The Turnigy Super Brain log on the Turnigy says 100A as the type of speed control and I think I see mounting legs on the ESC used which corresponds to the 100A model. Your results include testing with a 3S and 4S battery but according to the specs on the 100A Turnigy Super Brain ESC at Hobbyking it is suitable for only 4S-12S? Does this mean that you can actually use this ESC with a 3S battery or is there something else that I am missing (a UBEC or if you are using other than the 100A ESC?)
I have just got this motor it is very nice but dont think it running good with a 7X5 prop and a 2200 lipo and 60amp esc it is only using 16amp max don't know why??? anyone got any ideas
@RAM211 is that 3cell 2200mah lipo? if yes then 16 amp is completely normal because on 3 cell you can go up to a 10 to 11 inch prop top get to the 45 amp limit
@RAM211 I used to have a xyh 3530 on 1400 kv and he also run 16amp on 3cell with a 7x5 put a 8x6 on that and you'll see the amp go right up over 25amp
So let me get this right, this tiny motor is basically making about the same amount of power as a lot of electric scooters are that push 200lbs around at 15mph? That's amazing if I'm understanding this right
Great review Frank and i know you said it would suit both plane types but what sort of size would be good,400,300 or what sort of weight would be good mate as all them numbers don't mean to much to me mate and i bet a few other boys aswell lol, thumbs up though.
Thanks startazz! If you are refering to motor size this one would fall into the 500 class size of motors as it is 35mm in diameter. And being rated at up to 470watts of power it should put out enough for anything requiring this size motor.
400chevlc I was referencing the 8-10% increase stated on the HobbyKing website in the motor listing. I did not directly measure the efficiency against anyrthing other than my experiences with similar sized motors. From my experiences I felt this motor draws less amps then most other similar sized motors I have tried before.

is your prop backwards???
tomascontrerasjr 1 year ago
tomascontrerasjr I had it setup as a pusher configuration for the testing so that is why the prop looks backwards.

How did you measure the 8-10% increase in efficiency? What are these results measured against?
