Can this play Battlefield 3 on at least 1280 x 720, Low settings, at 30-40 avg FPS? XPS line was originally designed for the cost efficient media enthusiast, that including high end games. Would be great to show proof of performance in these vids! Looks like a very nice, sleak laptop design nonetheless.
Instead of an integrated slot-load dvd drive, make it removable so customers can get the 256GB solid-state drive and add a 500GB 7200rpm drive. Fix that and give the option for an anti-glare screen, and you've got the world's most perfect laptop.
i would like to see dell come out with an ultra book. Something extremely thin and powerful like some of the other competitors. I have an inspiron 15r WHICH IS FABULOUS! it absolutley has never let me down. But i want a much thinner looking laptop that delivers like the Asus ultrabook
Just got a month ago and I must admit its a nice laptop however the Nvidia 520m isn't the best graphics card for playing games in 1080p. Every game and program I use works perfectly from music editing to video editing however hooking up to a 1080P monitor with games lags pretty bad in the high settings. Its better then the Intel HD 3000 but I still feel like my old laptop ran the games better with my screen. If I had known this I would have opted out for the 15z with the slightly better card
@DellVlog I know its a bit early since it just barely came out last month, but what are we going to do if the battery goes bad? I think that's the main problem for everyone that is thinking about buying a laptop and that was the main thing I was worried about.
How about a hybrid laptop between the Chubby XPS and the thin XPS Z? I'm still using my XPS m1330, and I think it's time to upgrade. I want something not too bulky, but not too thin (for better cooling). How about that when Ivy Bridge comes out along with the new Kepler GPUs? Surprise me Dell!
@MinhsMenu Depends on what games you're playing. Most likely for the games you'll be playing, yes. If it's a game like Crysis I'm positive it'll run without lag at minimum settings. 6GB of ram and a 2nd Gen Intel CORE I5 are the specs of the cheapest 14z. That's fast.
I have to be completely honest, I prefer ATI graphics over Nvidia completely, but this laptop was just so nice and its so hard finding a laptop like this with ATI graphics instead of Nvidia, so I ordered it. I hope Dell doesnt let me down on build quality, the only thing that I am worried about is whats going to happen with the battery later on. I guess I will worry about that when the time happens.
I too am interested in this product. It's great to see Dell supporting optical drives on their slim range. It's THE feature that puts me offer other ultrabooks. I don't use it often but I definitely read/write DVDs even to need one.
Designed with mobile professionals in mind??? This is not a Latitude. It is an XPS from the CONSUMER product line. Remove the chrome trim from around the base (which is constantly failing on the 15z), put better quality speakers on it, increase the resolution & backlight options (1366x768 WLED is the best you could do? really?) & add options for bluray, tv tuner & widi. THEN I'll buy one for my daughter for college.
When is the release date?!!!!!! My only concern, which is the same concern that stopped me from getting the 15z is the temps. How is the cooling system on the XPS 14z? And yes, it should have an anti-glare screen as electrofreak2k7 pointed out
Dear Dell, Professionals want an anti-glare screen. No professional laptop should NOT have an anti-glare screen offered. I'm honestly sold on this laptop EXCEPT for that. Add that as an option, and I may be your next customer. Thanks. Love, electrofreak2k7
just perfect!! was looking for a review of a dell 14z, now if you could add this video along the product on your site, and open a shop in Romania, dell could make a lot more money!! we are literally being raped here(WITHOUT LUBE!!), a $600 costs $900-1,000, most are forced to buy asus or acer -- YUK!
I hope you guys will make more videos like this, short and straight to the point!!
Is there any way I can use the other functions for the F1 - F12 keys.. Like controlling the sound, controlling the sound, etc.?

But will it blend?

The only thing I am missing on this laptop is graphical power. I would gladly pay +100 euro just to get some more power (like 525M or even 540m).
That's what's keeping me from buying one right away. Now I'm just waiting for new releases this spring =/

P.S. one more thing, DUMP AMD's graphic cards, those are useless, I understand you guys get a very good deal, but customers have issues with them!!
