mostly with right hand - pinky and ring finger, but some muting takes place in left hand as well

I got my wifes guitar chord book the note wold be then D F# C A ? is that right ?
Yes, D F# A C actually,
with the C as the 7th (diminished) tone
But in a MAJOR7 chord, isn't the 7 a C#?
Isn't there a difference between a D7 and a Dmajor7?
In THIS case it must be a C as 7th..
