  • ''i like to make beat music in my spare time because i never miss a beat, I'm dead inside, my heart never beats, so i need to make beats to stay alive.'' MONIE

''i once tried making beats but then realised, hearing my farts would sound more fulfilling." MONIE

  • sounds great mate! for more flylo feel, try to use polyrhythms, for example put some hihats in 1/3 and another percussion (maybe some metallic stuff/ticking) in 1/4 or 1/2, that makes a strange feel in it. cheers! if you would like to collaborate on something like this, im in

  • nt bad bro its a little rigid but for somebody who doesient usually make music like this is really good

  • Not

  • This is badass

  • whats the bpm?

  • pt.2 pt.2 pt.2 pt.2 pt.2 pt.2 pt.2 pt.2 where's pt.2

  • Hey Great Tuts! Love the beat pattern and how the beat sounds!

Do you find it easier to make this type of beats by laying out beat like you've done here (maybe it's easier to EQ things this way?)

I was wondering if you ever make beats using UltraBeat?

  • hey you never got back to me but if you could email me the logic file i know it will be big but it would help me allot then thatd be awsome :) dylann@live.com.au

  • how do you get the echo with the snare?

  • This is cool but you are way to mathematical about producing...

  • @CashbyProduction Thats a matter of opinion. I could say you aren't mathematical enough about your production. But I'd have to agree with you when it comes to this genre specifically, I normally do dance music so its mostly on time beats.

  • @CashbyProduction

there has to be balance in both feel and numbers.. that's my opinion.. beats are numbers though think about it..

  • Regardless of what people are saying, you are doing a great job. keep it going

  • hey there could you send me the loigic file so i can play this on my macbook? i think id be able to learn more if i could play around with it i dont even no how to make a drum kick sound lol :(

  • Don't listen to all these haters! Don't even respond to them! The only thing I would say is that the synth really messes up the flow of the beat =/. Other than that, great!

  • I think this is excellent! Love it.

  • nice one...wheres part 2 mate?....could we please have it Sir...

  • @bhauke1 When someone is learning guitar, piano, flute or any other musical instrument, how do they learn? Oh yes that's right, they learn by playing other peoples music ! Why you might ask? Its not so they can rip off style, its so they can practice, master the art and technique of playing the instrument. Which will allow them to develop the tools that turn there ideas into songs of there own unique style.

  • @RiskyDub nah,

  • @muaar ?

  • @RiskyDub youtube haters gonna hate. keep doing your thing riskydub! if you're on soundcloud found me: Vanilla Gorilla.

  • @bhauke1 title" Flying lotus - LA tutorial" not "check out my fresh new beat"

  • @bhauke1 When flying lotus first started making beats he took a lot from JDilla and other hip hop producers he built upon that to make his style. every artist emulates from somewhere when they first start then they find there own voice in the techniques.

  • Man, thanx U from Ukraine & Russia!

It's a very big help 4 me & my friends!

  • sometimes a beat that is simple is good

but other times like this right here with alot of things going on at once sounds fucking GREAT

  • how did you place the drums, just dragged it around til it fitted or what?

  • this sounds about as much like a Flylo beat as my arse does.

  • @ThisIsDownstate Thanks !

  • @ThisIsDownstate PLZ SHUT THE FUCK UP HE SAID INSPIRED BY FLYING LOTUS NOT COPYED #DICKFACE

  • love the beat but that synth is horrible :/ it doesn't suite the rhythm of the groove.

  • @djamorpheus its to the individual taste, but this was just whipped up for the tutorial.

  • @RiskyDub The beat is amazing though :)

  • Really cool man. You primarily a logic user? Also, did you construct this by individually pasting each audio region to the grid? I have always been awful at doing this. Would you mind giving some insight as to how you go about this? I normally have to just use drum pads but would like this flexibility as well. Thank you man. Really insightful tutorial.

  • @shapeslikedinosaurs I normally do all of my drums in audio but i find it more difficult to get a groove going, especially if your going for a more natural offbeat sound. But as far as effecting and engineering, its much easier for me personally.

  • This is so great.

As someone who has just started messing around with logic, why use samples from a pack rather than the internal Logic instruments/sounds?

  • yeah the sound is influenced, but you dont have enough compression and it's too quantized.

  • This is great, but when are we gonna get Part 2? It's been months.

  • stick a nasty compressor over the master bus!

  • omg...i really thought this was gonna be another fail attempt at mimmicking exp hip hop ...but this is actually fucking awesome omg

  • @Teknowledge93 thanks for you reply.

  • your other tunes are dope brother, any chance we can see some deconstructions of some others?

definitely looking forward to part two of this! wanna see how you went about that synth in the first half.

  • @TheTarantism Hey sorry for the late response, Ive been working on an EP and its just about to wrap up. Once thats over I will be breaking down some of my songs and piecing together more future beat sounds

  • Dont quantize and you will get a greater feeling/groove

  • @telkmx trueness!

  • @ericspits soon

  • cool, but why try and copy what other people have done? Do something original...

  • @LIGHTRONIX Its not about trying to copy or be exactly the same as anyone, Its showing others the techniques that embody the style of flying lotus. Showing routes to achieve this sound. He is an amazingly skilled producer and others should learn from him

Its like playing an instrument, most of the time you don't write your own songs from the start, you work your way through the classics or play songs others have made that inspire you. Eventually you develop your own style from what you learned

  • nice beat

  • @jls1337 Thank you. appreciate it

  • Fantastic man, Im learning so much!

  • whens the next video coming out :D i loved this
