you notice less and less middle class here.. those can leave, already leave.. those staying behind, either higher income class or too poor to do anything...
hi guys..i'd really love to leave this country...i've applied for jobs overseas with the intend to migrate...but unfortunately all my applications are unsuccesful...care to help??
That's because other countries protect their citizens' job - unlike the pap govt - and will only allow employers to hire a foreigner if a qualified citizen/PR cannot be found (and they do not anyhow give out PR, unlike sg).
So, you have to emigrate FIRST before finding a job, not the other way round. Australia, Canada, UK all offer point system. For usa, studying there 1st helps. See this video for relevant URL to their embassies:
Start by reading the point system of the various countries, as elaborated on their immigration dept's webite.
Apply for PR after considering which country is best for you.
PR takes time! OZ takes abt 1 yr. Canada has a 4 year application queue! Save money meanwhile.
Once your PR is approved, you do not need to move over immediately, but can search for a job while still working in sg. But because you are PR, your job search will be much more likely to succeed.
Hey , there are visitor's visas in countries like OZ and NZ or even in Eurozone where you can visit and find jobs at the same time. Check their Immigration Law. Unless you want everything to be spoon fed. Go for basic back packing and you will find jobs. Many did like myself
Please emigrate from Singapore, there are people waiting who will take your place. Do not try to change anything in Singapore, just leave , the World is big!
Unfortunately for you, tomas1888, your master doesn't seem to think that those people whom he enticed with free scholarships to come to take our place are as good as us! Which is why he flew hawkers to New York and London and Sydney to beg Singaporeans who have emigrated to come back to Singapore.
So, oops, you have carried balls the wrong way. LOL
i hate to migrate but out of no choice will plan in future, singapore, a nice sunny island had polluted by the evil minded rulers. i love singapore. and wendy, thanks for all ur great video. :)
yes bro i feel u. get out of singapore or stay behind & fight for democracy with others like Dr Chee. just dun waste ur life away by being just another singaporean doing nothing. cheers
Not much of a Homeland. Laws, especially those which affect personal freedom and disrespect Self Determinism, must never be roundly imposed on all citizens. That is what a Dictatorship does - impose.
Mandatory National Service (aka Brainwashing) and bans on Bubble Gum are examples of a Dictatorship. Nobody likes Dictators or living in a Dictatorship. Nepotism compounds the problem.
The guys at the UN should really speak up for the sake of disenfranchised (majority)
There's ONLY reason for migration - Singapore belongs to citizens and Singaporeans but THIS IS NO MORE THE TRUTH, Singapore belongs to the Lee Family...and they are doing to the country whatever suit them !!!
Singapore cease being a country/republic when it became the Kingdom of Lee !!!
howkemon6559, actually you should leave precisely because your kids r in pri sch, 'cos you won't want them to be treated like digits to be streamed into various vocations, and given a robotic "education". If you go overseas, your kids can go with you and have a happier school life there. Home schooling is an option too. Once you become a citizen overseas, you can get back your CPF. Good luck!
It comes down to a matter of belongingness.. CSJ was right.
Why people are running away in a nutshell:
If you give a person a house made of marble and jewels, he will still run when it crumbles.
But if he builds a house out of stick and stones by himself, he will protect it from the strongest of storms.
Let us be part of nation building (letting us have our say on policies passed is a good start...) and I bet Singaporeans will be less willing to immigrate.
That everyone who can afford it, should leave Singapore?
Have you even paused to consider the ramifications of such actions? Such as, perhaps, causing the economy to fail, destabilizing the country and dooming the MAJORITY of the population who weren't as fortunate as you were to afford emigration?
Really, tell me why you want political freedom so much, and why you think PAP's defeat will change Singapore for the better.
the ramification is gd: pap will have to give in,and start implementing gd policies to prevent more citizens from leaving. That's gd for the country!
Or pap can import ft to replace sg and the 66.6% sinkies can support its policy. This will cause sg's downfall, but faults lies with pap/sinkies, not those who leave.
Every human loves freedom. It's innate. r u not human? U dont want to be able to speak, read, hear truth without fear of being jailed? I cant ans your strange qn.
PAP's defeat = 2 party system with check and balance. This is obviously gd 4 sg. I dont want to insult ur intelligence by elaborating what is obvious.
I just became a proud father 6 months ago to a wonderful boy! And now I'm making plans to leave Singapore.
Firstly, why should I even let my son serve NS when all the good jobs go to foreigners?
Secondly, I want to live in a country where I'm allowed to vote in elections.
Also, I want to live in a country where I have freedom of speech... The list goes on. But thanks Wendy, your video has spurred me even more to leave this place.
Leaving a country when it is undemocratic and coming back when it is, is pretty common. Taiwan for eg saw an exodus of intellects in the 1970s when it was under martial law. Now that taiwan has opened up, these pple come back.
PAP should have democratise sg to stem emigration flow - it knew the reasons via the police clearance form. But instead, it prefers to import ft to replace singaporeans. that's outrageous.

yah, wong kan seng was stating half-truth when he said they have no *exact* idea how many singaporeans are leaving without giving up citizenship. They have an *almost* exact idea - not just the names of those who applied overseas PR, but also their educational level, salaries, family members' particulars and even reasons for leaving! - all required in CNCC.
The stats look bad 4 pap - 1000/yr refers only to those who gave up citizenship. Many more than that take up PR overseas each yr.
u r clearly not an elite. u therefore will suffer under pap's system. Yet, u support a regime's which works very much against u. I think that makes u a loser :)
Well WendyNeo what do you really know about me? What makes you so sure about my status?
But, from the way you try to talk down on others in terms of income and profession I sure as hell know you are not an elite. You can pretend but you are not. You are just another useless low-class underbelly of society.
your status is either an elite or not. If u are, u care not abt those who are suffering as non-elites. That makes u a loser (btw, u used that term on me 1st). If u are not, u are already a sufferer, but support those who makes u suffer. Equally a loser.
I did not talk to anyone abt income or profession, let alone "talk down". Stop your wild accusation! Income/profession arn't impt outside sg, but pap's elitist policy make them impt in sg. so they work against non-elite i.e u!
Thanks for suggestion, but erm, I don't quite agree that English is "more relevant" or "understandable". Back in 1970s kampong days, our grandparents were illiterate and yet able to learn enough of each other's language to converse in Malay /Dialect /Tamil. They respected diversity. What more today! We shld learn to appreciate music of other languages as relevant, instead of throwing away French, Italian,Jap, Korean.. Chinese music, and all just sing in 1 "relevant" lang :)
well if u want to convert more s'poreans to your way of thinking, do you expect the indians/malays/eurasians/younger generation to jump over a high wall and learn mandarin and then try to watch? nope. and it's no longer the 1970s.
you have to make it relevant for them if you want to win them to your way of thinking. but if that's not your intention, then cheers.
royutube, I expect them to watch the video (the meat) and enjoy the music, without thinking that a song in a language that they do not understand is irrelevant. After all, that's what I do when I watch some Tamil/malay tv show, or watch some youtube videos in French or Spanish. I always manage to get the meat (the video). Not once did I regard Tamil or Malay or French or Spanish as irrelevant.
btw, electoral speeches are in many languages too. I think they are all relevant and effective.
Works much against me? Not really. I just live my life the way I want in this island-country, and almost all the time it really is without any government intervention so I don't know what you people are talking about.
Only losers and traitors talk badly about their leaders and quit. Um, that is you.
It doesnt work much against u 'cos u r young and don't have to bother abt:
- retrenchment at 40
- inability to withdraw cpf at 55
- working till death at 80
And u r not aware of things happening outside your age grp, since u r a toad in a well.
Only patriots speak out against the wrongs committed by leaders! They either never leave (Chee, JB) or even after leaving, still care and speak up (Gopalan Nair). Losers/traitors i.e. you, don't care, so long as i r not affected.
SeventhSun, we Singaporeans totally agree with you. Thus the PAP 82 millionaire care takers prefer:
'hike' for 'increase'
'national service' for 'compulsory conscription'
'national education' for 'citizen behavior modification'
'minister mentor' for 'despot'
I'm sure my countries caretakers would be very upset I used the word 'propaganda' to describe their latest NDP MTV. Perhaps, 'plagiarism' is more politically correct?
It is not harsh to call a spade a spade. U do not think it is propaganda, because u have not been exposed to the truth yet e.g. declassified doc from london on what lky did. (u can read it on sdp's website). Start your anti-propaganda edu now with my video:
