In every other westernised nation, there is universal healthcare.
The healthcare costs (per capita, government, private, corporate and business) COMBINED are between one third and one half what the US pays per capita, and we here in the rest of the world HAVE LONGER LIFE EXPECTANCY AND LOWER INFANT MORTALITY.
The US has a healthcare system number 37 in the world nearly on par with communist cuba, who pay one tenth the amount the US pays per capita.
@dangerouslytalented I live outside the US! I live in Denmark. Now have you got an idea what it is to live outside of Australia? Have you ever visited the US?
@eric5335 Medical achievements are coming from ALL OVER THE PLACE. America, Japan, Europe, even here in Australia, we came up with the bionic ear.Did you know that in America they spend more on LOBBYING AND more on advertising and PR than they do on actual research?
@eric5335 America is spending three times as much per capita on healthcare than most nations that have government sponsored/ subsidised/ run healthcare, despite the fact that not everybody has health insurance. That means that people who are ACTUALLY getting health care are spending far more than three times. With this much being spent, one would expect far MORE in the sphere of medical breakthroughs than what they are achieving at the moment, but they are spending more on advertising instead.
I know how to save money on healthcare. Let the president, the members of congress and anyone else elected to public office who is worth in excess of $250,000 pay for their own damn healthcare! Most of these politicians are filthy rich. Taxpayers pay for their healthcare while we can't afford to pay for our own! Seems fair to me! While we're at it, eliminate their pensions too!
@ ismdism wars are something different and if we lose a war especially against an attack on us we will no longer have a country to even be thinking about healthcare ... Stay on topic please.
O yea I love paying some of the highest prices for health care to cover less people its awesome. Don't get me wrong this bill kind of sucked its better than what we have, but sucks in comparison of what we could have. It just annoys me that people view national health care thing as though the country will end, but when it comes to fighting wars we don't take any time to think.
ok who every doesn not want unviersal health care is a dumbass, first off obama just wants everyone to not have to worry about anyone not haveing health insurance because of all of the insurance companys going under
im sick of people calling obamas health care position socialist, even though i completely disagree with parts of it, there is nothing SOCIALIST about wanting EVERYONE to be able to have access to even just the most basic health care dont want a public option? then dont take it, keep the private insurance you have ,that may be over simplified granted. but a SOCIALIST health care plan would shut down all private practices, hospitals and insurance companies in lieu of purely state facilities.think
See what happens when they have a public option "competing" with private insurance when the govt regulates health services, and see how long we have a choice.
take it elsewhere delilah " dont get into a political argument with me or you will lose" yeah i just wrote you off at that.. very easy to lose an argument with a brick wall XD you end up losing just because you took the time to try, so i will not waste my time, go enjoy your feed from the farmer you sheep bahhhhhhhhhh

We're talking about a very real possibility with even examples right over in Europe. And now you're going to deny all the facts against this healthcare bill?
Funny how you people always resort to personal attacks when you lost your argument.
Do you think it would be beter if we had a Constitutionalist party instead of to aposing factions, republic and democrat. The consitution holds this country together by its laws
look, hospitals charge fee's that they have no right to charge. it does not cost that much money for a surgery, they charge that much. health insurance, is only going to feed a monetary structure that pretends to care about ur health when really they want to take advantage of you needing medical help. they are complaining about not getting paid. whats the use in saving a arm&leg when thats what they take 4 payement?
they do not cost that much. when i was in a car wreck the ambulance ride was 2 to 3 mins to the hospital one road up an it cost $800's. They charge way to much. It is evil. We need surgeries an hospitals almost more then anything else. An they take advantage of it. An that is why they do not get paid. Admit it or not, the truth still remains the truth. Thats one of the best things about it.
For the American people, getting the truth is nearly impossible. It's either utopian garbage from the left or fear mongering and 'death panels' from the right.
what the fuck is that suppose to mean, the white house or anyother political advisor does not consider fox news a news show, because its not. sure they report new , but once that clock turns 5 all they talk about is their uneducated repuplican oppinion, which is what people think is news, but it obveously is not
Obama doesn't really care about the people. He is doing this public healthcare to give the government control over ANOTHER 17 or so percent of the economy. And what's more, the people in the senate who voted for this are going to have a private healthcare and won't have to pay anything!
can you sustain increases in your health insurance costs? for how long, at say 12%, a reasonable estimate of my costs, with a health cooperative (less costly due to diminished waste)? certainly no more than 2 more years for me, after 3 years of these increases.
How constitutional is the government forcing to paying for military research,Police,Fire, Librarys, etc etc etc. But you start complaining when something that goes against your parties beliefs.
One of the arguments is Medicare fraud how about access card for example it if you need, lets say something to further your health along the doctors charge 4 times the amount then what it is worth. Fraud is going to continue with or with out health care, if anything it will escalate into more fraud. So to force us to buy our own coverage will keep us from helping stimulate the economy, we will have to cut back on our spending, according to this congress it will cause us to go DeeperIntoRecession
Still better than no bill, but you're right Snowster. The thing is, the Republicans don't actually care about health care - they're just as much on Pharma's payroll as the dems, and the banks.
They just want to shit on the process, the quality of the bill isn't important to them, otherwise theres a dozen common sense things that could be added.
We need a bill that will drive down cost by getting government regulations changed to allow purchasing accross state lines and tort reform to lower cost for all. They already set prices for 1/2 the health sector and they have done a lousy job of keeping down cost. They are the reason for higher cost to consumers. People don't get that they make the regulation and mandates that usually benefit the healthcare industry at the consumers expense. Get them out and let consumers drive prices.
I don't know what opportunities you are talking about but the opportunity to get ahead actually comes from other people such as an employer. The government has very little to do with how well I am doing but it does have everything on how bad I am doing.
Here's the key of the whole health care reform thing. When every member of Congress and every President/Vice President is forced to use the same plan as the "common" man, we'll see a worthwhile plan. When those people are forced to PAY for that care instead of getting it for free, we'll see price controls that are reasonable. When those people are forced to live on minimum wage, we'll see them get more conscientious.
So long as we allow them to be a better class, we get what we deserve.
And who the hell makes 8000 a year, because that's what you've got to make for 1000 to be 12% of your paycheck. Seriously for a 2000 hr work year that 4 dollars an hour. Whoever made this video is an idiot.
Let's assume you are minimum wage and working a 40 hour week. Federal Minimum Wage (11/25/09) is 7.25 per hour. That's 15,080 gross pay in a year. The Alternative Minimum Tax rate is 28%. That leaves a net income of 10,857 and some change.
They're definitely off on the percentage they quote.. but it's still a lot of money for someone who has to get by on 10K a year. Getting wrapped up on the % value instead of seeing what it might actually mean to ordinary folk is the real idiocy.
And if you make 15,000 a year, you get most of your taxes back, especially if you have any sort of family. I do feel bad for those make so little and supporting a family. I know first hand that 15000 doesn't really go to far. I'm on my own and have never made more than 13,000 a year.
totally agree, just like that Republican douche who said that it costs 2 million dollars a word for the bill, dont believe me, type in "2 million dollars per word" in hulu and you will see the video,
Government transfer payments to the elderly, like Medicare and Social Security, need to be cut back. They are the single biggest items in the federal budget and cannot be sustained to the point at which those who must bear the greatest burden, today's youth, will benefit. These programs are the previous generations' selfish, legislated enslavement of successive generations
@zed4785 yeaup socialists against socialism. but they only appear to be not socialist because they use libertarian rhetoric. the solution is to stop voting democract, stop voting republic, just stop voting. the government can't solve these problems, we should reject outright this rediculous political process that obviously doesn't benifit anyone but the big guys
Healthcare reform must be done. Enough scare tactics. So the current system that allows health insurance companies to deny people coverage because of pre-existing conditions, and putting price caps on people who become seriously ill is more humane? Give me a break!
Yes, it needs reform. And the best way we can reduce health care costs is tort reform. But tort reform isn't in the bill becuase all the scummy lawyers paid to put the democrats in office.
No, it mentions "medical" devices which is pace makers and every other device they could possible say involves heath in order to tax it! Crutches, wheel chairs, splints, blood pressure monitors, you name it! Are people like you really so gullible or is the administration paying you to misinform the people?
go and read my new comment on this video. also reread the bill and notice that class I devices are exempt from the taxes. A wheelchair is a class I device. STFU GG NO RE BITCH!
Way to rip off PC vs Mac commercials. Quit wasting our precious oxygen. You wanna impress me, make a commercial that actually cites the bill for each of these 'points'.
Ok. This is a very slick advertisement from the health insurance industry, who got this money from our premiums and NOT paying out for our medical expenses. It seems they figured out how not to pay when we get sick!
im not saying that poll is wrong but inorder to get as close an accurate poll as possible you need to take all the major polls and average them out. pollsters are terrible people. so just using one poll can be very misleading
What an absolute lie. Apparently this group read nothing in the bill or anything about how it's going to be implemented. Probably another republican propaganda outlet trying to scare the public.
Omg is it really 1k for the tax? How the fuck can they do that? It makes no sense to tax someone for not buying something? I thought only products and services bought could be taxed. Will not buying gas and other products and services be taxed as well?

You know, if you want to tell people what's really going on, tell them what's actually in the bill.
-Congress, Democrats and Republicans, think it's okay for you to pay 30% of your gross income into health insurance.
-There are 0 cost controls in either healthcare bill.
-Obama made a deal with PhRMA for $70 billion, and now won't let the government negotiate standard pricings for procedures and prescriptions.
The real truth is so much more damning than Republican talking points.

wasn't there a similar poll for the iraq war with 56% people against... where is the American military.
Cr0okKid 2 years ago
Yes and in 2006 the Rep got the boot.
However, the Democrat kept the military there and raised the public debt to 12 trillion.
Include HCare and it raises to 14 trillion.

im not saying that poll is wrong but inorder to get as close an accurate poll as possible you need to take all the major polls and average them out. pollsters are terrible people. so just using one poll can be very misleading

What an absolute lie. Apparently this group read nothing in the bill or anything about how it's going to be implemented. Probably another republican propaganda outlet trying to scare the public.
