  • I put about 5000 miles on the tires before evaluating. During the 5000 miles, I saw no statistical difference with the Continental Contact 4x4s that were OEM in terms of gas mileage. During the 5000 miles, I had long and short trips as well. Any fuel economy comparison must keep as consistent as possible weather - temperature and wind conditions. Cold weather will severely hamper fuel economy as well as even a head-wind. I tried to statistically eliminate all variables in my comparison.

  • Fuel economy on a tire with low rolling resistance can only be measured with extended distance driving. I bought mine for a 2008 CRV and noticed when taking the same trip to my daughter's house some 800 miles away the prior tires I got 29.5 MPG after the entire install and the same trip I got average for trip 31.8 MPG.The tire is the only change made with the vehicle for I use cruse control most of the way.
