My friend went to Minneapolis a while back and while there, she got the iPhone not realizing she wouldn't have ATT coverage when she'd get back to North Dakota. But she got back and the phone still worked beautifully (sends, recieves calls, texts just fine) On the map of the ATT coverage, no part of North Dakota is even highlighted for coverage. Yet my friend still has great service?? Is Verizon trying to make ATT look bad by making the map coverage smaller than it is or what? Any comments?

I think you're missing the point. 3G is what they're talking about, not voice and basic data. You can send and receive texts anywhere you have any kind of coverage, but you wont get fast data speeds if there is no 3G coverage, which is what they're saying here. The map is pretty accurate, check AT&T's site.

AT&T is lucky Verizon doesn't publish dropped calls and degraded service maps. I have an original iPhone, and I totally identify with the commercial.

It's not the wireless coverage, it's the 1992 vintage backhaul network. AT&T is using wireless and wireline data services to "tick tock" (ala Intel) infrastructure upgrades, which is why they want to lock everyone into a 2 year contract.

They need to get another antitrust kick in the balls!

My best friend switched from Verizon to at&t for the sole purpose of getting an iPhone and while he loves the phone itself, he despises at&t's service with a passion. It's downright AWFUL. From what I understand, this is a pretty common dilema. I left T-Mobile for VZW and have been a customer for five, going on six years and I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever.

I get dropped calls all the time and I miss Verizon, but the iPhone is so useful for what I do. I hope AT&T is embarrassed with these commercials and tries to expand their network! :D

Not true. All you have to do is go on AT&T's website and it looks the same. AT&T did have the 3G coverage picture all by itself, but once these ads by Verizon appeared, they magically vanished from their site so you have to zoom in on the coverage on AT&T's website to see the 3G areas. If AT&T's maps are wrong, then that is their own fault. For easy viewing, select "Voice" then "show 3G coverage."

Funny Commercial that even I can laugh at. I LOVE my iphone. I had Verizon and switched to AT&T to get an iphone. After two years I can truly say it was a great decision. I have about the same service with AT&T that I had with Verizon. I never have drop calls here in Sacramento...nor do any of my friends with iphones. Competition is great but quit slamming Apple/Microsoft/AT&T/Verizon. They all have merits...I synch my iphone with Windows 7/itunes. So may "Experts" bitching...

Oooo no they didn't! That was funny tho. Minus the 3G coverage the iPhone is a superior phone. AT&T's GSM network allows simultaneous voice and data connections. Meaning you can use your apps while you're on a call. Now if only Verizon was a GSM network instead of a CDMA network.

iphone has a lower resolution camera than the Droid, no open development, cant run widgets, and no physical keypad. Not sure I call that superior. Also, with LTE rolling out from Verizon next year.... CDMA vs GSM may not be as big an issue.
