  • What San Pedro and no BUSY BEE'S shot!

  • nina swims better than i do! hahahaha..*blush

  • What a great time! Personally, as a Mexican-American, seeing you guys ready to dig into that big plate of tacos, flautas, and enchiladas made me smile from ear to ear... I hope it was absolutely delectable!

P.S. Look at Nina strummin' like a rock star! すごい~

  • @zeroarashi All of us LOVE Mexican food, so whenever we are back in the U.S. we always eat as much as we can because you can't really find good Mexican food in Japan.

  • @geofg Perhaps I should move over there and cook Mexican food rather than become a doctor like I had originally planned. lol ^_^

Bring a little latin spice and feed all those hungry Nihon-jins over there!

  • @zeroarashi ha ha Most of the foreigners I know living over here have had the idea of starting a Mexican food restaurant. One problem is that most Japanese aren't used to eating spicy foods, so you would have to turn the heat down so much that it wouldn't really be authentic.

Good luck with med school! That's a tough road, but we always need good doctors!

  • @geofg San Pedro, CA? That's in Southbay! I live in Long Beach which is literally a stone throw away from where you guys were. I wish I could have seen kawaii Nina :(

  • Great solo, do you plan on having Nina take music classes in the future ?

    Music is awesome .

Am I mistaken or did someone say "rock that mother..." at 2:30 :D ?

  • @StephenJacobJunior Nina has expressed an interest in guitar, so we might get her a guitar and some lessons at some point. And, I think my dad is saying, "Rock that number." ha ha

  • 凄いね!I live in California. I wanna see her so bad! she is just too cute! ^-^

  • The Guitar is as big as Nina and the Margarita is as big as her too!! American size yeah! It is nice that your wife got to go with you. My husbands longest vacation is less than a week long :(

  • @HannahInJapana The first time I got a margarita in Japan I almost laughed because it came in a glass only slightly bigger than a shot glass. Indeed, everything is bigger in the U.S.

As for taking vacations, It was the same with us when my wife was working. Now that she's taking a break from work for a few years we can finally take long trips like this as a family.

  • 0:58 Baldheaded monster!

  • haha how awesome they have Salsa & bachata going on in the background feels like i'm looking a video of Puerto Rico (my place, here)

Nina is getting so big! She's such a good swimmer!

  • @Shinde16 What is Puerto Rican food like?

  • @geofg Well very yummy! hehe no doubt about it.

We have a few things in common with other Latin foods like Mexican (but they are too spicy)

We mostly eat White rice and beans, and as side dish some meat it can be fried chicken,

Pork chop, Beef etc. comparing it to Mexican food PR food had more flavor to it instead of spicy. (as said by a Mexican) We eat of sweet plantains too and cook Pork chop with coke Coca Cola :) instead of frying it with grease use Coca cola. The taste is awesome.

  • @Shinde16 Mmm. Sounds great!

  • My God!! Looks to me like your raising a little fish. Nina looks to be a great swimmer!

Jeaz that mexican food made me feel insanely hungry, too bad its 12:15 a.m. lol

  • @melzaelf Yeah, she is a creature of the water alright. And, it was so nice to get Mexican food. Can't really get anything like that where we live in Japan.

  • Hi there:) I've been wondering what sort of camera do you use for your videos and still photography. I'm quite amazed with the colours. Cheers!

  • @nottiesh6789 I use a Canon Eos DSLR for still photos and a Kodak zi8 for video.

  • wow geofg! did you teach her swimming? that's absolutely impressive for a

    6 yo girl!

  • @burunggiler No, she gets lessons once a week at our local fitness center. She has been going for about a year.

  • she swims better than me hahahaha

  • I lived in San Pedro as well as Manhatten Beach for almost 10 years and always loved the spots along the water to chill and have a drink. Great vid.

  • ^^ nina - you're so cute

  • 1.17: Yipes! That's a big drink. I think two of those would finish me off.

  • She has gotten so big! :)

  • Good model, photography, and editing. She's quite a good communicator. It's not always EZ being a gaijin in Japan. Now it's fine, but I hope they don't simply want to make her a model or newscaster, later. I'm happpy you're speaking eigo 2 her a lot --it's possible for "halfu" to emerge not knowing --and even hating-- Engrurishyuu.

  • @blondecrazygaijin Nina has never done any kind of modelling or commercial work in Japan. We are not interested in that. I know what you mean about kids who get thrown into that kind of lifestyle, but we are happy having Nina just be a normal kid who enjoys the simple things in life.

As for English, so far Nina hasn't rebelled against it, I think because there is a clear distinction between her Japanese and English worlds. We don't "force" it on her.

  • Great to see you guys again! :-) Your wife's English was actually pretty good! And who knew Nina could swim like that AND play the blues!? Can't wait for part 2!

  • Nina is gonna be a gorgeous rockstar one day with guitar skills like those! Gotta shelter her from all the boys chasing after her =P

  • so cute

  • cuteeeeeeeee

  • i love watching all your videos..

btw, what is nina's full name?

sounds more like japanese or american? :D

  • @aiysha79 She uses my last name in the U.S. and my wife's last name in Japan.

  • wow..she act like a real rockstar..lol

btw the food looks yummy make me droling..XD

  • You were in Texas and didn't hit me up!?

  • @ashabahn It's a big state!

  • she is a good swimmer for her age

    the food looks awesome

and she will be a Rockstar ;-D

  • @qendu The swimming lessons have definitely helped her. Maybe we need to get her guitar lessons next. ha ha

  • i think i just saw a rockstar hahah

  • @geofg Can your wife speaks English? I hope I can see 3 of you talk in English. Must be so cute..

  • @princessarchitect My wife did her best using English on this trip, but I don't think I have much video of her using it. And if I did, she probably wouldn't let me upload it. ha ha

  • @geofg :) Do you and your wife mostly communicate in Japanese? I'm an Indonesian, my husband is an English. We live in Indonesia right now. My Husband used to live in China for 4 years, He can speak chinese fluently. I hope he has the spirit to learn Indonesian as big as the spirit when he learnt Chinese. LOL. Don't get me wrong, he is getting better speak Indonesian too, after 4 years living here. We are planning to have children next year, watching Nina and your fam is an inspiration :)

  • @princessarchitect Whew! The idea of trying to learn another language from the beginning seems tough to me! I finally feel comfortable with Japanese! It sounds like your husband is doing well! Good luck to you and to your future family!!

  • I'm glad you're having a nice time in America. Nina is a really strong swimmer. I think by next year she'll be able to swim here from Japan.

  • im from texas! what part of texas did yall visit?

  • @itsANNtime Mostly the hill country west of San Antonio.

  • give her piano lessons.. :)

  • you all are back!! :) I was wondering when I would get a new video from you guys in my sub box

  • I am so proud of you and Nina. She can speak both English and Japanese. We have an exchange student from Japan who is half Japanese half Australian in our grade at school. She cannot really speak or understand English.

I'm inspired by parents who are raising their children to be bilingual.

All the hard work is gradually paying off for you, right?

    :)

  • @prae29 I think the important thing is to just make the time to spend with your child. I don't really teach Nina English, but rather I just try to speak English to her every day. If you have the chance, try to talk with the exchange student at your school and make her feel welcome. If she makes friends with English speakers, her English should improve quickly.

  • i miss you nina XD

  • She is a good swimmer =)

    God bless !

  • hye @geofg..how i missed nina so much..hahah..by the way she looks like a rckstar when she played the guitar..

  • NINA!!!!! How i missed her so. :')

  • That's it! Nina is joining my band now !

  • @Daichen Nina has been asking us if we will buy her a kid-sized guitar. I would love to give Nina some guitar lessons from the famous Daichen!

  • I wish I can swim with her! haha

btw, I was wondering, how do you handle her when she's in her bad days, you know, when she throws tantrums and sensitive?

  • @meadowscent Nina doesn't throw tantrums too often. When she does, we just talk with her, try to explain why we have certain rules etc. She may pout or cry for a bit, but she usually recovers quickly. I think we are lucky that she is a communicator by nature.

  • CUUUTTEE :D

  • San Pedro! That means your close to Roscoe's chicken and waffles. Great place to eat some fattening food. Did your family get a chance to go to the OC Fair, if not there is still Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain. Hope your family continue to have a great time.

  • @kantishna39 I've heard of the famous Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, but I thought it was in L.A. somewhere. We thought about the OC Fair, but were scared of the crowds! No theme parks this time, but we'll do some next visit.

  • @geofg They do have a couple in LA, but I live in Orange County and I only have to deal with one freeway (405) to go to the Long Beach one. Plus, I believe the Long Beach one is the original. It's kind of like eating at the now chain store Tommy's Burgers. You can go to any of them, but for some reason they taste the best at the rundown one off of Rampart in LA. We used to joke that the cockroaches at the original Tommy's were bigger and tastier.

  • @kantishna39 I didn't know the original Roscoe's was in Long Beach. I'll keep that in mind for next visit. And, I have eaten at the original Tommy's. My first time was about 30 years ago! I can still remember the taste of those chili burgers.

  • Dude, that is one HUGE... drink. hahaXD i dunno what it's called. XD

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. Come to the Philippines for vacation?? I wanna meet you guys. Or maybe I should just go to Japan. Ehehe (-^^-)

  • @iammolley That was a margarita. Tequila, Triple Sec, lime juice, crushed ice... great summer drink! We would love to visit the Philippines some day if we have a chance.

  • @geofg Yay!! Tell me so I can take the day off and show you guys around. Haha. XD Nina swims better than I do btw. Haha.

  • She's very good at swimming!

  • Hoooooray!! Nina's back! I miss you so much! :-)

  • Wow, Nina has really grown!

  • I want the food! I'd also like to go swimming.

  • I was just thinking yesterday... I miss nina <3

  • This is so cute! It looks like she had a great time.

  • those were tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, doraditas and burritos (are not even mexican tho)

  • @fabitapunk I've never heard of doraditas. I thought the small crispy ones were called taquitos. And, yeah, it's all Cali-Mex.

  • @geofg Actually are tacos dorados but you can call them doraditas or taquitos.

  • lmao, marco... polo!!! someone has to teach nina that game btw :D

  • @favorstars We did try to play marco polo later but Nina had to stay in the shallow end, so it didn't give us much room to maneuver. ha ha

  • Yeah!! Nina's back :) I'm sure others will agree, you were missed!!

Nina is a great swimmer like a fish in the sea :)

Looking forward to more summer vacation vids of fun!

  • Poor tired Mama! I hope Nina (and Mama and Papa) had fun in California!

  • Okaeri! So glad to see everyone has returned home safe! Nearly 2 months without a Nina vid made me sad. Can't wait to see the next one. Thanks geoff!

  • NINA!!! You're back!!! yeah!!!

  • haha mama looked like she enjoyed the margarita(?) xD Can't wait to see more uploads from ca..but too bad I never ran into you guys. :(

  • she is SO ADORABLE!

  • Wa~! Nina is a great swimmer! and guitar player xD I missed these videos i always check for new updates :)

  • nina is so cute and she's getting big :)

  • sape laaa yg dislike ni?? natangg betoll

  • Whoever disliked this is a massive butt and has no cute or awesome glands :P

  • mama looked so tired!

  • @srainy That was only our second day in the U.S. so I think the jet lag was kicking in. ha ha

  • NO! I just moved from California to Amsterdam! I would have loved to be in the same state as Nina! You guys are some of my favorite YouTubers. Have a great stay and remember sun screen ;)

  • @carrbarre I've heard good things about Amsterdam. How do you like it there?

  • @geofg It's wonderful. It's beautiful here, what with all the canals and beautifully maintained houses. Public transportation is a snap, so it's nice for people like me who are car- and bike-less. If you want to take the family to Europe, I really suggest Amsterdam.

  • I MISSED YOU GUYS!! nina's growing up so fast! hope you guys had a great time in the states!

  • oh, how i've missed nina san :) glad you're all home safe :)

  • im going to married japan girl so i can hav children like nina.....O___O

  • oh, how i've missed all of you. hahahaha

  • Oh I really miss u.

Nina's grandpa looks young and healthy.

I like her when she played the guitar.

I've checked your video update about this trip many times.

    Are you back to Japan?

  • @tissnadi Yeah, my dad exercises and tries to stay healthy. And, yeah, we are back in Japan now.

  • Welcome back!

I'm looking forward to the rest of this. I hope all went well!

What was Nina's reaction to the Mexican food? How did she compare it to her normal Japanese cuisine?

  • @ToxinMortalis She loves it.

  • That is so adorable, the guitar is so much bigger than her.

  • Geofg!! I missed Nina so much... u gotta make up to your subscribers with more vids lol...

  • I wonder, is/was your wife surprised by the portion sizes in the US? Hahaha! When my aunt's fiance first came to the US from Ireland, he was shocked at how big everything is here. Ireland isn't exactly Japan...but I still bet our portion sizes here are big to them.

  • @LadyGrinningSoul Yeah, the portions in the US are out of control. Generally, we ordered one or two dishes for the three of us when we went out, and that seemed about right.

  • I think you laugh like elmo! xD (Not an insult) I bet Nina's English will improve during this summer vacation:)

  • @mikiwhore I laugh like Elmo?! Hmm...

  • Very good swimmer for such a young age.

It does seem that kids with older parents get a more enjoyable time with them.

  • @zoodensha I think older parents are generally more settled in their lives and are able to focus on their children more, perhaps. Sometimes I feel more like a grandfather than a father. ha ha And, my father spent a LOT of time playing with Nina. He never played with me that much when I was a kid. ha ha

  • more more more more :)

  • Glad to see everyone having fun in the states.

  • Amerry-ka!

  • your wife seems to be older than you.

  • It seems like she has a very great holiday ! yeaay ! :D

  • Wow...she's a much better swimmer than I am >_>

  • I was wondering, did Nina feel awkward when she first meet his grandpa after a long time? I remember I was scared at my grandparents everytime we visit my parents' hometown, even though the gap is just one or two month. They all look like stranger everytime! lol

  • @sodasirap ha ha No, she seemed pretty comfortable. We talk with both of my parents on Skype every Sunday, so they don't seem like strangers.

  • "i'm going to dah puhl~" :)

  • I missed you Nina, sooooo much it hurts! :D I'm glad you had a great time in your dad's home country. :) Big hug baby girl!

  • I MISS NINA, PAPA AND MAMA!!!, MORE VIDEOS PLEASEEEEEEE!!!!!

  • Wow you've got a budding musician there! And an greater swimmer too. Love you Nina!

  • Amelica!

    Hahha so cute

  • I was thinking of Nina so I was just checking if you guys are back from America...Voila!! a new Nina's video! She might become the next Avril Lavigne! She definitely got the pose and facial expression while holding that electric guitar!! Hope you guys had a nice trip. Looking forward to more videos!

  • @phoeson18 ha ha Yeah, she can't actually play any musical instrument, but she has the rocker "look" down.

  • btw.. I love to see your face when you're holding that drink, mr.geofg.. hahhahaha

  • Finally.. another NIna's Video.. miss u all guys.. (^_^)

  • That looked like a beautiful Margarita ^-^

Good to see that your family is well!

  • @tias90 Those margaritas were great!

  • Wow! What a great time you had! Was that Nina's first Mexican food?

Can hardly wait fr more vids! =^[.]^=

  • @Raycheetah I try to make Mexican food in Japan sometimes, but that was her first Mexican food in a restaurant since the last time we visited the U.S.

  • Welcome back! Seems like you had fun! :) Nina is SUCH a good swimmer! Congratulations Nina! :D I was thinking, why don't you let Nina's hair grow longer? I think it would suit her very much :) ^.^

  • @Pixiemel2 I keep trying to get Nina to grow her hair longer, but she and Mama always oppose me. :(

  • So how does she like the mexican food? I'd figure it'd be a bit of a drastic difference as opposed to most typical American food.

  • @kichan Nina LOVES Mexican food.

  • no way! i live in san pedro~!

  • @12izGone We enjoyed San Pedro.

  • so cal. in summer is nice !

  • @nirvgardengod Indeed!

  • Did she enjoy her flight? I remember as a kid I would get super excited going on planes. Cute video as always!

  • @kyushutrish It's a LONG flight, but she did OK. It was the jet lag after we got there that was hard to take.

  • yeeey new video .. i miss nina a looot T.T she grow up so fast =D

  • wow nina is a great swimmer!

  • aaaaaa i LOVE mexican food!! that dish was amazing!! *_* love to see all your family mister geofg, you really look like your father you know?? :) and nina looks like a beautiful mermaid! big big kisses!!

  • @lifemango The Mexican food was great! And, yeah, I definitely look like my father.

  • Nothing to say but (Amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing ) :) :)

  • wow she's grown up since the last time I saw her! :) I hope you guys had a wonderful time in CA~It's pretty hot here.

  • @HatchuneMiku01 California weather seemed really nice after the hot, muggy weather here in Japan.

  • I finally hear your wife speak english. :)

  • @summermiki06 ha ha Yeah, my wife did her best with using English while we were there.

  • Yeay! Nina is back! Hope Nina and Family had tons of fun in America!

    :)

    xoxo

    NMA

  • I've been watching old Nina videos to fill the void whenever I'm in a bad mood haha, so happy there's a new video!!!! And look at all the spunk playing the guitar ;) kisses from canada, Vivian.

  • Nina is totally adapt herself to America, her last video in U.S I remember, she is shy or not brave enough to talk in English, but now she is good communication in English. btw I'm looking for the part2,part3....XD

  • @alen921006 Her English got better and better the longer we were in the U.S. I felt so proud seeing her speaking with everyone in English.

  • I live relatively near the San Pedro area~ that would have been so cool to run into you guys! I would have totally asked for your autographs!!

  • @Sindini ha ha I don't think our autographs are worth much, but Nina certainly would have been surprised to run into someone who knew her from Youtube.

  • @geofg speaking of bumping into you...i have been wondering... in the unlikely chance that i get lucky and bump into your family somewhere on the planet... would you mind being greeted? :-D i wouldn't want to freak out nina, being a stranger and all. :-)

  • @ulan25 It has happened a few times, actually. When people meet Nina, they are sometimes surprised that she is shy at first. In Nina's own mind, she is just a regular kid, so she is most comfortable with people who treat her that way and don't fawn over her too much.

  • @geofg i see! i will keep that in mind, if ever i do bump into your family (-dreaming here-).

  • I looooove how she rocked out!! sooooooo cute!!!!!!! Welcome back Nina!!!!! (and welcome back papa and mama too ^_^)

  • @jodiebkk Thanks! We had a great trip, but it's good to be back.

  • Nina rocking out! loved it

  • Nina's such a great swimmer! Is this her first visit to the US?

  • @AzureCressington No, but this was her first long visit there.

  • You make me miss US and wanna have a baby girl at the same time! Cute Nina.. she's grown up a lot! ^^

  • She's just so cute :) She seems to be getting better at English sentence structure these days!! Wow! And it made me smile when she played the guitar :)

  • @LaurenNIHON After almost a month in the U.S. I could really see her English improve. This is from our second day in the U.S.

  • i just noticed that my cousin's daughter looks like nina :D

  • YAYYY!! I miss Nina..upload more papa!

  • @the8lackra88it Lots more footage to wade through, but I'll get more up soon.

  • long time no see !
