i dont like gliders in fs, because it just realistic to real glider pilots, you should buy condor or something for a realistic game, on fs you don't have to do any circuits before landing, or cockpitchecks, and when a tow planes goes away from you, he should make a turn moving down instead of up, so..., bud we don't get tow'd up by other planes, we get "launched" ;p, ofcourse you can do all the checks, bud you don't have to, and there some things you can't check, so a real glider pilot doesnt fs
In FS2004 you dont have the option to get towed as you see here in this video. You have to use the slew feature to move your glider to whatever elevation you want, and then get out of slew mode to fly.
Have you tried the FSX Service pack? It solves allot of slow frame rate problems. If you have not tried the service pack then you'll be pleasantly surprised and you'll most likely be able to play FSX at a very reasonable frame rate.

But you can fly a billion flights on FSX yet you can only fly that once if you fly a lesson. Anyways, there are more planes to fly in FSX and it doesn't matter if you screw up.
You dont need a mission to fly the glider in FSX. You just load up the glider and (if my memory is correct) press Ctrl-Y and all of a sudden you get a Cessna to tow you up which is what I did for this video.

You're right, I fly a Grob 102 in real life, and FSX isn't really realistic when it comes to thermals and checks.

Yeah, but real flying is much more fun. And you wouldn't dare fly such a sloppy pattern if you were really in the plane :).

Damn! It is almost as going for real gliding...beside the fact you're not on it.
Anyway the cost of a machine which is able to run FSX smoothly is exactlythe one of a real glider training.
