  • i like this video. this will help me with my first grapes

  • I pruned my 6 grape plants yesterday Nov. 20th and live in Savannah. After pruning I noticed a lot of leakage at the cuts. Did I rush the pruning? Most of the leaves were dead ,some were not. Pburt10 @yahoo.com 838 Dutch

  • mackc6r ... because you have a vandal within you ..keep being destructive under control.please consider theres family and neighbours who you can unload unwanted saltana grapes onto.

  • I must say that I hate grapes, except for wine. I have a 50' long row of something that I need to prune withing the next 2 weeks. This video is helpful I must say, but I still hate grapes. I will take care of them properly but the thought of igniting them on fire with diesel is always going through my mind. I hate to take care of grapes, why?

  • The wrath of the grapes.

  • Hi Chuch,

i have been training a vine over an arbour.

I will try cane & spur pruning to see which way is best. When they start to shoot say 3 foot in the air do you tie them down to a wire or just let them go.

  • Go Go Cane pruning.

  • i have a question. where are the males at in your videos? or are those males and females bearing fruit?? i have a male and female muscadine vine which are only a about 3-4 feet long at the most and i was told the male doesnt bear fruit it only pollinates the female but if i prune him will he still be able to grow back in time to pollinate the female???? anyone please feel free to help me!

  • forth video ive watched and still havent seen anyone prune the vine yet. i could of sworn the point of the video is to show you how to do it not tell you. id go to wikipedia if i wanted to read how its done.

  • That was so helpful. I have both wine and table wines. My flame seedless last year were so small, because I didn't thin or cluster prune the grapes. I can do it now. Thanks for showing me how.

  • Thanks, Chuck! I never understood any of this until I watched your video series. Now I just hope I can rehabilitate my own vines.

  • I built a grape arbor lend of last summer my desire to begin growing grapes this year. I imagine the shade from the grapes, the fruit from the vine and the eye beauty that goes along with them.

Delighted you responded it encouraged me to read the other responses I didnt realize were here on my behalf.

I guess Ill try Perlette the round, green, seedless grape

Many thanks to TOOL1231 and ancientLavada

  • can I grow thompson seedless [in PA ]

    with pines near by?

  • here in Fresno Ca. we have rellay hot (95-105), long dry summers and thompson seedless is the main crop here. even with the heat and sun they still mature kind of late, in sept. dont know much about Pa but i assume it has a cooler climate, not the long dry heat thompsons crave. but im no expert either.

  • Winter cold might damage them. Try Perlette. It's a round, green, seedless grape that fruits quite well in cooler summer areas. Usually earlier harvest, it is sweet with a crisp, fresh taste, without the honey tones of Thompson.

  • have you or do you grow graoes in pa?
