Maher is usually on point opinion wise in politics but will never go into the deeper reasons why the masses are struggling and why we are in an economic depression. The reason the Democrats are moving towards the right is that their Democratic politicians (just like Republicans have historically) are boght off by the corporations to carry out their special interests. Maher does not mention this.
In truth we need this old left positions and old right positions. Not this extremes but just kind this kind of left utopies and right utopies. I tell you why, because the voters can have a choice in wich direction the legislative has to "move" .

Moderates are completely tuned out as to what is really going on. The people moderates consider to be "extreme" are the ones who actually know what is happening in the world. That is because "both" sides in America are so similar. Center-right and far-right (note that the left-right dichotomy is different in America than elsewhere.) In other industrialized countries, seats are held by multiple parties that represent vastly different views. There is no left-wing party in America.
