"The Thin Red Line" From my handi cam

Its cool what you can find on You Tube, what great fun it was to work on the Thin Red Line. I was in Able Squad and picked up the nick name Hacksaw. Chilbury you got some great memory's in this film of your. I will have to pull up the photos I have on my computer at home and make a slide show to post.

I just watched your clip and remember some of the faces as I was there also.Great memories. I was swapping jobs as a film extra and as a driver for the actors ,cast,crew and extras.

The caterers did a fantastic job in the conditions they worked!

I had a great time and met so many terrific people.All I managed to get was a great photo in front of the plane on the airstrip kitted out and a section of a actors script which was left behind in the car. Security was pretty strict.

Yes, I am Australian. I lived in Cairns for about 13 years and left not long after the movie was finished. I helped with driving down some of the equipment after the party at the Sheraton Mirage to Movie World on the Gold Coast. I think you did a great job with the clip and the music.

Where are you from and are still involved in the industry in some way?

how do you get to be an extra in movies like this? is it something you apply for or is it more of a 'who you know' thing?

i was there also.

spent all the time in the river or smoking the shitty cigarettes.

only ended up there when i met two mates on the way back from the woolshed to captain cooks in cairns,i was pissed and thought we were going for a drive.

when the dude is cleaning the stretcher in the water im the guy walking away throuhg the water...famous.

managed to fall asleep on a stretcher for most of one day also get carried back and forth through all that grass.

Wow! that must have been quite an experience! Not very often you get a chance to work in a masterpiece. Jealous.

1.How in hell did you manage to score that gig? Was it in the local paper? And was there a selection process from a casting director?

2.Did ya speak to any of the big guys? Nolte,Penn,Caviezel, Brody,Cusak,Harrelson,Lote?

3.Was is a fun experience? I know there is a lot of waiting, but it must have been pretty cool none the less.

On ya. I worked on TRL as well, from about July/August onwards with some Irish lads I was travelling with. It was a right laugh - I can't believe it was 10 years ago - Jesus, where does the time go, eh? How may times did we 'take the beach'? The best bit was when they blew up the airfield as night fell - that was awesome. Those were the days...

Crikey - I can't remember. I can, however, remember the extras singing "You've lost that loving feeling" to that hot girl from accounts, that lad that got his thumb stuck in the breech of his M1, the waiter at "The Iron Bar" punching out Sean Penn and the awesome, awesome meals the caterers did.

And I remember nicking one of their army shirts, too.

Did you make the final cut? My understanding is the original cut was 6 hours long and had more of George Clooney and even Mickey Rorke in it. Given the final cut was just 3 hours, Im assuming much of what was filmed didnt even make it in.
