  • Please help me...

When in Tiny Hexer, and click "Save As", nothing happens, and when I click "Save", it says:

    System Error. Code: 5.

    Access is denied.

What should I do to fix this?

  • Hey when i type in NTLDR and click find it says that it didnt find it...Any suggestions? I dont see BOOTMGR or anything as the top comment suggested..

  • Didnt work...

  • download flashboot.exe and rc.iso (ca. 7MB) via google

than open flashboot and wrap iso to usb as shown

    bootrec /fixmbr

    bootrec /fixboot via win7 dvd

    -------------------------------------

for win7 simply copy folder "BOOT" or repaIR BY OVERWRITE THE

    THE FILE

"bcd" inside with the backup "BCD.backup.001* correct size is 24576k

    this causes the error 00000*

  • Hey Britec09,

I tried this out with a 2gb usb that says DataStick PRO on it. I did as you instructed on the video and when I got to the 'NTLDR' part... it tells me, "The data has not been found in the currently edited sector(s). Search the following sector(s)?" and I can choose 'yes', 'no', 'yes to all' and 'help'. Can you help me figure this out? Thanks.

  • I do believe this video was made based on my instructions at hxxp://tuts4tech(dot)net/2009/07/14/creating-a-usb-bootable-xp-recovery-console/ if you guys want to check it out there is an updated version of the recovery console with all SATA drivers added and the tutorial was updated to support sticks larger than 4gb

  • After some troubleshooting..

For those who see BOOTMGR instead of NTLDR here is what to do:

    1. In TinyHexer, completely overwrite BOOTMGR with NTLDR & 2 spaces for the additional characters.

    2. Do a Save (NOT Save As) back the boot record.

    3. Replace NTLDR with CMLDR (as per original instructions).

    4. Now Save As a file USBLDR to your USB drive.

    It should work perfectly now.

Hope this helped, & great work Britec.

  • @fwchang Your welcome and thanks for letting other know

  • @fwchang How would you overwrite BOOTMGR

  • @fwchang When I try to replace BOOTMGR with (NTLDR ) it says invalid hex data...?

  • Thank you, sir! Your instructions may have just saved my arse!

  • when i click save as, nothing shows up. Please replay asap. Thnaks

  • I can't "save as" but I can save the file... The program doesn't do anything when I click save as.

  • Your a legend brother, Im on holiday in the states tomorrow and netbook died today. Spent most of day trying to fix. just run chkdsk /r. hope this works.

  • Hey Britec

NTLDR does not show up when i search for it. I think its because im running this on Vista. The place where NTLDR is supposed to be is replace with BOOTMGR... please help, i can't boot with a cd as my cdrom is busted.

  • HEY BRITEC

I have tried this before with 100% success. this time (same system) when i tired it the screens i get on the recovery console are totally different! it wants me to say which installation of windows (only answer it will accept is '1') and wants system administrator password. i have tired all the passwords and have no clue what it might be. dont recall ever setting up this password. last time i used your solution i simply typed "chkdsk" into the prompt and it worked. any idea what todo?

  • just use password recovery tool to reset password.

  • @Britec09 I can't save as not sure why.

  • @karlalopezpk i tried this on my other computer a windows xp home edition and it worked im thinking it doesnt work with windows xp 7

  • @roughhombre This happens because the 1st time you ran the recovery console, your Windows installation disk was corrupted & inaccessible. Once you used chkdsk to fix it, & ran recovery console a 2nd time it became mountable & will look for the admin password. If your Windows installation was done via a Sysprep image then the password keys are stored differently in registry & Recovery Console will always ask you for the password.

  • @roughhombre The 1st time you ran recovery console, the primary disk was corrupted & inaccessible. After it was fixed with chkdsk, it became accessible & mountable. Therefore running recovery console a 2nd time it now asks the disk to mount. If the windows installation was prepared from a SysPrep image, then the password keys are stored differently in registry & it will always asks for an admin password even if you had not set up one.
