This match is great, both men are just past their prime but can still light up the house. Hogan's arrival was the beginning of the end for WCW. After Hogan won the belt,Flair's career seemed to stagnate. I believe that had Hogan lost the belt back to Flair in the rematch, which was the original plan, the Hogan/Flair feud would have been great. Hogan's ego wouldn't allow that. He had to dominate Flair and refuse to lose or sell any of Flair's moves. We got Hogan vs. Beefcake instead...TOTAL SHIT!
Commercial breaks kinda ruin the idea of having a complete match. Even on dvds they have breaks. Why not show the full matches for the people that pay for the dvd?
Nasty fall @ 3:24 ...if you watch Steamboat's right knee, that isnt' the way you're supposed to land. He likely hyperextended his hamstring on that one, if not something worse...
this was one of the greatest rivalies. i was sooo disappointed when steamboat lost the ic title to the honky tonk man, it was the vince circus that won that match.
Man, remember when WCW Saturday night actually mattered? It's hard to recall...I endured SOOOOOOOO many jobberfests in the years following Hogan's arrival where literally NOTHING would happen storyline-wise for months at a time...
because the rule states that the arm/leg must break the plane of the ropes completely for the hold to be broken - reaching with just the hand and grabbing the rope doesn't count
savvy ref here, only in older AWA matches did I see the rule strictly enforced
@hotel283 But it makes no sense; one minute the ref kicks Flair's hand away, the next he allows it as a rope break. I don't buy Ask 411Mania's explanation of having to drape the limb over the rope opposed to just grabbing it. Nonsense.
the chemistry these 2 guys has was unbelievable!

The ref is used to stopping Ric from cheating that way, but he forgot that Flair was taking the Figure-Four and not giving it. :)

@imokay734 Ref thought Flair was trying to cheat.

@imokay734 And once again, Heenan's actual logic trumps Schiavone's idiocy.
