I see a lot of middleclass ammie stuff -which is still ultra-depressing I must admit-, and some picturesque asian area's, wehereas the music is coming from a totally different planet altogether...fail to see the connection....
The connection is very easy - slums are around the world. Slums look like each other. And the soudtrack fits very well because it's in a language of which few people are aware of its existance. So you don't really know where this song is from.
The song was made for a South African TV Series Yizo Yizo where ZOLA was playing a HOODLUM... can buy it on amazon its on DVD.
"Hey don't point at me or else know it ain't gonna end here my friends got my back" - Speaking in character of the series hes basically saying if you snitch i'm gonna sort you out...
Secondly ZOLA speaks SOTHO & ZULU, including some of 11 languages we speak. He sings in ZULU and TSOTSI TAAL which is basically SLANG a mixture of different words from the different launguages.
it cant be true, this language her is zulu,nd tsonga is only spoken by minority population of south africa, most of them or majority of them rather are situated in limpopo province and not the whole of limpopo but the north eastern part of the province, that is to say around giyani and malamulele.
Buddy these pictures are hardly graphic or thought provoking. A lot of those look like nice houses. You should leave Calgary if you want to see real poverty
american politics gives wealthy nations the most money, but neglects the ones that really need it.some leaders, and some wealthy should be executed for these crimes
I am english speaking where can i get the translation. I watched Tsotsi for the 1st time yesterday. Loved it Pesley is so cute. love Zola's music too.
That was a great vid, and the song fits perfectly - at the end Zola say's Amagugu alelizwe ayosala emathuneni, which means the riches of this world will stay in the grave...on a side note, i saw some pics of calgary/edmonton there n i live in edmonton, and its funny how even here some people struggle as if they were in the third world, keep em comming sista
I've got a couple pics from niacaragua that woulda fit right in there. Being in a 3rd world country and seeing how the rest of the world lives, it made me sick to come back to the wasteful materialistic lives here. If only EVERYONE had the opportunity to see how the rest live... and to truly think about it, not just brush it off with a meaningless "thank god I don't have to live like that"
I would have liked to see even More contrasting photos.
