  • You could be like Mr. White... make tons of money ;)

  • why is ozone toxic? seriously.

  • 4 dislikes they did not like the taste off it.

  • can we buy this or do we have to make it

  • in science: white fluid + colorless fluid = brown fluid

  • Wow- did he just say the final solution is sulfuric acid, and yet we are going for the MnO2?

  • My schools poor so the only way i learn anything about experiments is through ur vids. Thank you nurdrage. Ive learned so much ;)

  • looks like chocolate

  • CocaCola :))

  • I blew my finger off:/

  • 11/11/11 like a BOSS

  • Why are you using a voice morpher?

  • @TheWaffletank Probably for legal reasons!

  • @TheWaffletank i think he has a gay voice so he dosent want bad comments

  • @mincraftmythbustersm may be he/she doesn't want to be recognized

  • @Tmaker197812 maybe he is a terrorist

  • @TheWaffletank he wants to

  • mmmmmm, coca cola...

    *gags*

    AAAHHHHHCCCHHH,

  • what exactly do you do for a living.

  • Comment removed

  • is it wheard if i get hungry and thirsty guzz

when you did the stuff by one it becomes brown and it kinda look like cola.

and when its become hard its like chocolade

  • Can I simply add KMnO4 to Oxalic acid in an alkaline environment?

  • I'm fine with ads. I'm perfectly fine with buffering... but when my ads buffer it has gone too far.

  • ohh i remember when those mean manganese dioxide traders screwed you over (= haha.. great video man (:

  • These videos test my sub-woofer

  • @TheLegoConstructor you are a phucking idiot.

  • more convenient way of making pure MnO2 is: 2 KMnO4 + 3 MnSO4 + 2 H2O = 5 MnO2 + K2SO4 + 2 H2SO4

  • @dexterrius Only problem is that permanganate is expensive as hell and much harder to get than crude MnO2 or MnSO4

  • i love how you americans write sulphur with an "f" haha. its actually funny because then words like phone, photo, physics should be written as fone, foto (present already sometimes) and fysics. hahahahaha

  • @TheLegoConstructor You obviously have no reasoning skills. By your "logic," funny, freak, fan, face, and a million other words should be spelled like phunny, phreak, phan, and phace. I love how you idiots enjoy condescending other people to make yourself look smart when in reality your just look more stupid.

  • @TheLegoConstructor

Unfortunately, IUPAC have decided that the official way to say 'sulfur' is using the 'f', but, they've also made the Blighty way of writing aluminium with the additional 'i' correct!

  • @98JMA with the additional "i", you mean "aluminIum"?? well, that "I" has always been there ;) its just funny. wooow, paraFrase, foton, afagia, asfalt, atrofy, morfing, that all the american spelling? ;)

  • How could I seperate the h2so4 from the khso4

  • Synthesized on 11/11/11. Does that give any perks or anything?

  • hi nurdrage, have watched many of your videos and thoroughly enjoy them, however i have a question, or a problem that i need a solution for.

im attempting to reproduce a white metal, its an alloy of copper zinc manganese and aluminium, now heres my problem, there appear to be a multitude of types of manganese out there, would you have any idea what form of manganese is used in the alloying industry?? im still attempting to research this using my very limited knowledge of chmistry lol

  • monohydrate mnso4?

  • I would like to know how to make gunpowder'm from Argentina and I'm very interested in science and how to get all the colors that fuegosartificiales

  • NurdRage is back, that's what I'm talking about!

  • u always come up with new words lol

  • I don't know what the hell you're talking about but I can't stop watching your videos.

  • Where can I BUY this stuff ? Cause I honestly. I acn't do that at home. Or maybe I'll burn down our house. -.-

  • @iJohn101 its potassium pemaganate + glycerin

  • @iJion101 i think it is potassium pemaganate + glycerin

  • why is it called manganese dioxide because this is not a covalent bond shouldnt it be called manganes (4) oxide

  • Can't you just mix potassium permanganate and hydrogen peroxide to make manganese dioxide?

  • Can you still use the contents of a battery like in the old books?

  • @4100bobby

As he said, yes - but it will always be impure.

  • thx 4 putting captions cuz w/ the deep voice it is hard to hear a little but its for clarity

  • make some chrystal meth next time :)

  • @Aktiivihiili This isn't Walter White

  • In what amounts is the sulfuric acid produced in this reaction? Could it be extracted so as to kill two birds with one stone?

  • What kinds of reactions would you do with MnO2?

  • Dear Nurd, I saw on a tv show called survivor man and he started a fire using 2 household medicines. Do you know those or similar ones? Thx

  • @iJohn101 Did he just say household medicines, or did he specify at all?

  • @iJohn101 kmno4 and glycerin

  • how can you test it?

  • " syntesis 11.11.11" ))))

  • Why does the little jar at the end have a QR code in the label? And whats the purpose of all the information in the label?

  • What is maganese dioxide used for

  • can you teach me how to make meth?

  • After all this work of getting high purity MnO2.

What will you do with it now :)?

As you said previously, you needed some high purity MnO2 to perform certain experiment while using low grade doesn't work.

  • can you teach us how to extract dmt from that funny bark shit?

  • FUCK YOU !!!!!

  • can you teach us how to cook methamphetamine ? XD

  • is it bad that i accidentally ate some of this? i feel kind of sick.

  • so is this how they make chocolate?

  • What exactly is it that you do in your research lab? You seem to have access to many chemicals, do you do some sort of synthesis?

  • umm this is to advanced lol

  • Hi

How is the ozone produced? Could you show the chemical reaction? Thanks!

  • chocolate hehehehe

  • How toxic is Ozone?

  • Sodium, sodium, sodium, sodium, BATMAN!

  • Hey, do u play minecraft? xD

  • Thumbs up if u scanned the qr code xD

  • try this: a solution of Ascorbic acid and Copper(II) sulfate will be mixed. The Ascorbic acid reduced the Copper(II) sulfate int fine Copper Powder which precipitates out of solution! Its quite cool! CuSO4 + C6H8O7 + H2O -> Cu + ....

  • "Synth on 11/11/11"

  • I totally paused the video to try to scan the QR code with my phone to see what secrets it held. Alas the image was not sharp enough and the fact it was wrapped around a cylinder made it impossible for my phone to get a lock. :(

  • @stonent if you're hellbent on getting it, you can screen capture the image into photoshop, fix the cylindrical aberration, and apply contrast enhancement to improve the quality.

But i'll save you trouble, it says exactly what you can read on the label. The code is to help our computer inventorying system track what we have in stock and helps us recreate the labels should they get damaged.

  • @NurdRage What label/inventory system do you use?

  • @NurdRage You should embed a link to the wiki article for each substance as well, just in case somebody forgets what it's for. :p

  • @stonent there is a HD setting ;)

  • Why is YouTube keeping this on my enter page ALL week? Is someone trying to load the game so as to get a friend paid more then other people? Are they stacking the deck?

  • @johnnnyreb51 I think they are, I got 600 extra subs this week over my regular amount. Meanwhile i see big channels losing THOUSANDS, something fishy is going on at youtube.

  • @NurdRage i dont get notices for your videos, but all the other subscriptions do, which means i have to check every once in a while to see if you've uploaded. Doesn't bother me, but its weird...

  • @NurdRage will you sell these metals/

  • @Nurdrage Respected Nurdrage,

Is KHSO5 a strong enough oxidizing agent to use for turning alcohols into carboxylic acids?

  • why does this guy sound like a kidnapper calling for a ransom?

  • @keggerous because he is masking his voice since he does not want to be held legally accountable because someone did something stupid or criminal with the information he presents.

  • this guy could probably make acid if he wanted to,

  • If this produces ozone why isn't it used on large scale to repair the ozone layer? Please respond if you can. Love your videos.

  • @toddbertuzzy44 the amount produced here is so small that the energy requirement would exceed the energy output of all humanity. A much more efficient approach is needed.

Even then, its just a band-aid solution, the ozone layer is perfectly good at maintaining itself, the problem is that its being destroyed faster than its being regenerated, we need to prevent the destruction (from our emissions) rather than fix it.

  • @NurdRage Hello! I'm a big fan of your site! and I wonder... if you can make a episode with reactions to produce Ozone... not for repair the Ozone layer of course... just for fun. greetings from Peru! =)

  • @BestUsernamePossible hahahhahhaah....Good said.

  • can you do XPS or FTIR to see how much sulfur is left in your purified product?

  • @wolgreth No i cannot, i do not have the instrumentation. If you do then go for it.

  • why I can't scan the code at 1:57 :(

  • @NurdRage You're fuckin' smart.

  • didnt u have a video telling how u got ripped off buying this?

  • great vid ..........

btw is you voice really like that

  • Who pooped in the filter??

  • that looks cool, the barcode on the vial. like, you could scan it and instantly have an MSDS for any chemical

  • ...and what do you do with that thing?

  • I really love your channel. Chemistry facinates me alot. Im in my last year of highschool and Im planning on starting with a bachelor degree on chemistry. After that Im not sure what I should study next. I want a job that involves alot of experimenting and being inside a lab. Any tips please?

  • I am in no way shape or form chemistry savvy...but I am fascinated by your videos. I am actually interested in taking chemistry now. My question though is what is the major purpose of Manganese Dioxide? Keep up the good work!

  • @liamsnorthstar making potassium permanganate, making manganese dioxide electrodes, and as an oxidant for some reactions.

  • @NurdRage Dear chemical santa, do you play minecraft? XD

  • Wouldn't it be easier if you just mixed KMnO4 with H2O2. I that case you would have MnO2 and KOH.

P.S. I do not know if my method would be less expensive.

  • @giltine002 there are many methods to making MnO2, i don't have time to display all of them. If you have another method go for it.

  • @NurdRage @giltine002 swimming pool chemicals are kind of exotic.. I'd rather see a video with baking soda or lime and battery sludge molten down with air blown through it to make manganate and permanganate.. one of the most important features of manganese is the ability to bind atmospheric oxygen in alkaline media into extremely strong oxidizing compounds - manganates and permanganates..

  • @Sillybillydilly Define "exotic". Personally, i don't consider something you can obtain from a domestically available source as "exotic".

Also, I already have a video on making permanganates.

  • Give me explosions not this shit!

Just kidding. I like these videos better.

  • "Mm, chocolate..." *nom nom* *cough cough* "AAHHHH!!!"

  • @YoutuJ3eJ3lows

    I was thinking cola...

  • Liked... even before the video started. As an AP Chemist, I love your work. Keep it up.

  • SUPER excited for the K synthesis video :) even though i won't personally be doing it..

  • I have to say, I really love your labels. Does the QR code go to the MSDS?

  • Love your channel NurdRage. I even watch the vids without bombs or explosives! But I do admit I feel sorry for your ex-girlfriends!!

  • i was greatly disappointed after 10 minutes of trying to scan that QR code to find that it wouldn't scan.

  • thats kool but can you make coffee with it?? lol

  • I always kind of like the synthesis videos, because whenever I've attempted some reactions in the past, my reactants are always way too muddled with carbon and whatnot for the reaction to go as smoothly as I'd like.

Seeing your pure synthesis, but primarily seeing it in an easy format, makes my job easier, and greatly decreases my chances of failing.

    Thanks.

  • and what can i do with it?

  • Cool, how would you test the purity?

  • did your voice get screwed by some sort of experiment?

  • Why do you change your voice? Afraid you're gonna upload something will cause millions of deaths?

  • what if you could make a lightsaber with chemicals! that would awesome!! of course you would then have to have the red one and dress up like darth vader from then on... well your automated voice isnt quite like vaders but thats ok. anyways it would be so cool if you could make a chemical lightsaber...

  • can you drink it?

  • how many government lists are you on with your videos?

    Just curious...

  • nurdrage i'm your father!

  • did you say manganese sulfate? can i make a bomb with it?!

  • what can that be used for

  • The views seem a little lower than normal. I know it's only been one day since you uploaded this, but this new "You"Tube really has changed quite significantly for the worse.

  • @TheTarrMan nah, i thinks its just the subject. My pure synthetic or pure lab equipment videos tend to do worse than my fun videos or dangerous videos. I'm going to make a dangerous synthetic video on potassium soon. we'll get a true judge of views for the new layout then.

  • @NurdRage I hope I have this new layout figured out by then. Keep up the awesome videos.

  • @NurdRage well yes you have to remember most of the people here are one step above restarted and then there are people who are truly educated most of both groups will not attempt any of this but want to see stuff explode and burn because its entertaining. i personally watch this because when you mention house hold items you say what you can extract from them. and with basic knowledge i can learn where to get things for my own experiments.

  • @NurdRage for example i have been looking around to find good easy source of potassium nitrate or some other oxidizer not because you can make bombs with it but because you can do meany experiments with it.i wanted to try the basics of smoke bombs sugar rockets and other things like that.

  • @NurdRage I look forward to is. I'm particularly interested to see how you purify your product.

  • @NurdRage =))

  • @NurdRage So uhh... when will we have videos demonstrating the synthesization of various cannabinoids and psychedelics? Yeah... sorry I could contribute nothing of worth.

However, someone told me how to synthesize capsazepine, but... I don't have the resources of an amateur chemist. :(

  • Anyone talks about the MSDS of the MnO2 to you yet. about the flu-like symptom if inhaled dust?

  • pm me your gt

  • WAIT...what do u do(/uses of) with magnesium oxide?

  • So that's how they make coffee!

  • You're the coolest science guy :)

  • I might want to be scientist in chemistry. Any tips?

  • @rockstar12201 Do well in chemsitry in highschool and take AP chem but realize they make it much more boring than it actually is. They are too worried that a stupid kid might hurt himself. It gets more interesting as you go on.

  • @michalchik Thanks man!

  • can you teach us how to make lab grade seman, so we can make lab grade humans? thanks labby!

  • Nurdrage I love your videos, thank you for this birthday present.

  • already subbed. I did like, and comment for you good sir.

  • what does maganese dioxide do ?

  • Can you make some Nitroglycerin lol?

  • is it similiar to decomposition of KMnO4 with H2O2?

  • hey Nerdrage I need some help here. I need to know the name of a compound producing oxygen, it is in a black powder form and when heated/burned it releases oxygen kind of like compressed air.

    Thanks in advance.

  • @rogantu There are several substances which fit that description, examples:

copper(II) oxide (decomposes into O2 and Cu2O at high temp), manganese(IV) oxide (turns into the (III) oxide and later into the (II,III) oxide), silver(I) oxide (becomes elementary Ag) ... basically all oxides of metals in high oxidation state will give off O2 when heated.

  • @bla287 Thanks!

now I just need to figure which I can get my hands on for my experiment without any special permissions.

  • @rogantu Now I'm curious what you want to do... because most of these either give off O2 only at very high temp (CuO at >1000°C) or are expensive as hell (Ag2O, decomp at >230°C). Does it have to be a black powder? If not you can use cheaper and more efficient stuff like potassium perchlorate (decomp >400°C).

But I don't know which are easiest to get for you, it depends on location.

  • @bla287 well it is going to be something similar to rocket fuel, but far from liquid, but please do tell me something cheaper I really want to pull this off!

  • @rogantu Ah yeah, I'm not experienced with that but I read a bit on the net about people making solid rocket fuel, but as far as I remember they tended to use a KNO3/ascorbic acid mix. Of course it's the KNO3 in that case that is the source of oxygen, not some black powder.

  • @bla287 yeah I got the ingredients in my list somewhere, but it will be some "weed salt" mixed with sugar, a little bit of water and whatever gives off a lot of oxygen.

this mixture could explode when burned, but I'm experienced and have studied alot so chances for anything going wrong are tiny.

I just need to know the name of these items so I can see wether they would be unstable to use or not and if I can get my hands on them =)

  • looks like coke

  • @v000000000000v dont drink it!

  • Well i never tried a experiment out haha

  • +1 for using QR codes to lable botles

  • i love coming here to nerd out on chemical reactions:D

  • can this be sprinkled on spaghetti or a juicy steak?

  • @bazzarr lol

  • lol I love this channel

  • can you sit next to me in my chemistry exam?! lol

  • poo crust :D

  • Out of curiosity, what's the QR code for?

  • @japanesepoptart QR codes are for identifying chemicals with a digital interface. In layman terms, there's an app for your iPhone where you can make and identify QR codes, enabling you to put much more info about your sample than if you used an ordinary paper label. You can put the date it was synthesised, the procedure you used, purity, melting point, mass, and all sorts of other useful stuff. Honestly though, these are only useful if you have a large lab with tons of bottles and vials.

  • @yellowmetalcyborg

Oh. I thought it was a link or something. Never really thought about that...that's not a bad idea!
