@nozhh3j2 this gun is a purpose built sniper rifle. thats lke you saying that my ak or m16 isnt an assualt rifle when im not assualting anything.. yes rifles are only tools but the soldier himself is the weapon
Remington 700 are so great that they are one o the only approved sniper platforms approved by the court systems. Use anything else an well... You could be liable. Look it up. So quit trash talking the Remington 700. It is as accurate cold bore shot you will get out of the box.
I didn't see where this trigger thread started, but I have 2 Remington 700's. One with a Timney, the other stock Remington old style, not the XMark. So I am safe from issues. But I have seen the xmark misfire. My buddy and I watched a smith build his rifle, installed a xmark to see how it felt to him. When at the range, we racked in a shell, and when the safety was selected for the fire position, it discharged. We were shooting off a bench, so the round safely landed in the back stop....phew!
@cocainecola6d9 Haha, the rock is the size of a basketball, so its not a miracle shot by any means, I was just having some fun, and did a vid of me using serbian ammo, which has been said to be as accurate as golf balls.
I found it to be good plinking ammo, no FGMM stuff, but fun enough to hit out to 600 consitantly.
Look, I have always said this, If a foreign nation ever tries to invade they will have to gas us or nuke us because we do have the largest civilian army in the world. That rock might someday be the enemy. Practice makes perfect guys and gals keep it up!
@climbon74 no disrespect or anti-american sentiment here, but I have read the "god help anyone who invades" type comment many times on gun websites.
I have to disagree, i'm afraid, as historical evidence shows that a well armed civilian poplulace are still no matched for trained military personell.
I would reference the volkstrum in Berlin 1945, who had acces to anti-tank weapons, and all king of infantry-type armoury. They were still eventually over-run by soviet forces.
you seem to know alot about bolt actions and scops I just cant find the right power and brand to go with Im mounting it on a rem700 sps tactical and its a .308 I'll just be shooting steel that is 18inches and I want to shoot 800 yards and hopfully up and I dont know to go with TMR or MILDOT hope you can really help I was looking at nightforce but thats really alot of money and leupold and sightron I just dont know the powers and size for that range thanks
I love the remingtons. They are accurate and reliable and good looking but the one flaw is the the action is not smooth at all. If they worked this out the would get more sales
There is a common principal with shooting that the gun is loaded and ready to fire when pointed in a clear safe direction with no threat of hurting anyone . If you dont have comon sence then i dont suggest buying this weapon or hmm any weapon in general.

The Rem 700 is very dangerous and 1percent do misfire without touching the trigger, thats 50,000 out of 5 million, so what you should ask yourself is....do you feel lucky? Well do you punk. And yes it is a proven fact. Odds are you 99percent are happy with your gun, but you never know. The 700 should be recalled but Remmy wont do it now and the Gov. has no authority to force the issue.
I would think that the safety issue isnt as dangerous as anyone who would point a loaded gun at anything that they dont want to put a hole in. Period.
The same people were crying about the danger of glocks no safety as well.
I have taken my MULTIPLE remington 700s out hundreds of times, and tried, TRIED to butt drop them to fire, or play with the safety and they didnt fire.
I really dont think this bs is hurting sales. And no one has been proven injured yet right?
@dyepainting Im not trying to be a douche' bag here or anything man, but I have heard three stories of three different people having the gun fire on them while tampering with the faulty safety.
The 700 perhaps is my most favorite, comfortable, stylish, best looking gun in my opinion. I own one myself, it's an ol' 22-250. I love the thing. Best feeling bolt and balance. One story came from an avid hunter of 40+ years, him and his dad had one go off. Never could make it do it again. Another was..
@dyepainting from my father's friends dad (if that makes since). He had it go off while taking the safety off, blowing his trucks window out. The third, not too sure on how true it is, but in Montana years ago a mother shot and killed her son from the safety issue of the model 700. Don't get me wrong, the 700 is perhaps one of the greatest guns ever to be. Like I said I love it.It is all in the basic/childish responsibility of hunter's safety. Why should the gun be pointed at somebody anyways?
If I had a dollar for every story about someones dad, who knew a guy, who had a daughter, who dated a guy from college, who's brother, was in a car, that a remington just went off I would be a rich man.
Fact is, I own 4 of them, I have built at least ten of them, and I shoot long range comps with alot of different people, most likely more in one month than you would come into contact with in your lifetime, yet I have yet to see this faulty safety once, so I should still believe you?
@dyepainting Never said I believed that those stories are true. Pretty sure we'd all be millionaires too. Boosting your ego saying you shoot more in a month than I will in a lifetime is pretty arrogant. Like I said previously, the 700 is probably the greatest rifle ever to be. Any of these problems could have occurred with the Winchester Model 70, Browning's, or anything. Like I said at the end of my comment.
@zb1984 Its not being arrogant, I never said I was an awesome shooter or a great guy, but the facts are Ive built alot of these guns, Ive competed with them, and I shoot them for fun. Hell man the video you are commenting on is MINE, so its obvious that I do shoot these guns.
I dont feel Im being arrongant, but I do feel you have no real backround on this issue, as if you did you would not make blanket statements. All guns have issues, but this one is not based in numeral facts.
@dyepainting I understand man. Like I said before, if these stories aren't true, then somebody was out to get Remington. They were jealous of their sales and awesome gun manufacturing, that they decided to say something to hurt them, by starting a false rumor. You have your opinion with the 700 and your experience, youve had an awesome experience with them, congratulations.
@dyepainting and also, why were these 700's pointed at people in the first place? Why were people having loaded guns in their trucks? This all boils down to hunters safety and basic common sense a four year old could understand. I'll say it again. The 700 is possibly the greatest rifle EVER! Any of these rumors could have started with the WInchester, or Browning. I feel the notion that somebody was out to get Remington, they were jealous of this iconic rifle, so a rumor was started to hurt sales
@dyepainting...it happened to my brother, i was in the stand with him. Pulled his gun up to shoot a deer first day of rifle. He flipped the safety off and the gun fired. Scared us both half to death. Luckily he had the gun pointed down the mountain into a bank. It does happen and it is a problem
@zb1984 Only a small percentage of the 700's produced with the old walker triggers installed actually had that problem. Remington has since corrected that problem by installing the new X-mark pro triggers. The old walker triggers were prone to going off because they would get dirty (someone didn't clean their rifle!) That dirt would get lodged in the inner workings and cause the sear to not catch properly, or be very loose. A bump or even bringing the bolt forward was enough to set it off.

@dyepainting Like I said, they complain about safety issues and how it's a faulty weapon due to the safety, but why in the should you rely on a safety anyways? Cause you don't rely on a safety. A loaded gun on safety is as dangerous as a loaded gun not on safety.
@dyepainting people have been killed by them. the people adjusted the the trigger weight to like 1/2 a pound some ridiculous shit like that. But i completely agree with you bout the safety issue. it's not the gun it's the operator.
@EMERALDEMMY Actually go to the Remington site they have a video they put out for people watching that POS news report. Only way that gun has an issue with the safety is when people modify the trigger group to specs that Remington says not to do. They even tested one of the supposedly faulty guns and no one including investigators were able to make it fire with safety engaged or without actually pulling the trigger. remington700 (dot) tv for a direct link
@EMERALDEMMY considering the government has been using them faithfully for years without issues, idk why they would recall them? cause a buncha morons dont know how to handle a firearm and are too "proud" to admit it...
@dyepainting Thanks so much for that as I have an unfinished Thruster brake for my LTR. I had contacted AZ Precision about doing the work since he installed the BO tactical bolt knob for me but he said he wasn't working on brakes at this time.
Please tell me your opinion if you think that the US Flag's shape and colors is very close or very distant to the "hidden" inner working colors of a gun or a rifle. The upper corner of a gun or rifle is where the triggering mechanism is located: which is either a very sad dark blue closed chamber or (color representative) white compression sparks when firing. The barrel of a gun or rifle either has white light coming into the barrel, or (color representative) red fire from burning of gun powder.
Has anyone who has ever used the Remington 700 rifle, ever heard of or experienced the recent news story reports about this rifle's trigger related safety issue, of firing without the pulling of the trigger ? I think that this news story may be some type of mind control hypnosis game, or it may be free advertising for Remington's rifles. Remington claims that this triggering problem only occurs when this rifle is not properly maintained, as it is necessary to be done for this rifle.
@trader0108 700 msnbc is crap, liberal based idiot news. I have shot, owned, and built up more remington 700s than ever, and this old rumor has been going around for as long as I can remember, and started with their hunting rifles, now its their "sniper" rifles.
Its bull, and msnbc can go to h$ll with their liberal slant fear driven news. I dont like hearing remington 700s even talked about on the news. Next they will be calling them dangerous baby killing, anti aircraft weapons !!
@dyepainting A quick way to prove or disprove this would be to examine those rifles and see if they have defects or are poorly maintained. Also why were those muzzles pointing at other people even for a split second? Even if the rifles were defective it's still on the person to use safe handling practices. This is a hatchet job by MSNBC.
@dyepainting i am pro guns but is it not possibal that remington had a desighn flaw in one its rifles and it tried to cover it up like big companys useally do and how the hell do you explain the desighner of the 700 admitting ther their was a flaw in his rifle
and how he came up with a way to fix it but remington did not do it because of the cost
@dyepainting Now, i was at hunting camp and they were talking about a "remington 700 problem" one of the guys rifles actually does it
What causes it is: Some people forget their saftey is on and go to pull the trigger and it moves ever so slightly. So when they go to take the saftey off, The gun goes off
@tonythedemocrat1 I want one Badly, There to me still one of the best rifles ever made... now im pretty sure its a VERY old model. Nothing ever changed on it
The numbers of these people who have the smarts to know their trigger is broken, but arent intelligent enough to have the company who made the weapon fix it right away is amazing.
This is no different than the toyota gas pedal hoax. A few people have a real issue, and 8000 have a fake one.
Guns are made by man and mechanical. If it doesnt work fix it.
Those of us who have built, and owned 700s for 20 years, know the truth.
@trader0108 I have seen one example, exactly one, of what they MIGHT be talking about. A model 700 that seemed to cycle normally, but if you bumped the bolt it would fire. Out of the millions of rifles in the hands of people who use them frequently if this was pervasive you would hear about it a lot more. When the only time you hear someone complain about it is when they shot someone else I think you have to question their reliability. Why weren't they practicing muzzle discipline?
@trader0108 they acually just had a big thing about it on tv showing the problem and people that have it on camera it is very true i live in upstate new york and live in the county that the remington factory is
Today on MSNBC they had a report about Remington battling with safety issue on the 700 series rifles. . . supposedly they knew about some trigger-related safety issues for decades but didn't fix em.
Nice looking rifle, and nice shooting, looking to get a custom M700 ported in 7mm mag some day. Have you shot berger vld's out of this gun?. I shoot them out of my ruger mark 2 in .243 and it loves them.
I really dig the paint job. Looking to do something like that to my 700. What colors did you use if you don't mind me asking? Also wondering about the brake on there. Nice shooting man!
yes the Rem 700 is a quite common gun. So common could probably even find some variation at Wal-mart (dont know if I buy one there though, lol) Of course it'll be stock, but you can do whatever you want to it!
Awesome varmint rifle. I have one in .223, 200 yards MOA at the range and totally obliterates an adult Hare in the paddock. Have a Luepold 4.5-14x 40 but wish it was a nightforce nxs. Did a gunsmith fit that fancy bolt handle or did you did you buy it? Looking for one myself. Remington bolt handles are the only shit part about their rifles.
I bought a .308 SPS tact., attached Harris bipod, picatinny rails, 1907 pattern leather Military sling (same as used on M24/M40a5's), & a 3-9 scope (upgrading scope).
dyepainting... You may have been doing hip shot of a video last minute but it was a dam good video... Rifleman, spotter, video man... Pretty good you now get to wear 3 hats.. LoL. I am gonna check out the rest of your vids now..
I Painted the rifle, and all my rifles myself. I picked up the serbian ammo for cheap, and this video was kind of an accident as I was doing some testing of the ammo for a friend on the video, it wasnt meant to be super scientific, just shooting a rifle in the desert, at a rock the size of a basketball at 500 yards...
@SerbPatriot94 change name motherfucker, why the hell a serbian is patriot. there is nothing to love about your country. dogs are better then your people.
anyone know where I can look into purchasing a heavy barrel for a remmy 700?? Great shooting and video btw!!!

@dyepainting Like I said, they complain about safety issues and how it's a faulty weapon due to the safety, but why in the should you rely on a safety anyways? Cause you don't rely on a safety. A loaded gun on safety is as dangerous as a loaded gun not on safety.

@dyepainting ya, If you go on the model 700 website, they prove they allegations wrong multiple times, in video and writing. remingtonmodel700.tv
zazszdzfzgzhzjzkzlzx 1 year ago
@dyepainting people have been killed by them. the people adjusted the the trigger weight to like 1/2 a pound some ridiculous shit like that. But i completely agree with you bout the safety issue. it's not the gun it's the operator.

@EMERALDEMMY
1. it shouldn't be a problem if people practice good muzzle control
2. The news special they did with these "defective" rifles, they couldn't even MAKE the culprit rifles from the stories misfire again.
3. This IS a noted problem on OLDER remington 700 rifles. i.e. PRE 1982......most of the misfiring rifles had been modified or "upgraded"
nyclaybreaker 1 year ago
@EMERALDEMMY i thought that myth was put to rest some time ago, look around on yt..
bjizzle123 1 year ago
@EMERALDEMMY Actually go to the Remington site they have a video they put out for people watching that POS news report. Only way that gun has an issue with the safety is when people modify the trigger group to specs that Remington says not to do. They even tested one of the supposedly faulty guns and no one including investigators were able to make it fire with safety engaged or without actually pulling the trigger. remington700 (dot) tv for a direct link

The barrel of a gun or rifle either has white light coming into the barrel, or (color representative) red fire from burning of gun powder.
trader0108 1 year ago
Has anyone who has ever used the Remington 700 rifle, ever heard of or experienced the recent news story reports about this rifle's trigger related safety issue, of firing without the pulling of the trigger ? I think that this news story may be some type of mind control hypnosis game, or it may be free advertising for Remington's rifles. Remington claims that this triggering problem only occurs when this rifle is not properly maintained, as it is necessary to be done for this rifle.
trader0108 1 year ago
@trader0108 700 msnbc is crap, liberal based idiot news. I have shot, owned, and built up more remington 700s than ever, and this old rumor has been going around for as long as I can remember, and started with their hunting rifles, now its their "sniper" rifles.
Its bull, and msnbc can go to h$ll with their liberal slant fear driven news. I dont like hearing remington 700s even talked about on the news. Next they will be calling them dangerous baby killing, anti aircraft weapons !!
dyepainting 1 year ago 31

@Tehl33tpwnage and he never adjusted the trigger in any way
tonythedemocrat1 1 year ago
@tonythedemocrat1 Im sure that is the whole truth and nothing but.

Thanks for watching though!
