julian schnabel is human just like the rest of us. we're all amazing including you, including him. he's just had the bravery or ego, however you want to call it, to commit to making art. talent is a small factor so as long as you stay committed, as long as you stay passionate, as long as you stay dedicated you too can rise to the this "level" that he has risen too. And trust me, you don't have to get recognition or money to reach this level.

I own 2 of Jules' works...they are over 15' in width,about 6 f' length..they are alright ,but one becomes bored after a term...of the works..my collection of Jean Michel Basquaits Ienjoy more..although i am practically giving them all away right now, as they also tread on the boredom scale..anyway i agree with you but an auction might be best for Jules' paintings.

I know Schnabel very well, I am a well known New York Artist also and I can tell you all that Schnabel ia a rank -hack artist that got some where because of the new painting style that came in 70's, but to this day the work does not hold up, also Schnabel is an egocentric asshole thats thinks he is the greatest painter alive, his work is pure garbage... Fuck the art world for making this guy rich and famous.

What is bad & good when it comes to art is irrelevent. All art is derivative. Who are all you critics anyway? if you have a better idea make it happen. All real art incites a reaction & based upon the responses here he is executing some real art. If everyone was o.k. with his pieces then what would any of them matter. He is ,at least, inspiring which is more than I could say about 90% of the artwork displayed on the walls of galleries these days.

You don't know what you are talking about. Art is beautiful in the way that it is imperfect. All paintings, wether they are recreations of landscapes or abstract works, are imperfect. If not, they would be like digital photographs. Same with film. when its made with silver halite instead of a pixels--digital camera--it looks better, because it is imperfect. pixels are squares, silver halite are marks of "paint" all over the place.

Shnabel has always been an over-hyped mediocre derivative painter with a oversized ego. This show demonstrates his lack of original vision and weak technique. The plates are ridiculous and ugly, the portraits are amatuerish and not revealing of the person or expressive as paint. He's much better as a director of film and should put his easel and paint in permanent storage and burn his work to avoid embarrassment.
