I have this tv but i'm using it as a monitor. The only thing I don't like about it is the vertical viewing angel. I have to put something under the monitor for better viewing. :( Not sure if you guys are having the same issue
Ahh...I'm having a really tough decision deciding which monitor to get. On the one hand this monitor has a built-in HDTV tuner which is wicked. But I could get a cheaper Asus 21.5" with better quality (generally, according to cnet reviews). Then there's all the acer 1080p monitors...
SO MANY CHOICES!
How much do you think would be the least I could get this one for?
hi, i have the exact same model as this and when i love to go on my pc/and xbox 360 on it. But.... When i load up my 360 and have the channe on ext : game mode it seems to be in need of slight tuning but you can't have that option on that channel, how have yo got the picture so good on that because i just can't play with the lines i am getting even though when im on pc mode its fine and just a bit squeezed up but i managed to fix that so its only getting the gaming on the xbox 360 i need help in
Hey, i have the same monitor as you, hooked on a ps3, but the image is just terrible, like it´s not even in 1080p, is more like 576p .....bad textures on games.....i dont understand, what im i doing wrong ?
Hey, what picture settings do you have your monitor on? I have this monitor and when I first set it up it looked shit. So I used the TV remote and put it onto Movie and changed a few things and it still doesn't look right.
Any chance you could tell me what settings your's are?
Well the reason the TV probably looks like shit is because its native resolution is 1920x1200 and your viewing a 640x480 picture in full screen. Watching cartoons looks ok like family guy but unless you have HD it cant really look any better.
Yea. It's the actual picture settings on the TV. If I go into the menu, and then picture settings, it was originally on Dynamic, which looked awful. Changed it to Movie, and it's alot better but still not perfect.
Hard to describe. The picture just didn't look good. There was too much sharpness, contrast, etc. I've altered it so it looks alot better, I'm just trying to find the best settings, etc.

You honestly have no idea what you're talking about. And by the way, this monitor is not full 1080p HD. Full 1080p is 1980x1020. This monitor is only 1680x1050. So you probably don't notice it, but the PS3 is actually switching to 720p or as BeaNzadas mentioned, it looks more like 576p. Which is actually pretty accurate. So yeah, levi, all your credibility went out the window with this video.
you're right, i don't. i goofed up. i do owe you an apology, so im sorry.
I've been reading up on HD resolutions the past few weeks and forgot that the actual full 1080p HD output is 1920x1080. So yes, this monitor supports it if you don't mind black bars on the top and bottoms of the screen.
You're right Rogue, this monitor isn't 1980 by 1020, it's actually 1920 by 1200 which is Even better, Making it Full 1080P instead of 1080 Interlaced like you didnt even know how to define.
Hehe. You're wrong here because many 1920x1080 monitors/HDTVs display full 1080p video just fine, in which case they produce crisper video than 1920x1200 resolutions since those have to distort the image a bit to fill the screen OR they implement bars on the top and bottom of the screen to make it a native full 1080p resolution.
While you are correct that not all 1920x1080 monitors are able to display FULL 1080p, that IS the resolution for full 1080p.
@RogueFighter15 Most 1920x1200 monitors have the ability to turn off the scaler so 1920x1080 would just be centered in the screen. That would mean a black bar of 60 pixels above and below the image, but there would be no distortion of any kind. It will appear as crisp as native 1080p because its just centering the image onto a larger panel.
@RogueFighter15 Oh I didnt see where you pointed that out. Just seemed to sound like you were implying it was being stretched. Ok well then its all good.
When you see the bars, what resolution was it, 1920 x 1200? If you set it to 1080p does it cover whole screen? Do you have to set the resolution every time you change inputs? Thanks.
Yes you can rotate and tilt, but no adjust up or down. And if you have a 60Hz monitor you will only be able to see up to 60FPS. You will get more but anything over 60 will be wasted.
you have to turn up the volume of the built in speakers to get sound, you can also use the headphone jack with external speakers/headphones for sound as well.
It has built in speakers cuz it is also a tv i ordered the T220 (not HD version) without speakers and hdmi/dbt/tv/antenna plug/component. I can't wait :D
Is this a DC rate of 20,000 or something!? And is it the same as 10,000 rate!? Because I'm seriously confused. I seee both t260 and t240 and they both say 10,000. Then again, t260 does say 20,000 wtf. But saids its 10,000 in the description. !?
you're probably mixed up between the 2 different models, theres a HD version and a standard version, the HD version (Like the one in this video(T240HD)) is 10,000:1 and the standard one is 20,000:1. This monitor has many inputs such as vga, dvi, 2 HDMI, optical, internal speakers, and this is also a HDTV so it has a antenna coaxle (ATSC)
Sick is just another way of saying it's AWESOME. This is my favorite monitor by far. I upgraded from a 22" 720P and this 1080P makes a world of a difference on Blu-Ray. :)
Do you know how much input lag this monitor has? Have you played any fast pc games on it and noticed any delay between the action you take and the onscreen response? For example when playing a shooter or racing game.
is that meant negative or positive , cuz it s just as fast as 2ms , ur eyes wont notice the 3ms difference , and like the guy says it runs smooth with no input lag no ghosting nothing , and it s sharp as a motherfucker , and the brightness is insane , when i turned it on first time i put it down to half the brightness cuz it s just crazy !
dude , i just got my t240hd this week , and it looks so good , ppl said bs like u wont notice any difference with full hd using a 24 inch , whast a bs it is a total difference compared to my older 22 inch on 1680-1050 , and i have no inputlag , i checked it cuz i could still return it , with forza 2 , gears of war 3 , fallout , gta 4 , no inputlag !
yup gears 3 idk what ppl are so exited about with gears 2 , gears 3 is much much better , i picked it up at the store while i was using my time machine lol
Thank you for demonstrating the T240HD. I'd been looking for a 2nd HDTV (actually a 40"), but I might get this one for my bedroom (given the cost and how it looks). The monitor test helped with my decision. Thanks!
I have some questions for you cause i want to buy this monitor.
1st)Do you have any problems when playing any ps3 games?Because ps3 only supports 16:9 will the games display streched or with issues? At least,is there an option to make them look good
2nd)Did you have any problems with any blu ray movies?
3rd)does this monitor have 1:1 pixel mapping(something very useful for 16:9 aspect)?
Finally do ou recommned this monitor tv for ps3 gaming or should i go for an hdtv?
No probs with blu ray and yes it has 1:1 pixel mapping so it puts bars on the screen instead of stretching. If your just going to use this as a TV and for PS3, I would just get an HDTV. If your going to use it as a monitor too, Id get this.
I was sceptical at first about buying this monitor but after seeing your videos(especially this one whre MGS4 displayed amazing and properly) i as sure i will get it.
man i bought this monitor yesterday wat do u prefer to use the dvi cable or the normal cable for computer?? there are 2 cables here the white and the blue wat is much better to use??? thnks......
dude the probl;em is if i use the dvi cable the pictures is got smaller it is normal bcoz its wide screen??? what is the best resolution for this if i used dvi cable??? bcoz i used the blue cable in my resolution is 1280 by 800
looks like you have a little bit of backlight bleeding through on the bottom. And some on the left side. I really want this one or the new asus 24" but I don't want any bleeding.
I have an older samsung 20" wide syncmaster 205BW. I absolutely love it, but it's time to upgrade to better contrast ratios. Mine right now has absolutely no bleeding.
I saw on newegg people have been commenting on slight bleeding issues with the T240HD like I see yours has.
This think looks GREAT hooked up to a computer with the SUB D cable. It looks better than my Sceptre 20" gaming monitor. No blurring, or anything playing Battlefield 2. I did not think it would look half that good. It is SO much bigger than a 20" monitor.
I'm hopefully getting this on the 31st December, What are the speakers like? and do Blu Ray movies work fine? Ill be using it with my PS3 like you are, with HDMI, anythings I should know?
and my q to levi(again sorry) alot of ppl say it s a bad monitor for gaming (cuz of brightness bs and colour bs!?) is this true cuz i just ordered one and what i read on the samsung site is that it s a monitor/tv developed especially for dvd and gaming so how is this possible
ok tx dude , i ve ordered this one too the t240 hd but do u have to connect the tv tuner thats build in it to a tv connection (like a normal tv)or does it work without that allready ?
hmm well thats gonna be a problem u see cuz i dont think our tv connection will be able to be hooked into the screen to be honest we have these conenctions that are for normal tvs not lcd or hd tv s i think i m not sure but i think
yea but like we have our real tv connection downstairs and then we pulled a line to upstairs to me and my sisters room wich is a total different connection but now that i use my braincells lol i understand how it works i have to get a regular coax cable put it in that connection and put the end of the coax cable in the tv pretty easy yes now the only thing i hope it that the connection we pulled to my room is good enough cuz on a normal tv it s pretty crappy
actually it's 16:10, with a resolution of 1920x1200, which is why there are small black borders on top & bottom when using the "Just Scan" setting on 1080p content. It can display 1080p natively though which is the most important part!
I never said you couldn't. The original question was if the screen itself was 16:9, which it isn't, it's 16:10 like nearly all widescreen monitors. And like all monitors it can display 16:9 content with small black borders at the top & bottom.
ok so what version should u recommend me if i m gonna use it only for my xbox 360 with vga connection not hdmi cuz i dont have hdmi on my xbox 360 the t240hd or the t240?
im not really sure i understand. your trying to hook your xbox 360 to your t240 via hdmi. then your trying to hook the sound up to some other speakers vita digital. your going to have to buy a special cable then an adapter.
The 360 has hdmi and AV output. on the AV cable is a digital optical out.
So in order to get sound from my pc speakers i have to hook up an optical cable between the AV cable ( only used for sound in this case ) and then the other end of the cable into an optical in on my pc.
Then the computer simply functions as an amplifier.
No no no. That's a really complicated way of going about it and odds are it probably won't work if you don't have a relatively nice/new soundcard. Just plug your computer speakers straight into the screen (headphone jack will work or the audio passthrough out.
Hey, I also own this monitor and was wondering if you get like jagged pixels (looks like it's not smooth) around lettering and edges, I know I notice it in games like Motor Storm.
Maybe because you have it on wide or full screen mode. set it to the 16:9 mode or w/e where theres bars and try it. plus the letters may not be smooth anyway. i mean you might be sitting too close. i notice it but if you move like 5 ft away its pretty sharp
Calm down you fuckhole, it was a weekend sale at BestBuy (Canada). You're just an asshole that thinks he's so smart and looks at these monitors everyday but doesn't get it cuz he's a bum that lives in his moms basement. DICKHEAD.
I WOULD buy this except this model isnt available in Canada yet you dumbass. You can get it off 2? online sites in Canada for ~$530. Im not smart, im just not a complete fucktard like you. The 22 inch model is ~350 /quit life faggot
I have this tv but i'm using it as a monitor. The only thing I don't like about it is the vertical viewing angel. I have to put something under the monitor for better viewing. :( Not sure if you guys are having the same issue

Can you tell me how big the black bars are when u are viewing ps3 in native 1080p? is it big enough to detract from the quality?

logic would dictate that the black bars would be 1200(height) - 1080(1080p res height) / 2 bars = 60 pixels each.

levi094 3 years ago
ok thank u so much dude..takecare always
FREETOFLY173 3 years ago
looks like you have a little bit of backlight bleeding through on the bottom. And some on the left side. I really want this one or the new asus 24" but I don't want any bleeding.
davidtl9999 3 years ago
yea i mean theres a little bit. but you can only tell when the picture is black
levi094 3 years ago
I have an older samsung 20" wide syncmaster 205BW. I absolutely love it, but it's time to upgrade to better contrast ratios. Mine right now has absolutely no bleeding.
I saw on newegg people have been commenting on slight bleeding issues with the T240HD like I see yours has.
davidtl9999 3 years ago
is the 26 inch version got better reselution then the 24 or the 22
UKxDrUmMeRxUK 3 years ago
26" has the same resolution as the 24". The 22" is 1680x1050.
levi094 3 years ago
how is 720p?
collegavanjevader 3 years ago
Not bad.
levi094 3 years ago
Yup, its great :) But native resolution is always the best;)

This think looks GREAT hooked up to a computer with the SUB D cable. It looks better than my Sceptre 20" gaming monitor. No blurring, or anything playing Battlefield 2. I did not think it would look half that good. It is SO much bigger than a 20" monitor.

Hey so this is a lcd tv does that mean it has a ariel socket so i can play my nintendo 64 and does it have scart so i can play my original xbox on it
game0nerd0gypsy 3 years ago
what is an ARIEL socket? It has HDMI, SUB-D (DVI), VGA, cable tv, and component IN.
taofledermaus 3 years ago
He meant Aerial , as in antenna cable. The Cable TV input is also good for regular over the air broadcast.

I'm hopefully getting this on the 31st December, What are the speakers like? and do Blu Ray movies work fine? Ill be using it with my PS3 like you are, with HDMI, anythings I should know?
RatchetsFlamingTail 3 years ago
Speakers are pretty good for little 5w speakers. Blurays look good, and I cant think of anything you should know. its really easy to setup.
levi094 3 years ago
im geting the 20 inch one
is the size the only diference?
Nebcheese1 3 years ago
It looks like the only difference is the resolution.
levi094 3 years ago
and my q to levi(again sorry) alot of ppl say it s a bad monitor for gaming (cuz of brightness bs and colour bs!?) is this true cuz i just ordered one and what i read on the samsung site is that it s a monitor/tv developed especially for dvd and gaming so how is this possible
creationofsociety 3 years ago
its got a 5ms response. color is great.
levi094 3 years ago
ok tx dude , i ve ordered this one too the t240 hd but do u have to connect the tv tuner thats build in it to a tv connection (like a normal tv)or does it work without that allready ?
creationofsociety 3 years ago
its got a coax connection in the back. just hook the cable from the wall to the back of the monitor and search for channels.
levi094 3 years ago
hmm well thats gonna be a problem u see cuz i dont think our tv connection will be able to be hooked into the screen to be honest we have these conenctions that are for normal tvs not lcd or hd tv s i think i m not sure but i think
creationofsociety 3 years ago
you dont need anything special. just a coax cable. google what it looks like. its what normal tvs use.
levi094 3 years ago
ok thx alot man cuz i m a newby when it comes to all those connections and cables and shit
creationofsociety 3 years ago
yea its nothing fancy. if you have the cable to connect cable to a normal tv then your ok.
levi094 3 years ago
yea but like we have our real tv connection downstairs and then we pulled a line to upstairs to me and my sisters room wich is a total different connection but now that i use my braincells lol i understand how it works i have to get a regular coax cable put it in that connection and put the end of the coax cable in the tv pretty easy yes now the only thing i hope it that the connection we pulled to my room is good enough cuz on a normal tv it s pretty crappy
creationofsociety 3 years ago
ok am buying this!

LOONi07 3 years ago
Hey,
Is the display 16:9??
I might consider buying a 26in..
LOONi07 3 years ago
Yea it is.
levi094 3 years ago
actually it's 16:10, with a resolution of 1920x1200, which is why there are small black borders on top & bottom when using the "Just Scan" setting on 1080p content. It can display 1080p natively though which is the most important part!
xythen052 3 years ago
ur wrong on that one mate u can switch between 16:9 and 16:10
creationofsociety 3 years ago
I never said you couldn't. The original question was if the screen itself was 16:9, which it isn't, it's 16:10 like nearly all widescreen monitors. And like all monitors it can display 16:9 content with small black borders at the top & bottom.
xythen052 3 years ago
well thats just the thing if i m correct u will have that on the regular t240 and not with the t240 hd
creationofsociety 3 years ago
check the specs on Samsung's site, it's a 1920x1200 panel (16:10) not a 1920x1080 one (16:9)
xythen052 3 years ago
ok so what version should u recommend me if i m gonna use it only for my xbox 360 with vga connection not hdmi cuz i dont have hdmi on my xbox 360 the t240hd or the t240?
creationofsociety 3 years ago
You can see the TV in here?
and you can see the PS3 in Full HD (1080p)
I'm thinking to buy this Monitor
Thanks for your answers

How do you get the sound to the speakers?
I have the T240 ( no HD ) with the 360 connected to it with HDMI.
Then I want to use my computer speakers for sound but I haven't got a clue where to start.
The T240 has Digital/Stereo Audio out support for HDMI but not sure what kind of cable and soundcard my computer needs.\
Any help is apreciated.
gazeebo88 3 years ago
im not really sure i understand. your trying to hook your xbox 360 to your t240 via hdmi. then your trying to hook the sound up to some other speakers vita digital. your going to have to buy a special cable then an adapter.
levi094 3 years ago
I think I already figured it out.
The 360 has hdmi and AV output. on the AV cable is a digital optical out.
So in order to get sound from my pc speakers i have to hook up an optical cable between the AV cable ( only used for sound in this case ) and then the other end of the cable into an optical in on my pc.
Then the computer simply functions as an amplifier.
gazeebo88 3 years ago
No no no. That's a really complicated way of going about it and odds are it probably won't work if you don't have a relatively nice/new soundcard. Just plug your computer speakers straight into the screen (headphone jack will work or the audio passthrough out.

nice but not the top

Hey, I also own this monitor and was wondering if you get like jagged pixels (looks like it's not smooth) around lettering and edges, I know I notice it in games like Motor Storm.
PwnageBoys 3 years ago
Maybe because you have it on wide or full screen mode. set it to the 16:9 mode or w/e where theres bars and try it. plus the letters may not be smooth anyway. i mean you might be sitting too close. i notice it but if you move like 5 ft away its pretty sharp
levi094 3 years ago
u got good price...in best buy, $549....
puffy98 3 years ago
best buy rips you off. you can get it for 500 on newegg. i got mine on sale for 450
levi094 3 years ago

RKhatkar 3 years ago
