Irregardless of the call, it was a terrible idea to go on a steal of home with 2 outs. I can appreciate your wanting to help the team, but you have to be smart about what you are doing in baseball or softball. There are so many things that can happen that could start a rally. A wild pitch, passed ball, error base hit, or any number of things brings you home. But risking a third out by stealing is not good ballplaying. Btw, the ump got it wrong, you were safe.

Com, I've coached baseball for 7 years, with a winning percentage over 800 at the high school level. Won a conference championship against a team that hadn't lost in two years by stealing home with two outs (it was just one of my 6 conference championships, mind you)... So I have to disagree with you here. I only did it once, but I felt at that time that it was the best move I could make. Especially since our worst batter was up.

The call, btw, was wrong. Lazy ump.

Well, with those credentials it is hard to argue, but I still maintain that stealing home with two outs, unless, of course, it is a total surprise as the situation you describe, is not a very good move. The intangible here is whether the coach sent her or whether she went on her own. From the description, it sounds like she went on her own. But on one thing we both can agree, the ump was indeed lazy and out of position for that call.
