  • cant make my laptop to work is a hp touchsmart tx 1275dxsome help please.. n-tring hardware was not detected on your system im in process of updating firmware.

  • @devils666666 it should be the TX2... the first one, the TX doesn't work since the touch screen is a) not an ntrig hardware and b) can't support multi touch at all... sorry

  • @zaghy2zy sorry i mised the number 2 is tx2 1275dx..

  • @devils666666 aahhh, alright then. Do you have the ntrig device disabled at the device manager? (Right-click my computer > manage) because if it's disabled there, the installer can't "detect" it. also, in the device manager, make sure you can see the device there. If not, might be that your tx2 is a bit broken (like mine right now) that sometimes the touchscreen does not work...

  • can you post the link to download the drivers i cant find them =/ plz help

  • @LilZ14007 you can get them at the HP site.... go to the site, then select Support and Drivers. Click on Drivers and Software, then type in TX2 1024ca then press enter. Then from there, select the OS and then so forth.

  • nice vid!

Im considering to buy a TouchSmart tx2-1150 second hand, but im wondering if its possible to upgrade from the Vista platform to windows 7 with the drivers and all..

Perhaps you happen to know? =)

    Cheers!

  • @SatanSucks if you do a direct upgrade from vista to 7, it will definitely work. Although, to reap the full windows 7 experience with the (real) multi-touch and other things, you will need to install the windows 7 drivers (can be found at HP's site) however, once you're at 7, going back to vista will be quite a problem when you install the win7 drivers because the drivers update the firmware of the touchscreen (only) and is no longer compatible to the vista drivers (the touchscreen will brick)

  • @zaghy2zy although, they say if you do want to go back to vista (why would you?) you just have to uninstall the drivers at the control panel so that the uninstaller will downgrade the firmware to the vista compatible firmware.

but, yeah, you can definitely do an upgrade. Or you can also do a clean install which I do recommend, all drivers needed are at the HP site so it wouldn't be an issue.

  • @zaghy2zy

Great! thanks! I found the drivers on the HP website.

Ill be picking it up next monday, cant wait. =)

  • @zaghy2zy

    Great! Thanks!

I found the drivers on HP's website, and will be picking up the computer next monday. =)

Im really curious how its going to work out, its going to replace and old Acer machine that died on me recently.

  • @SatanSucks no prob! hope you enjoy it,

  • @MrCarrococo you are such a troll.... STFU and research what you're saying.... this isn't an imitation of any apple product... Microsoft has been in the touchscreen industry waaaaaaaay before apple did... What apple did is make it look pretty and put too much hype in it without actually doing anything helpful in the industry.

  • i CAN NOT WAIT to get my tm2!!!

  • The dell latitude xt2 is much better on screen and touch quality, it uses itouch screen technology for easy touch navigation, but the HP tablet is much more powerful, with a customizable graphics card for gaming and 3D predation buff. The tablet only come with intel built in graphics card, but if you are an artist and what the best tool to use for drawing, airbrush.ext, then Dell has a better tool for artists; if you like trusty laptop to quench your gaming needs at times then go with HPtablet

  • my tm2 is bettar LOL jk, they are such great computer, they beat they competitors in price and quality

  • @357Y1 one of my friends got a tm2 and she thinks it's awesome, :D

  • one word Wacom Cintiq 21UX

ok 3 words x), it pwns every other touch screen, it's definitely the best touch screen / graphic tablet, worth every $

  • @SilverGunZoO looks cool man... but you're comparing two very different things....

  • @zaghy2zy I guess so, but wacom can be used as touch screen, and it's way more acurate, so yeah.

  • @SilverGunZoO yes yes, :D but this is a consumer notebook... while if you compare the cintiq to desktop touch computers, then I might agree more with you. however, the cintiq is quite a heavy investment unless we are actually using it for graphic design.... most people looking into this video would actually be after average person prices and uses. The cintiq is far from being an option to them (even for me) for the purpose we are after.

  • @zaghy2zy Yeah of course it's not for everyone, it's big and very expensive, but I wasn't talking about witch is most convenient, but witch is the best.

  • @SilverGunZoO I see I see... then about that I'd agree with you... :D

  • dumb question maybe idk..

but at the beggining of the video ur using flip 3d right.?

    r wat is that..?

can u teach me how to use it i just got my tx2 with windows7 ...

  • @GABERx3 yup, it was flip 3d... and it was triggered by a custom pen/touch flick you can set on the pen settings in the control panel

  • Although the touch features seem cool, DON'T BE FOOLED. This one is not worth the money and I wish I had listened to the reviews on how bad it is. You will not end up using the pen as much as you think and the hinge for flipping the screen weakens quickly. Also, it gets REALLY HOT when running.

If you're going to spend this much on a TX2 or TM2, you might as well get the Battalion TouchScreen CZ-10, which is superior in every way.

I hope someone reads this and is spared the trouble I had.

  • @mrtravislim yup, during the time of TX2, it was prime, but now... it's more of a meeeeh.. than a wow for me... I now recommend others to look elsewhere now.. :D

  • @mrtravislim Can you rotate a Battalion touchscreen CZ 180 degrees and face it flat down on its back and let you draw on it as if it was a peice of paper? Nope but graphics card wise it destroys tx2 and tm2.

  • @Daxter609 Yes, exactly the reason why I bought a TX2!

  • @zaghy2zy Good thing I bought one too the High School I'm going to next year requires that all homework has to be typed. I normally hate typing because I'm not a good fast typer I get ALOT of errors when I type fast but my handwrting is terrible when I write fast which is how I usually get my work done fast. So this computer is making it easier for me. mrtavislim seem to forget that it is a Tablet PC they aren't well known yet which is why they get these kind of specs.

  • yeah, thanx for the vid. i'm not sure if i want to buy a touchscreen laptop cause they're soo expenisve....but this is definitely a competitor

  • It shouldn't be that hard to pick soon, since there will be more choices soon. Or maybe it gets harder since there's more choices to pick from at different prices ranges and different features?

Just wait it out for now, I'm sure you can find something you like. :D

  • i have this this laptop is amazing

  • Did you upgraded it from vista to windows 7 ?

  • It came pre-installed with Vista, but I wiped it and moved to Windows 7 when Windows 7 RC came out... and is still running windows 7 till now... but I now run a retail copy of windows 7 pro

  • EPIC

  • great video man , what is the release date ??????

  • release date of what?

  • How glossy is the TX? I understand that most HP products have very glossy screens. Is there at least some sort of backlight to keep the gloss from showing?

  • there definitely is backlighting.... and the tx2 doesn't have as much gloss compared to normal hp notebooks, probably because it is a touchscreen so that it can partly pass by without having the screen be much stained with fingerprints... hehehe which it seems to work very well if that's the purpose.

  • Hey, thanks a lot for this video, you seem to know a lot. Your comments were very useful to me.

I'm compiling playlists of information about this, and other touch screen computers, so thanks!

  • Yup, no problem!

I don't really think I know a lot, maybe just enough to help people... hehehe

P.S. there are also other content about the TX2 from me attached to the Video responses. just check them (and the video responses which are from me) and I hope they provide more help.

    Regards

  • Did you have to define right click gesture or is it like that by default?

  • the right-click is built-in to windows.... I did not define it.

  • i have a tx2 but i dont know how to do the movement you did right at the beginging can you please explain how to do dat its cool

  • if you are familiar with the pen and touch flicks, that's it... I just added a diagonal (to the upper left direction) flick to accept a win-tab keyboard shortcut... I also added a lto the lower left direction flick to accept a show desktop keyboard short cut which is win-d

    so yeah.. hope that helps

  • I am getting annoyed by the spammers who keep posting links about the windows 7 download...

  • Toshiba has released a download page for the touch pack. I'm enjoying my TX2 all i can is.... FUCKING EPIC!

  • O.o wow! hahaha well then people! Download from there! Horay!

  • For the sake of you guys, here's the link, just fix it:

    csd(dot) toshiba(dotcom) (slash)cgi-bin(slash) tais(slash) support(slash) jsp(slash) outFrm(dot) jsp?ofId=AskIris&searchString=touch+pack&x=0&y=0

  • first item on the list.... so yeah...

I am not licensed to issue the touch pack as download... so don't ask me... well now, toshiba must stupid enough to allow public download for it... as far as I know microsoft only allows it to be pre-installed and it should not be for public download.... but yeah, since they have it on public, grab it now!

  • looks like a really fast model

  • if i change my vista to 7, will the hp software stay the same.......eg.hp Mediasmart, HP Mediasmart Webcam........i need an answer please!!!

  • yup, if you do a direct upgrade from vista to windows 7 it would still work... no problems...

but there's a new plethora of TouchSmart programs from HP at their site desinged for windows 7... I recommend to upgrade to those version and uninstalling the previous version when you're in windows 7. but I assure you that the ones in vista would still work in windows 7.

  • Does the new Hp touchsmart software come with the new windows 7 TX2's cause I'm not sure. tug of words is one their new software but it doesn't say anything else. I have this feeling if i get it it won't have the the new touchsmart. I looked at a review for the new HP Touchsmart TX2-1377nr I dont know what "Nr" stands for but the one avalible to my country is the TX2-1370us will they all have the same software cause I saw it on the 1377nr.

  • the NR stands for the country the build was released... mine is a 1024ca and it's a canadian release. yours is a US release...

  • Oh thanks but what does NR stand for know Ca stands for canada and Us stands for united states. I just checked HP I looked in the manuals and 1370us does have it i checked their manual and it showed it that.

  • Well HP disappointed me I went to their site to search up the touch pack and the only model that had it listed in the software category it was the HP touchsmart TX2-1380la. Hopefully they have it on all the models or at least for major countries like US and Canada.

  • I can't find it either on their site... I think they will only provide it pre-installed and you don't actually get to install it yourself...

  • What are you talking about the touch pack or touchsmart software. If it says Tug of Words does that mean it will have TouchSmart Software in order to run it or does it run on it own?

  • I don't really know.. hahaha haven't actually heard of that until you told me about it.. lol

  • yes sir windows 7 is insanly backwards compatible.. so with a little graphics treaking it could even run on old hardware

  • @WeaRdcomp

    actually it cant

backwards compatible means it can run programs for other windows operating systems

  • can i have win7 and vista at time?

  • yup, but you have to take note of the technical issue between vista and windows 7 with the n-trig drivers...... you need to consult the n-trig site about that.. but yeah, you can have vista and windows 7 dual booting... or so

  • ok thank you. did you find the drivers of the fingerprint?

  • I used the vista drivers and software.. because I find them more useful.... lol

but you can always let windows look for the drivers for you.... go to the device manager then select the finger print device then so an update driver, then it should find the right driver for it

  • n-trig has full support for win7

  • Do you think that the TX3 will come out by fall 2010

  • I don't know yet. I haven't checked the news about that yet. hehe

  • probaly after the 2500 series like the TX

  • Please note that the N-Trig drivers are now available from HP and N-Trig sites for the TX2 digitizer for multi-touch and pen. Please update if you have the 1.59 RC drivers.

  • Whats an itouch?

  • using the multi touch on google on google earth doesn't seem to make a big deal since the vista one can pretty much operate like that. I plan on getting one of these TX2's but I will not use a upgrade disc i'll just stick to the vista since I'm not going to ditch a OS for a new OS that just came out I'll wait a while when tablet pcs with windows 7 installed on them come out.

  • well, I do agree it is still worth the wait.

but as far as I've seen this is unlike any release of Windows that Microsoft has released in the past where the initial release is buggy and problematic. But, if you can wait, most certainly I'll assure you can find something that's probably even better once more touch and tablet pcs come out because of this big step windows has done.

But to date, TX2 is the best touch and tablet pc for the general public, that I've seen. cost and power wise

  • Yes but even if windows 7 does come out I find anyone who goes and get it is to be stupid or foolish they should have learned there lesson after vista and mac. Every OS thats come out will have bugs and glitches. Well if Penpoint OS was still alive I think it would have kicked windows 7's ass in multi touch. Penpoint was an OS made for tablets so I'm pretty sure it would beaten windows 7 multi touch. I heard the dell latitude XT2 has good multi-touch. All the hypocrites should back off.

  • I can say it again: The Best presentation I've seen for this product! Good job, I'll get one for birthday :D

I've got a game where you can scroll across the map if you hold the right mouse key klicked. Does this work with the touch screen, too? I mean scrolling with 2 fingers, and what's about zooming? Can you zoom in with this gesture?

    !!!Thank you!!!

  • I guess you can..... haven't tried tho... what game are you talking about?

  • I upgraded Windows 7 build 7100 from Vista on my HP TouchSmart IQ818 and it perfectly works! When you want to use multi-touch feature you will need to install the software - go to google and type "NextWindow's Windows Driver Download" then download the file :-) Dont worry about software compatibility as Win 7 is very compatible with vista. When you upgrade it, you must click to check compatibility and if they show any software incompatibility with Win7, you must uninstall it before upgrade it.

  • look i have touchsmart 22inc and i have vista on it , i just found out i can download a windows 7 ultimate ...so im wonderin do u know setp by step how to delet vista and instal windows 7 (it say's i should do clean instalation)

  • I have Windows 7 on my TouchSmart IQ818. Don't worry about the 'clean installation' thing. When you install Windows 7 (build 7100) just click "UPGRADE" then follow the instructions. UPGRADE means your Vista will be just replaced with Win7 without delete all programs and your important files. First thing when you are on Win7 installation, you must click to check compatibility and if they show any software incompatibility with Win7, you must uninstall it before upgrading Win7. Good luck :)

  • OH .. umm whats the name of the song ?? i love it :D

  • Breakbeat Manifesto (house mix) by Plurgid

it's free download from ccMixter because it has the creative commons license.... check description.....

  • i want to get one of those soon but i want to know if it has any significant problems of any sort and how hard/easy is to install Windows 7 on this ??

    cheers

  • uhm it depends on the path you want to take.

if you are doing a clean install, it would REALLY easy.... if you are doing an in-place upgrade from vista, it might take a while and you may get additional instructions about some programs....

in my experience with a clean install, no problems. you could grab the same drivers and software for vista in the HP site for the TX2, but they would probably have a win7 section as soon as win7 out on october 22.

  • question i noticed wen u bring up the virtual keyboard its black why is dat?..... mines is blue

  • Oh, I don't know? It's black ever since I started using it.... So I don't know if why you have a blue one... but I'd be interested in a blue one, too! Not just the black.....

    hehehe

  • Hi there! please check the video response created by victornpb, it covers some stuff I wasn't able to show. and he also pretty much dissolved two of my video's into one. You might want to check it out. :D

  • which is on the touch pack demo...... lol, I thought it was here.... sorry...

  • I would give 5* More Videos of this amazing Notebook!

  • I have a TX2 1020 with windows7 installed and multitouch drivers, but I can't run google earth using multitouth. you can send me the link of virtual earth.

  • the Google earth one has a proprietary (paid) plugin for it to work on multi-touch.. google doesn't seem to have any for free....

for the same exact multi-touch for virtual earth, just dl the regular virtual earth.... then install the multi-touch plugin from

    blogs.

    msdn.

    com/virtualearth3d/archive/2009/03/04/multitouch-in-ve3d

    .aspx

(just fix the link) but I do recommend to use the virtual earth found on the windows 7 touch pack, because it work much more naturally and smoothly.

  • if only i got money for that thing... i used to have iTouch and i'd love to have multitouch in my lappy. now stuck with Compaq 6720s :/ greetings from Poland (Montreal actually but only at vacation ;) )

  • Greetings!

yes, this was quite an expensive investment, but I do think it was worth it. but maybe sometimes soon as multi-touch booms, there would be more cheaper ones. :D

have a nice vacation! take care

  • Touch Pack Demo has been uploaded and is available, please check video responses. Thank you!

  • how did you get the MacBook air Keyboard on ur tx2? thx, i have tx2z dual bootin mac leopard n vista.

  • If you're gonna tell anything about MACs, please stop. I don't want the comments about that to start. especially comparing windows and MAC OS, and Microsoft and Apple. this area is about THIS PRODUCT and not about compring it to others. Sorry if I sound mad (of which I am not), I just don't want those kinds of discussions here.

BTW, that's the revamped on-screen keyboard that has already been existing since vista (and way back).... just added a few touch ups and multi-touch support.

  • I haven't seen the Macbook air personally so I Googled, and found it does look like the macbook air keyboard. BTW, I've seen (personally) other PCs and laptops having those kinds of keyboards, not just the macbook air.

  • how do u add all those functions and the keyboard? iwouldlike to have them in my tx2 too =)that wwould b cool.

  • which functions?? the multi-touch, and etc...?

those are the native functions and features that windows 7 can do, unfortunately, you already have a custom boot loader that might no longer allow you to add an additional OS because you have leopard on a dual boot configuration.

also, I do not recommend having vista and windows 7 at the same time because of the update that windows 7 drivers have to the tx2's digitizer firmware (please refer to previous comments in this video)

  • you might probably want to wait until the release of Windows 7 on October 22 before moving to it because as of now, drivers and support are on a "beta" and testing level. and it "might" break the laptop irreversevely if not done correctly.

  • oh isee. thx! r u sure all those features r 100% to come? the battery life is cool .. what battery cell r u using? how long in power saver mode?

  • yes, i am 100% sure that everything you see in this video WILL be 100% appearing and available on the retail version (although you will still need to install them, but they will be available, for free)

I'm using a 6 cell battery I guess.. I don't really know.... just using the same one that came with it. in powersaver mode, it last around 2-3 hours. and in high performance mode, it would last just around 45 minutes. ofcourse length of time depends on how you use it and what features are used.

  • Whats about games? can I play them only with the touch screen? Or do I need a mouse/ztrack pad? Yeah, clear if I need a keyboard it wont work but some games without it?

  • it depends on the game if it needs touch, such as air hockey and other games. but it WILL and WOULD run REGULAR games (such as Command and Conquer, Spore, The Sims 3, Prototype, etc...) using the keyboard and mouse/trackpad, or a gamepad (if the game supports it)

the touch is just like an "add-on" or bonus feature of it being a laptop if you think about, and it is NOT the only means of using and operating the computer.

  • doesn't seem to be much responsive, is that drivers or the screen fault?

  • I don't know. Because it seems resposive and fine for me. And for everyone elese who has viewed this (since they aren't commenting about that). Which part is less responsive?

I just seems less responsive because I'm doing this all in a rapid succession, and it is the program it self, not the drivers, or the screen, or the machine. Operating the entire operating system in touch (e.g. the right click on the desktop) is by far exactly as responsive as I would do it on a mouse.

  • Also, certain factors makes it less responsive such as Dirty Hands, Dirty Screen, certain electro-static disturbances from the environment, and those are the most common ones.

  • hey, i installed windows 7 and all the drivers from hp website.. but i cant make the M gesture work. (That weird M that you need to with 2 fingers to access the HP MediaSmart Center..)

Do you know how to make it work?

and another question.. do you still have windows vista? xD i deleted it.. and i am not sure if the recovery partition is still useful or i should delete it. What do u think?

    Thks for your help.

  • for the M guesture to work on windows 7 you need the VISTA drivers (which DOES NOT support real multi-touch, only gesture based TWO finger only touch recognition)

and, the MediaSmart softwares, which should ALSO be at the HP site where you got the drivers.

You can get Vista back by booting from your recovery partition by pressing F11 during boot up or by booting from your first Recovery Disc, you did make them, right? If you don't boot from the recovery partition then re-install vista,

  • Then, when vista is back create your recovery discs, ( I do believe you could still make them as long as you still have the recovery partition untouched)

If you have deleted your recovery partition AND have not made your recovery discs, you can order recovery discs from HP and they would only charge shipping (which I do believe is just a few bucks) as long as you provide the serial number of your TX2.

  • The M gesture WILL NOT WORK on windows 7 having the RC or Beta drivers for the digitizer.

especially if you don't have the mediasmart softwares.

  • hi! nice vid....do u have win7 RC, and you have to install special multi touch drivers??? thks =D

  • Please read the previous comments and responses, lots of information has already been posted :D

  • hi, i've recently bought a hp tx2-1020US and after seeing your video, i got sold! how do i install windows 7? do you know of any guide or instructions on the net that could help?

  • this might help

    microsoft.

    com/windows/windows-7/installation-instructions

    .aspx

    or this one

    sevenforums.

    com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a

    .html

    just fix the links

  • could you share your feedback on the laptop noise under different load ? and the battery life and weight ? does it feel light and comfortable to carry around and work with it while standing ?

  • it feels comfortable bringing it around on my side holding it through the extading part of the battery while closed....

now, in tablet mode on my left arm, it feels kinda heavy... but that's probabaly because I'm just not used to it. but the grip onto it is good. although, you might want to set it to a lower power level (e.g. balanced or power saver) if you don;t want it to feel hot. yeah, not just warm, but it does feel hot in high performance mode...

  • bettery life is good, as I said on previous replies to comments on this video. I do recommend looking over the other comments and my replies for more info.

also, in speaking of it being comfortable to tag along, I do think that it needs a while to get used to, but it should be fine, the extending part of the battery that concern the others seems useful in my opinion since I always grip onto it when I hold the laptop. and through that it does feel comfortable.

  • concerning the noise, it isn't loud, but it isnt annoying. it should be subtle enough to tollerate in high performance mode. but in balanced and power saver mode, it makes almost no nose at all. maybe only when you're doing something processor intensive.

Please note that I'm speaking in regards to having Windows 7. If you have vista for it, the fans don't turn off when not needed, so it still makes a quite subtle noise you can still probabaly tollerate.

  • thx zaghy2zy for answer my questions, but i have another question, i want to buy this computer, but i have been reading about this computer and i read that the computer suffer overheating, the screen is fragile and the baterry time is poor, is it true?

  • >>Over hearting, quite possible..... but I define overheating as excessive heating that causes the device to fail. So far, it has never failed, although, it runs hotter compared to other laptops I know... but there's a solution to that... either run below high performance mode (balanced or powersaver) when away, and just use hiperf when at home plugged-in...

HP designed it this was, and I trust they know what they're doing... so far, running in hiperf in extended periods, no problems...

  • the screen is frgile? do you recomend me buy this laptop?

  • no, the screen is not fragile... and if by that you mean easily breaks....

it is actually really tough for almost all semi-rugged use..... there's a hard alloy in the swivel that holds the screen in place very securely.

of course, you wouldn't be like me using it in a semi-rugged environment where you friends always loves to touch.. use, borrow, and try your laptop (really cool laptop that everyone else envy) right? lol and you being a bit careless on how you use it...

  • and if you are like me, then this would still be fine for you!

I'd highly recommend it based on my experience..... it is really durable and tough for almost any kind of use it can encounter...... like for instance, if you have a friend who really likes to act dumb (like one of my friends) and try to swivel the screen in almost every way possible.. and one who keeps on touching the screen and who uses the pen like he is trying to nail the pen into the screen.. then this can survive that...

  • the last question, the Graphics Processor ati radeon 3200 that have the laptop is good?, can i play new games in that laptop? because i'm confused, when i looked about ati radeon 3200 i found regular opinions about this graphic procesor, someones say that maximum ram to video is 250 mb and in the especifications of the computer says until 1982 mb.

  • I don't really know much about the video ram, but all I know i that I can play Red Alert 3 in medium graphics (although defulat is low, but you can freely set to medium),... Sims 3 in medium graphics... Demigod in medium graphics....

those are modern games, and i could probably go to a higher graphics level, but performance would go down but still playable... windows experience index for the gaming graphics is 5.1 (based on windows 7)....

  • thank you very much, your answer was very helpful

  • yep, your welcome..... :D

  • >>screen seems tough enough to withstand my quite careless and semi-rugged use.... unless you intentionally try to break it, it will surely break. but in my semi-rugged use, seems like it can handle it... although i caution you in handling it when twisting it into tablet mode.... but the swivel seems to be made of a hard metal, which you should be able to notice when you have it,..

also, the screen is tough enough to handle light to heavy writting...

  • >>battery time is terrible.. yes it is.....

but that was in my vista days.... in hiperf, battery runs in about 45 minutes.... and about 2 hours in powersaver... and that depends if you use much resouce intensive applications...

now, I have win7.... better lasts longer! about 1.2 hours in hiperf mode... and about 3 -4 hours in powersaver (which still depends on what kind of preograms are you running)

those times are with all default hardware in it... plus a wireless usb mouse...

  • no devices has been turned off or has been disabled or removed...

also, I am just approximating battery times, since I have not done formal testing..... those "UP TO" approximate times are until windows tells an critical battery warning.... the one where it auto hibernates or shutdowns.... from a 100% charge... which includes boot up time....

and yes, you'll be impress by how fast windows 7 boots up especially when restoring from hibernation.... just about 45 seconds vs Vista at 2+minutes.

  • Have you tried the hand writing recognition in word2007 on windows 7? This is a pretty sick looking tablet, but i d need to be able to take notes for school... to make it worth more than just the fun factor ^^ Nice Demo btw.

  • yeah, I'll make one as soon as I can.

I'll post the video as a video reply so check back once in a while

  • thats really the best documentation of the tx2 on uTube!!

    thx for the effort!!!

  • Thank you, :D

I'm really testing both products (TX2 and Win7) just for the hell of it. I just love to test new things out. And help other people if they need help especially on new things like this.

  • thx for answering.

i have another question, the other drivers like audio, wlan,.... works in win7?

  • yep, those works fine, although you will need to install the drivers for the touchsmart buttons (the ones by the side of the lcd)... the HP site has those drivers, just pick the drivers for vista (and make sure to match if it is 32 bit or 64 bit)

And in-case you can't find the drivers, just let windows do it, letit intsll them automatically from the device manger... So far, all devices working normally.... just a few random BSOD due to problems with a driver for a device I don';t know which.

  • it should be much of a problem though, because it doesn't happen everyday.. most likely once a month for me, and I still don't know why... the drivers should be updated once the retail win7 is out so I don't think its much of a problem later on....

I'll try to manually update all drivers today and see if one or a few of them needs to get upadated, I'll post results here later...

don't worry, the BSOD that happen are purely random. and is probably becasue of non-final/stable drivers....

  • Thx for answering!

Does the HP Media-thing work on Win7 (The Software starting with the M-gesture)?

  • I don't really know, because I didn't install it back... apparently, it is a resource hog the computer, so I didn't want to slow down my computer....

the software should work fine, but launching it usng the wavy M guesture might noty work, since the drivers no longer support touch guestures because win7 can directly understand touch interface, unlike Vista...

unless, you install the vista drivers, you will be able to do that (without the nice multi-touch support)....

  • i have a question? the drivers that have the hp tx2 works with win7 or where did yo find the drivers to win7?

  • when you install win7, it will support the pen and touch. but it would only have a single touch input...

to get the multi-touch, you will need to get the drivers from n-trig.... the manufacturer of the digitizer.... since I can't post links, just Google N-Trig to get to their site....

in case you can't get the drivers from them, i'd be happy to upload my copy somewhere and let you download it...

  • please note that the drivers for win7 WILL install an updated firmware to the digitizer. Please consult the n-trig documents about this.

please do read the important information from n-trig if you have time (or if are planning to back to vista at anypoint in time in the future)

The updated firmware is not compatible to the vista drivers, and would break the digitizer... if the digitizer is run with the updated firmware and the vista drivers under Windows Vista...

  • hey do u have any idea when will tx2z offer windows 7 as base OS?thanks for d info.great video by the way!

  • I don't really know.... but probably anything manufactured/distributed after July would contain Win7.

Well, that's just an idea based from the news that Microsoft will be sending Win7 to OEMs by the second half of July...

The win7 release is on October 22 so probably, any machine that will be out from that date will have windows 7.... plus, take note that any QUALIFYING computer purchased after June or July 2009 is entitiled to a free Upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 accdgn to Microsoft...

  • How did u get Windows 7 on it?

I think, it does not expire in June 2010...

  • I got the RC installer from Microsoft's site.. If you want the installer, some of your friends might have it (those enthusiast or geeky ones) or if not, you might be able to find it somewhere online.... of which I don't know where...

Yes, the RC does not expire until June 2010, but a bi-hourly shutdown will start by March 2010..... but by then, I or anyone else would probably have the retail version already.

  • I added new video showing us (me and my brother) playing the Air Hockey game for Windows 7 developed by Identity Mine.

    just check the video responses.

  • One of te best Demos for TX2 with windows7 installed.

    Thank you ..

  • emm.. stupid question..

how much you've got fingers on one hand? Even 4 fingers enough, for millions actions!!

  • I agree, two I guess is enough to operate the machine using multi-touch.

I think the real use of more fingers is for supporting a multi-user environment. (e.g. playing games)

I've found the air hockey game used in a demo for the TouchSmart pc.... and installed on my TX2. it was kinda buggy due to the RC drivers which are still kinda buggy and game being just a preview game, but nonetheless it was entertaining.

  • hey, great video!

i will get this notebook in 2 days, and i have some questions.

does 4 fingers work on vista? or just in windows 7? and.. for more fingers..

is it going to be a software update? or tx2 cant have more than 4/5 fingers?

do u recomend me to update from vista to windows 7?

and.. whats about the keyboard that appeared in 8:20, does it comes with windows 7? or msn? can i have it for vista?

    God bless ya! :>

  • vista only supports 1 finger.. and the software of n-trig detects up to two to detect multi-touch guestures.

If you want to use real multi-touch, you will need windows 7, the on-screen keyboard is the same as the vista one, but the one on windows 7 is updated to accept multi-touch system (e.g. touching two or three or four buttons at the same time) while the vista can only do simgle touch.

  • Hi!

    Really amazing!

Can you tell us what is your tx2 configuration please?

    Thank you!

    ;-)

  • default win7 confuguration (just after installtion). Only installed the drivers provided by n-trig from their website to use the multi-touch. and the programs I use. I did not modify anything in windows or the drivers or any software. (Virtual Earth needs an additiona plugin for the multi-touch support)l

(Please note that the drivers will install an updated firmware to the digitizer. Please read the n-trig release notes for important info about the drivers)

  • Ok, thank you for your advice! ;-)

And what is the exact model of TX2z that you have? Is it the 2.4 Ghz? What is your ram size and Hard drive size?

    Thank you again!

    ;-)

    ** From DxDiag

** trying to post the link to the exact one from the retailer site but can't seem to post comments...... hmmmm

  • the link has been added to the video details... if you want to check which and what parts/accessories and whatever it has when I purchased it, it's there..... lol

can't seem to post links on comments.... even if I devise a way that it doesn't look like a link..... but whatever, just check the video instead... :D

  • After installing win7 RC, my WEI (Windows Experience Index) is 4.2..... after an update with the graphics card, went up to 4.3...

NOTE: those are in high performance mode, default power configuration... :D I usually run in HiPerf, since I am usually plugged-in somewhere.. so yeah...

battery life has been longer by about 50% compared to when I still had vista.... I used to have about 45 minutes HiPerf in Vista, now I can run about 1.2 hours in HiPerf in Win7.....

  • Thank you very much!

    ;-)

  • your welcome anytime, :D

  • MUY BUENA MAQUINA
