hola como estas me gustaria saber como se llama la cancion que bailan en este video ojala me pudieras ayudar porque de verdad que ya me dieron ganas de bailarla gracias
thats not totally accurate. Its called Cali Style but they are using Pachanga steps. Occasionally Boogaloo steps too.
Its Called Cali Style because of the little adaptations Colombian dancers did to the style in order to be able to enter competitions where most dancers do LA and New York Styles.
Hi Arydias85, you're right what i wrote before is not totally accurate, there are elements of Pachanga and Bugalu (Cali's answer to boogaloo)in the dance, perhaps this is the base of the fast and fiery tempo of Caleno Salsa dancers' way of dancing, but what you're saying is not accurate either. The Cali Salsa style is a very particular dance style that combines many elements, those already mentioned as well as Afro-Colombian rhythms, Mambo, Son, Guaracha, Rock'n'Roll, Swing and Jive.
Their origins are a bit of an enigma, but what it does show is Colombians' passion and love affair with dance in general; did you know that the 2006 Tango World Champions are from Cali? or that the 2006 Cuban Rueda de Casino World Champions called Rucafe are from Cali as well? I'm stating this just to emphasize what I've mentioned about the love of dancing of Colombians and in particular Calenos.
My first comment just wanted to put the record straight with regards to the misconception that what is danced in Cali is called Pachanga and Bugalu; these styles of dancing from the late 1960's, as well as the music have remained as important parts of the dance repertoire and Calenos' dance identity, in a time capsule in Cali, Colombia and the Colombian diasporas around the world, very big in some countries, i.e. the USA, the UK, Spain, etc., but nowhere else.
Yes they are the current world Salsa dance champions, Jhon & Judy from Cali-Colombia, they performed instead of Rafael & Janet who couldn't perform at the last minute, reasons unknown. Jhon & Judy are dancing CALI SALSA STYLE, not Pachanga or Bugalu as suggested by by Sarauca. Pachanga & Bugalu are 2 different styles that remained popular in Cali and are part of the repertoire of Cali dancers, what they dance is the new Cali style, very different to their Pachanga and Bugalu.
I think I saw you filming this at Club Colosseum (I was at the back and couldn't see anything...was hoping you'd post it here!). Yes, these are the current World Champions...I think they are John and Judy from Cali, Colombia as sarauca says. Thanks for posting it!
