This is because (until recently) they never used in ear monitors; so he was always at the mercy of the acoustics what ever venue he was in. In most indoor venues it is very difficult for the singer to hear himself without a monitor.

@MaggotJuggalo031594 stu was having vocal issues and after two or so more shows he had to take a break from the tour for a while it got so bad

Ya, I saw them at House of Blues on the Iced Earth tour, and while he played good, his stage presence was dead as a door nail
