In every other westernised nation, there is universal healthcare.

The healthcare costs (per capita, government, private, corporate and business) COMBINED are between one third and one half what the US pays per capita, and we here in the rest of the world HAVE LONGER LIFE EXPECTANCY AND LOWER INFANT MORTALITY.

The US has a healthcare system number 37 in the world nearly on par with communist cuba, who pay one tenth the amount the US pays per capita.

they do not cost that much. when i was in a car wreck the ambulance ride was 2 to 3 mins to the hospital one road up an it cost $800's. They charge way to much. It is evil. We need a bill that will drive down cost by getting government regulations changed to allow purchasing accross state lines and tort reform to lower cost for all. They already set prices for 1/2 the health sector and they have done a lousy job of keeping down cost. They are the reason for higher cost to consumers. People don't get that they make the regulation and mandates that usually benefit the healthcare industry at the consumers expense. Get them out and let consumers drive prices.

Here's the key of the whole health care reform thing. When every member of Congress and every President/Vice President is forced to use the same plan as the "common" man, we'll see a worthwhile plan. When those people are forced to PAY for that care instead of getting it for free, we'll see price controls that are reasonable. When those people are forced to live on minimum wage, we'll see them get more conscientious.

So long as we allow them to be a better class, we get what we deserve.

Let's assume you are minimum wage and working a 40 hour week. Federal Minimum Wage (11/25/09) is 7.25 per hour. That's 15,080 gross pay in a year.  The Alternative Minimum Tax rate is 28%. That leaves a net income of 10,857 and some change.

They're definitely off on the percentage they quote.. but it's still a lot of money for someone who has to get by on 10K a year. Getting wrapped up on the % value instead of seeing what it might actually mean to ordinary folk is the real idiocy.
