's All Join In!"

Pity you Americans didn't think of that in 1939 instead of hiding like cowards yelping "it's not our war" while your allies were dying, huh?

  • Learn history dumbass, the US was in the war from the beginning, just not offically.

Besides, Britain and France created the mess in Europe that led to the rise of Hitler, why not let them clean it up?

  • Learn REAL history - you hid like cowards for as long as you could and only joined when you had zero options left (Hitler declared war on you).

If it wasn't for that, we'd still be waiting for you yellow cowards to turn up.

  • Maybe something hasn't occured to you but uh....War is bad...and People die in war... I don't know kind of strikes me as moderately important when you're deciding if your country should go to war.

  • I have friends who tell me how difficult it is to sing the star spangled banner. I agree. But listen to Robert Merill and tell me it cannot me sung.

  • dont make fun of the swiss they have the right to stay nuetral and guys dont get full of yer selfs if we are then we will fall behind and russia will catch up

  • America is AWESOME!!!!!!! thank you America for keeping the peace in the world!! You saved Europe, South Korea, and etc!!

  • Thank you , I live in America , My father was a ww2 vet , He was humble and kind , never boasted about what they did in Euroup , alawys helpful and respectful , God bless his soul , I am proud to be his son in law .

  • My country is THE BEST .

  • I live in America, and I am proud to be American. However, all this war on terror bullshit makes me sick. I wish that as a nation we would keep out of other peoples affairs and try to run our own country. Also, all this we are the best nonsense needs to stop. Just because you like it doesn't mean its the best, its just a preference. I know its naive of me, but I wish that we could just all treat one another with a little respect instead of killing everyone who is different than us.

  • Yeah, I know. It would be nice though.

  • THAT is how you do this awesome song!

  • This is the kind i like!

  • Robert Merrill aka Merrill Miller sang the National Anthem many times at Yankee Stadium before his death in 2004

  • USA The greatest nation ever existed and will existe on the face of the earth(This is my opinion and my experiace living in America..Americans are as KIND as CHRIST can be.)

  • join the U.S in its War against terrorists unless you are one of them living in switzerland!this is a battle between good(The U.S and its allies and EVIL (The brother hood of islam) Since I live in the United States, I consider it the greatest nation because of the kindness of its people compared to people in the Arab world (where I originated) European people are also very kind and are the origin of most of the people in the United States.

  • Saving this to favorites.

  • Interesting enough:) I will have a question though: is this a video from 1944? cause looking on the equipment of soldiers marching, and training, seems to me more like pre-war film footage.

  • thanks for showing this video on youtube I really appreciate it
