I got a 97 civic d16y7 and its making a loud squeal through the tachs. It just had a new tranny from a 99 d16y8. I can't pinpoint the sound. Should I cut the ac belt and start from there?
darkmagician is exactly right; I was waiting for him to stick his hand down on the compressor clutch as soon as it ingages. Wait till he finds out the "just a loose bolt" is gonna cost him about $1,200.00. Have fun.
I'm sure you've gotten it resolved, but its a failing compressor. you can wait until it fails or replace it now. Either way, you're going to have to get the line flushed since theres a possibility there is metal in the system. Benefit of changing it before failure is you might be able to save your old expansion valve
mine does the same damn thing but not as loud, but still, its a brand new pump and new everything. its pissing me off cuz i have so much money and time into it at this point. anyone have any suggestions? please let me know thanks

I'm having the same problem. If you ever find a fix, send me an email letting me know what the solution is?
Thanks
